    Complete fail with '12 MBA

    This connector does not work with the 2012 Macbook Air. Period. Tried connecting to several external VGA displays and was unsuccessful in each case, despite trying every conceivable combination of resolution settings, powering off and on, connecting and disconnecting, etc. Just doesn't work. Until Apple solves this problem, I would highly caution Macbook Air owners against this product.

    I got a belinea 24'' screen and it works very good. Cuz you go from digital mini display to analog vga you cannot use it for to big screens...

    Warning to people who use this for presentations

    Does not connect reliably to video projectors with my MBA 2012. Such a shame as it was not a problem with my "old" MBA from 2009.

    Doesn't work on 4 out of 5 displays!

    This a a terrible product cuz it doesn't work on anything other than an LG TV.
    Tried a BenQ 17" monitor...no go.
    Skyworth TV...no go.
    Sanyo TV...no go.
    Acer 24" monitor...no go.
    DLP projector...no go.

    How basic is it to demand a computer outputs properly to another monitor for presentations or videos...!?!?!

    It just works

    I've used this adapter countless times for mirroring to my TV and presentations on a wide variety of projectors. There's never been a problem with connecting and after two years, there's still no wear on the cable despite its constant use and travel.

    Thunderbolt to VGA as well!

    I didn't realize that Mini DisplayPort is backwards compatible with Thunderbolt display technology. In other words, if you have a Thunderbolt-enabled Mac and need to display to a VGA display, this cable will do the trick.

    Great Adapter

    I connected my new iMac to my Sony HDTV using this adapter. The installation was easy and the TV mirrors my monitor display extremely well without any major settings. However, the first adapter that I received from the Apple Online Store was defective. It did not work at all. I exchanged the adapter for another one at the closest Apple Store and the new adapter works perfectly.

    Poor quality

    I have used up to 3 adaptors within a year. It is too easily broken and i have to buy a new one every few months. Very poor quality.

    Works fine but take cure if using gfxCardStatus

    If you use gfxCardStatus then you may have to switch away from Intel only mode.

    Don't worry - nothing is broken. If your external display is not being detected while you're using gfxCardStatus, it means that you have a newer i5/i7 model, and you're currently on Intel Only mode. Switch to Discrete Only or Dynamic Switching to use the display. The Intel graphics chipset is incapable of outputting video through the Mini DisplayPort.

    Works...for 2 months

    I had just bought one, and was apprehensive about it. But it worked beautifully with everything I hooked it up with, including my 46" SAMSUNG TV(yeah, samsung, ). after a month of light use and lugging it between home and school, it just crapped out. Just like that. no warning or anything. Doubleyou-tee-eff, Apple. Also $30? Fo-real? Apple...$10. No more than $10.

    I have tried using this VGA adaptor a few times but it never works. The VGA adaptor for the iPad works fine. What's the deal with this?

    Great for PC Projectors

    I use my adapter for connection to a PC projector during meetings that require presentations. I am extremely happy with the product. I was formerly a PC user and whenever I would connect to a PC projector, I would have to make adjustments in order to fit the screen resolution.

    I connect the adapter to my Mac Air, and it instantly comes on without any adjustments. I have to make presentations at different customers that have different types of projectors. It's never let me down- connect every time without adjustments, and without failure.

    Try to connect your mac with any video and you'll be very satisfied of this. You can instantaneously get two screen in which work - you can drag and drop your open windows directly on the other screen - and naturally mirror your desktop if you want. 4 stars because although it is really a good product costs too much.

    It failed on me...

    I had the adapter for 6 months and used it daily. All of a sudden it just stopped working. It did get some heavy use, and I suspect that the wires inside wore out from the constant bending, but it should have lasted longer than 6 months.

    Hi everyone, I'm using this with Samsung 15" LCD TV LE15S51BPX/XEU - Silver/Black and works like a charm. I'm not sure if this thing will go in a month or two like others say but def it works for me and my MBP 13 inches late 2011. probably not the best construction but if it works then we are all set. actually i want to know if someone have one that worked for at least more than a year.

    Useless PC monitor becomes a useful Mac Accessory.

    When I upgraded to a Macbook in June 2011 my monitor to my PC just sat on my desk collecting dust. I had no use for it I was thinking about giving it away until I saw this on Apple's website now my Dell Widescreen flat panel monitor is a true life saver when I'm doing research papers and need a bigger monitor to put more windows on my screen then my 15" Macbook Pro screen by itself. Now when I'm typing all I have to do is look to the left and theirs all my research data while I'm typing on Pages on my MacBooks screen. I truly recommend this product if you have a useless monitor sitting somewhere and would like to get some use out of it with your Mac.

    It works. Oddly enough you need to plug a VGA cable into the"RGB" port on the TV. Then you must select the input not the COMP-1 or COMP-2/RGB port but just the simple RGB which you must scroll down past the 4 HDMI selections. This is easy to miss and seems all wrong but it works GREAT! Now I want the 70" monitor!!!
