    TV or Projector (LOVE)

    • Written by from Cairo

I am a Youth pastor and hook this up to my Macbook pro and to any of our projectors and to my Samsung TV every night and it has worked perfectly for over a year!

    Doesn't Last!

    • Written by from Beaverton

Works great if you're only planning to use it on occasion. If you're planning to use it on a daily basis, you better bring a back-up! I purchased 25 for my business 4 months ago and have already had to replace 6. Not so good. I'd recommend looking into a non-Apple product.

    Never a problem

    • Written by from Alhambra

I use this adapter almost every day for a digital projector in my classroom, and I use it at home for a monitor to watch movies and I have NEVER had a problem. I have had it for almost two years now.

The screws fit right in and I am glad the port is smaller because I think that big VGA port is ugly. Also how often are you going to have something in the video port, both audio ports and both USB ports?

Like all Apple products, it is sleek, easy to use right out of the box, and doesn't break.

    Disappointing - Works with difficulties

    • Written by from London

The sockets in the VGA end are set in too deep and on majority of cables the screws in the plugs cannot catch the tread, resulting in the connection not being secure at all. The smallest movement of the cables cause break in connection.
In terms of compatibility, it works with all VGA devises including projectors.

    Beautiful

    • Written by from Lakefield

Works great for all of the presentations I do at school. No fail yet, even after 200 presentations. If you want HD, buy the dvi, it's what I use for my television, and it's much nicer (Can do 1080p) and it's cheaper.

it's supposed to be used with a monitor not TV's

    • Written by from wilton

You are all complaining about the adapter not working on your TV or that it is not compatible with large resolutions. but if you go back to the description it doesn't say TV anywhere. it worked fine for me on my monitor and guess what it never broke!

    Dissapointing...... No support for 1920x1440

    • Written by from Huizen

Bought a new mac mini to use it with my home theater setup. Old mac mini with the intel graphics chipset can do up to 1920x1440 on analog VGA output. (via dvi to vga adapter). New setup with this cable can do max 1920x1200.... And even that doesnt work properly. Signals seem to be distorted....

    Waste of money.

    Adapter broke from light use

    • Written by from Washington

I was never able to properly attach either of my 2 VGA cables but now the adapter will only work if it is placed in absolutely the right position and once touched, the connection fails and my screen refreshed--even a small bump on the desk is enough to do it. There is no reason for this and I am going to try a non-Apple adapter next.

    Doesn't Work

    • Written by from Camarillo

I was using a Macbook Pro 10.6.5 and an LG TV. Didn't work. I would use my Windows computer and it worked, I then tried my Macbook Pro and it didn't. I think its the cable, not the Macbook.

    No problems across multiple platforms

    • Written by from San Tan Valley

I have a 13 inch Macbook and have used this adapter with no problems. I have a first-generation flat screen monitor from a desktop I bought in '01. It works excellent with that. Additionally, I have more recently used this adapter on two different LCD televisions with no problems.
It did take a few minutes the first time I used it to realize that you have to grab the window on your primary monitor and literally slide it over to the secondary monitor. I've used it this way to edit photos as well as watch movies and it works great.

    VGA to Samsung TV

    • Written by from Knoxville

I have read the review of this product not working with Samsung TVs. I have a Samsung UN46C9000 LED/LCD 3D TV. This adapter works VERY WELL with my TV. It gives a very clear and sharp picture with no hint of pixelation or other video artifacts.

    I highly recommend it!

    Works fine but...

    • Written by from Santo domingo

It's work fine with a 17" AOC display, but when i use it with my 22" AOC Display, has very poor sharpness. I'll try with a MiniDisplayPort to DVI Adapter.

    VGA plug thumbscrews won't fit!

    • Written by from Midland

I often give presentations at work, and others in my Fortune 30 sized company are jealous of my MacBook Pro. Until I try to plug into the projector, that is. The thumbscrews on any of the projectors I've tried in the last year won't work in the Apple adapter, and the connection is so loose that the projector display often goes to "blue screen". This always results in comments from the crowd like "cheap Apple products"...

Very frustrating and so unlike Apple. I sure hope they remedy this soon.

    2 Major Problems

    • Written by from Greenwich

I am surprised that this adapter does not live up to Apple's usual high standard of quality.

First, one wonders why a $30 device that is essential for almost all Mac Mini users is regarded as an option. It seems to be an underhanded attempt to gouge customers.

Second, a simple device such as this should be able to attach to a VGA cable correctly. It does not. The thumb screws on my VGA cable are not long enough to reach the corresponding sockets on this Apple adapter. This means that the VGA cable will work itself loose. (When it does get loose, by the way, the Mac Mini somehow forgets the correct resolution of my HP 1440 x 900 display. After hours of trying to reset the resolution, I accidentally stumbled on the cause when I touched this Apple VGA adapter. Now I have to use Scotch tape to hold the cable and adapter together!)

This is not the level of quality I have come to expect from Apple, and I have tempered my enthusiasm for the company's products accordingly.

VGA male will not attach to this piece of junk

    • Written by from Richmond

Piece of *censored* - non-standard holes are set back too far for any standard male VGA plug to attach. This means your cables will work loose and come apart. *censored* *censored* - expensive overpriced *censored*, Steve.

    Great but scratched

    • Written by from Guadalajara

Works great, it's durable and small. The thing is that it gets scratched very easy because of the glossy finish.

    Works great...

    • Written by from Davenport

    ...on my Viewsonic.

I also have the Mini DisplayPort to HDMI for my big Vizio screen. That works fine too.

I only wish they were cheaper. C'mon Apple, if you are going to use a custom port design, can't you at least bring it down to $19?
