Excellent little adaptor, although an HDMI port on every apple computer would be preferred. But then again, we don't live in a perfect world. After purchasing a VGA to HDMI cable, I finally can see the content of my 13 inch laptop on the 40 inch LCD tv. It's great! I can watch movies, browse the internet from the couch via the lovely track pad, it works! You can view mirror image or use the tv as a second display. After a year, it's worth the $35.

Anyone who writes a a positive review of this product must work for Apple.

First, with the money it costs to buy a Macbook, you should expect it to come with a VGA port already installed. Why should anyone need to pay an additional 30 dollars for an adapter? It's an inconvenience.

Second, these adapters do not hold up very long. I use mine every day. After two months of teaching, it is already starting to black out. They aren't built to handle the long haul. I have this problem every year. Last year, I went through 3 adapters.

Someone at Apple needs to wake-up and learn to make a durable product that will last.

I bought this expensive item and it only worked for a short time before causing problems. Worked intermittently, screen went black, needed cold-starts to reconnect, then finally fail to connect under the proper screen resolution.
It took several weeks to get Apple to diagnose and I'm still waiting for the replacement to be shipped. Will the new one also fail in short order? I suspect it will. In the meantime, I can't do my usual work without the monitor.

I do a lot of presentations with a MacBook Pro and a projector in different places and I can never attach tightly my VGA cables; the holders are to far from the edge. I have to use tape all the time to make sure it doesn't unplug and there is risk of poor color displaying if it is not plugged correctly. I'm not happy with it and I don't have other options. I hope you guys fix the problem.

I'm at a public school full of Macs. The preview adaptors lasted forever and were only 20 bucks. Now this one is 30 bucks and I've lost 3 so far this year. They just die. Not what you want in an public educations setting where funds are tight. Just a complication and they fall out...I could go on and on.

Apple needs to stop using Mini DisplayPort. It's a way to get money without providing anything but more complications. I'm on my second adapter, and it doesn't work with any of my screens/monitors (I have three).

The adapter works just fine. I have used it to connect to several different projectors and have not had any problems. The only complaint I have is the threads meant to secure the adapter are set in too deep. None of the VGA cords I have tried have a long enough screws to reach into the adapter for a secure connection. Most of the time the fit between the VGA cord and the adapter is snug enough not to fall out but it would be nice if you could secure them better, especially if it were to be a more permanent installation.

The adapter Works with Mac Book Pro, Mac Book Air laptops connecting to a projector or screen up to 23 in. I use one all the time.

It does NOT work with mini display ports on the Radeon HD cards in a Mac Pro. Those require the $99 adapter even for small screens and projectors. Apple techs explained that the Radeon HD mini display ports are different from the Mac Book ones.

i have a 50" samsung flat screen. just bought an imac and the mini display port to vga cable, read reviews and was worried when so many people were complaining that it didnt work, it works fine for me. it took me a minute to figure it out because i only owned pc windows based type systems before, but you have to go into display and couple then at the top right of your safari tool bar click on the display then mirroring and it works just fine. not sure if people are doing this or what the instance is but i am very satisfied with the quality and clarity i can watch youtube and netflix on my samsung...it works and is worth the 30 bux i paid.

I've had the same problem as others have posted using the adapter with an iMac on a Sampo/Net TV monitor. The monitor would just make a fast clicking noise and nothing would display regardless of the resolution setting or resetting the PRAM.

The solution is to use a VGA cable that's missing a pin (Pin 9).
