Mini DisplayPort to VGA on the VIZIO 240 HZ 46" 3D tv

It works. Oddly enough you need to plug a VGA cable into the"RGB" port on the TV. Then you must select the input not the COMP-1 or COMP-2/RGB port but just the simple RGB which you must scroll down past the 4 HDMI selections. This is easy to miss and seems all wrong but it works GREAT! Now I want the 70" monitor!!!

    It doesn't work.

I dont like this cable because i tried using it on two different TVs and in one Projector and it didn't work. It's probably because i didn't choose the correct cable as it has different references. For example mine is A1307 and there're more references. So when you're buying it, select the correct reference and buy it depending on what the TVs and Projectors recieve.

    Mini Display

This is the worst apple product I've ever purchased, it worked for like 2 months and never worked again. I'm extremely disappointed because I didn't think apple would make such cheap products, next time I look for something to hook up to my t.v I'm going to avoid buying apple products at all cost.

It takes a second to hook up and it works. I don't understand all the bad reviews. If you need it, buy it.

    i keep losing it

The main problem with this object is that I keep losing it, rendering it useless for its intended task of altering the properties of things near to me. It may be useful to whoever finds it, but I can't vouch for that.

I have used this product A LOT. It works fantastic, with no problems. Looking at the reviews, however, any normal person would realize that... maybe this product just doesn't work with Samsung products, which is Samsung's fault, as Samsung and LG like to make it so that their products only work exclusively with their own products. As a result, just don't get it if you have a Samsung product, as it obviously doesn't work for them, and you won't have to write a bad review

SECOND Mini to VGA I've purchased

    • Written by from Austin

21 of 25 people found this useful

This is the second Mini Port to VGA adapter I have purchased within 8 months or so and I have never been able to return for a refund or to swap product, which is VERY IRRITATING! Apparently, if you remove it and try to reattached, it decides not to register that it's hooked up. My macbook does as my info goes to the other screen but my BRAND new Samsung monitor just can't read it.

I also purchased a Mini Port to HDMI... SAME PROBLEM!... However, I never replaced this item because I can't afford it....

Definitely can't afford to keep purchasing the SAME product from APPLE that goes out within a month or two.

Come on APPLE!!! I'm a believer, I have a MacBook Pro, and Ipad and and Iphone... I'd really like to connect my flat screen monitor or TV to my EXPENSIVE, awesome gadgets, as that's why I bought Apple... BUT THIS BAD PRODUCT IS MAKING MY PRODUCTIVITY TERRIBLE!!!!

Please offer support for someone like myself with these constantly failing accessories you make... Provide a solution to me to ease my frustration...

I teach at a University and a couple of times, students have instantly fried this adapter by plugging it into the Ethernet port. This seems to instantly render these things useless. However, the bright side is that Apple has provided exceptional, no questions asked, instant support.

It converts your Mac's HDMI signal to VGA. Done. That's it.

If it doesn't work, you have a monitor that doesn't support the refresh rates of your Mac's graphics card.

Or, if you assume VGA carries an audio signal (!?) which VGA never has since it's inception (unless your hack the hardware yourself to do so), then you might be disappointed.

But your disappointment stems from ignorance, not the fault of the product.

I bought this for my mac to connect to my Sony 44 inch LCD tv. It hooked up good and the picture was clear and crisp. My biggest thing about it is that there is no sound coming from the TV and my surround sound. If its HDMI output adapter, then the sound should work.

    Stupid !

The most stupid thing about apple is it's stubborn head when it comes to connecting mac to screens, HDMI is the standard get over it, seriously !

I do not care about thunderbolt I don't care about the mini display I want to work my screen on the go.

I've bought this connector to use it with projectors, then I bought a full HD screen why do i have to buy another convertor to HDMI.

Apple be realistic about this matter, I hope you do someday.
PS: USB2 will survive for the next 10 years the main reason is that it covers the need of exchanging the data, thunderbolt is another high end connection but not preferable standard.

I really don't know why people say theirs don't work with the TV especially Samsung's. I don't have Samsung's TV, but mine works great. It works with Dell screen, Sony TV, Acer projector... There is only one Con in my opinion. It is just way too pricy. Otherwise, this is just a fabulous product.

Perfect for HP L1710 VGA LCD to Mac Pro 5,1

    • Written by from Boulder

My 20-inch Apple Cinema Display plugged right in to the ATI Radeon 5770 Display Card DVI port in my new Mac Pro 5,1 but I needed the MB572Z/A Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter to connect my HP L1710 17-inch VGA LCD.

The DP to VGA Adapter works so well that I am seriously considering getting another HP L1710 Display and another MB572Z/A Adapter for a three-display configuration; the Radeon 5770 can handle one DVI display and two VGA displays.

    Perfect!

I love Apple products and I am a lifetime user, but I must say, Apple adapters and cables are BEYOND DISAPPOINTING. I have already purchased 3 of these adapters and 2 have broken on me within 4 months of purchase. This is ridiculous.

Finally got it to work! With a Samsung monitor widescreen.

    • Written by from Royal Oak

This thing doesn't make much sense. It only works if the picture of the monitor on the adapter is facing up. But it fits in the Thunderbolt jack either way. I've tried three monitors and I was about to go back to the store when I tried it one more time and decided to flip the adapter over. I wonder how many people just gave up.

    Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter

Connected from iMac home computer to a HP vp17 display and works perfect! All you do is insert cable into mac and connect display to cable. The imac recognizes without doing anything. Then to select your personal configuration, click the apple on the top of the imac, go to system preferences, go to display and thats it - I hit arrangement and made the monitor on the left because it defaults to the right. Great job apple!

Works Well, TV might be problematic

    • Written by from Bloomington

I bought the minidisplayport-vga adaptor for my Sanyo tv, hooked it up, and it works great. The only real problem comes within the resolution options for a second screen on the Mac OS, so there really isn't a problem with the adapter. Either way, it isn't too fuzzy, it stays connected, and is overall a good product to own.
