Can not output to projector with this and MacBook Air 11" 2012

    • Written by from 台中市

MacBook Air 11" 2012 has only one Thunderbolt port, and my "old" Mini-display to VGA convert cable is able plugging in. It was so disappointed, while I done this, nothing appeared on the projector screen and flashing with "non compatible signal". What's going on, is Thunderbolt different to Mini-display?

    Issues with new macbookpro

    • Written by from Aurora

I'm having similar issues with my macbook pro since June when I bought it. Eventually fed up, I took the macbook pro back. The geniuses at the Apple store could not find the problem so they sent it somewhere else to be evaluated. Once there, they put in a new hard drive and system board. Guess what, still having the same problem. Using the same cable on my old macbook never presented this problem. If I restart the computer it freezes and won't boot. I'm beginning to regret the purchase of my $1,600 computer when I could've bought a cheaper one that works. Quality is definitely suffering since the service at the genius bar only made me mad when they basically told me that if they can't simulate the problem in the store I'm out of luck. Maybe this review is more of a reflection of the macbook pro itself and not the adaptor. But, when I buy any product especially from Apple (with premium prices), I expect it to work consistently. This is far from my experience.

    MBA 2012

    • Written by from jouy le moutier

Doesn't work properly on 2012 MBA with majority of monitors & projectors. The only workaround is to shutdown and restart with the monitor connected. This means that this is a software issue (not hardware) and it appears that Apple is not working for a driver update. Without solution I will return my MBA and return to WINDOWS.....

Does not Work properly, can not support 1920x1080

    • Written by from Bellingham

I am extremely disappointed with this adapter. i purchased it to use an older LCD I have that I verified still worked with my windows 7 laptop. I the adapter would bring the computer to a crawl with this monitor attached ( and later learned it did the same with 4 other monitors) to it and also no picture.(I was intending to extend my desktop to the lcd) I called Apple and they assured me it was the screen not the adapter, although the tech did tell me before the call was over to buy a new screen and make sure it is DVi because the VGA adapters are having problems. I eventually was able to get a picture of 800x600 resolution but could not go to the monitors full resolution. I tried 5 different monitors in total only 1 did it work correctly on.
I bought 2 new LCD screens, the first was a Samsung and to my surprise it was a VGA only screen, so i tried it out and it would work, but only at 1440x900 not the 1920x1080 the screen supports. I brought back that screen and exchanged it for an ACER P236H which has VGA and DVI. I tried the VGA first, same result as the Samsung only 1440x1080 despite the screen resolution being 1920x1080. I brought back the adapter and exchanged it for the DVI one. The ACER monitor works without issue now at all resolutions up to 1920x1080. I am not sure what the issue is but it is without question something in the adapter or the software behind it. Either way it just isn't worth the frustration of messing with it. go DVI and save yourself the hassle.

I haven't tested this theory, but if you must go VGA i would try using the DVI adapter with a DVI to VGA attached to it. the DVI adapter seems to be much more stable.

Disapointed my new Macbook Pro didn't come with a VGA connector

    • Written by from Valencia

I bought my first MacBook Pro 5 years ago and it came with a VGA connector that I use to connect to an LCD projector for class presentations, etc. Many of my friends with Macs have different connectors based on the model of their Mac, so cords aren't very interchangeable unless you have the exact same model. Case in point, my new 2012 Macbook Pro, which has a different connection type. My biggest frustration is that my new one didn't come with a connector which means I need to track one down via the internet or go back to the Mac store when I am in that area to get one that works. Too bad Mac is too cheap to include it like they used to.

    Complete fail with '12 MBA

    • Written by from Tucson

This connector does not work with the 2012 Macbook Air. Period. Tried connecting to several external VGA displays and was unsuccessful in each case, despite trying every conceivable combination of resolution settings, powering off and on, connecting and disconnecting, etc. Just doesn't work. Until Apple solves this problem, I would highly caution Macbook Air owners against this product.

This a a terrible product cuz it doesn't work on anything other than an LG TV.

    Skyworth TV...no go.
    Sanyo TV...no go.
    Acer 24" monitor...no go.

How basic is it to demand a computer outputs properly to another monitor for presentations or videos...!?!?!

This is the worst apple product I've ever purchased, it worked for like 2 months and never worked again. I'm extremely disappointed because I didn't think apple would make such cheap products, next time I look for something to hook up to my t.v I'm going to avoid buying apple products at all cost.

SECOND Mini to VGA I've purchased

    • Written by from Austin

This is the second Mini Port to VGA adapter I have purchased within 8 months or so and I have never been able to return for a refund or to swap product, which is VERY IRRITATING! Apparently, if you remove it and try to reattached, it decides not to register that it's hooked up. My macbook does as my info goes to the other screen but my BRAND new Samsung monitor just can't read it.

I also purchased a Mini Port to HDMI... SAME PROBLEM!... However, I never replaced this item because I can't afford it....

Definitely can't afford to keep purchasing the SAME product from APPLE that goes out within a month or two.

Come on APPLE!!! I'm a believer, I have a MacBook Pro, and Ipad and and Iphone... I'd really like to connect my flat screen monitor or TV to my EXPENSIVE, awesome gadgets, as that's why I bought Apple... BUT THIS BAD PRODUCT IS MAKING MY PRODUCTIVITY TERRIBLE!!!!

Please offer support for someone like myself with these constantly failing accessories you make... Provide a solution to me to ease my frustration...

I love Apple products and I am a lifetime user, but I must say, Apple adapters and cables are BEYOND DISAPPOINTING. I have already purchased 3 of these adapters and 2 have broken on me within 4 months of purchase. This is ridiculous.
