This product worked great for about a month and then it quit working completely!! Apparently Apple has this problem with all of their adaptor cables! So basically don't buy Apple products when it comes to any type of adaptor!

I work as a tech at a university and we have these small adapters connected to iMAC's, mac mini's and Laptops... these adapters give out on a regular basis. It's a HUGE waste of money to purchase a mass load of replacements... unfortunately it's the only choice we have. EXTREMELY disappointed in this product.

    Display Adapter Mis-Use

There seems to be confusion about the Apple VGA adapter that changes from the video port to VGA. In general TV's cannot be run on this connection. Computer monitors are not not like TV's as far as signal type and pin-outs go. This adapter was meant to connect to another analog computer monitor or similar device like a projector, not a connection to a digital TV. Some of the newer LCD TV's have the electronics to do both TV and VGA computer type displays. I won't get any more Technical than that. Apple should give more detail about how and when to use this adapter.

One of the few apple products that I would rate so lowly. It won't work with many display models and fails to detect most common Samsung products. It's a headache that's not worth your time.

Connection is VERY loose ... slightest touch and it disconnects! And that's oodles of fun ... really.

But ... I need the cable. When in doubt duct tape. :)

    No Video on Samsung LCD

This is so disappointing. Apple has a mini display port and a mini display port to VGA adapter. I can connect many PC's with Windows to my Samsung LCD via VGA but not my new mac book air. Also there is no warning for Samsung LCD compatibility problem.
Why Apple is not making a solution for this issue???

I have no trouble at all with this product except loosing them! I'm buying my third today. I had much more trouble with the previous generation of video out to VGA converters that worked with my old laptop. The mini DVI adapter has worked consistently for video output to a variety of overhead projectors (10+) hundreds of times.

Apple does charge a lot for all its cables, put in my experience they are more reliable than 3rd party cables.

Used this for a few months without issue. Just returned from a big training that was seriously compromised b/c the adaptor projected a purple hue on the screen. It was determined with some troubleshooting it was the adaptor - not my macbook, or the company's state of the art projection equipment. I changed adaptors and it worked fine. VERY disappointing!!! As others have said - probably the FIRST Apple product I really dislike and at $30 for the cable -what a waste as I know go in search of replacing it with a new one only 4 months later. APPLE REVISIT YOUR SUPPLIER ON THIS ONE PLEASE! There is clearly a theme here on how mediocre this product is and I disregarded the negative comments here before I bought it and clearly paid the price literally......!

This is the first time I have been disappointed with a Mac product. The product worked great for the first three months then stopped working with no apparent reason or any warning. Steep price for something that doesn't stay working. Had no problem with the earlier version for my MacBook. Disappointed with this one.

Moshi Mini Display Port Simply Useless

Bought it and it worked great until i plugged something into a usb port next to it, and that knocked the signal out to the external monitor. After wiggling the adapter it came back on again, but now it doesn't even connect when it's plugged in on its own, this is after maybe 3 months of occasional use. Would never buy another over priced hunk of junk from this company again.

I have just bought a 2011 Mac mini and connected it from the Thunderbolt port to my rather old Samsung LA37R71B TV using this adapter. It works perfectly.

    I have set the Mac mini to 1280 x 768 60Hz.

It's a much better picture on the TV using this instead of using the straight HDMI to HDMI which I also tried.

I bought this item about 4 months ago and at first I was very happy with the product but because of the weight of the VGA cable you have to hook up, the adapter is always hanging and it looks like the middle wire of the adaptor got screwed up, now the picture quality is poor and usually I see lines on my screen.

Apple should come up with something different....either a longer middle cable or eliminate the cable somehow.

Title says it all. It does what's needed (for me at least). Im using a LG Flatron and it works just fine. Only wish it had a longer cord. The short distance between the MiniDisplay and VGA ports is small enough that it interferes with my USB devices on my MacBook Pro 13"

i'm very disappointed. I spent the whole day trying to connect it from my macbook pro to my samsung monitor with no luck. I thought I was doing something wrong. I took the mini displayport to VGA adapter out and connected the screen to my hp laptop and it worked right away. So It seems like the problem is with the mini displayport. It says that its not connected. I'm not sure what the problem is but I wouldn't recommend it. Hope apple fixes the problem.

I have used this adaptor for some time with no problem, until I upgraded to Lion. Since then, it will not work with my LG TV, and despite Apple being made aware of the problem, no answer has been forthcoming. It appears to depend on the type of TV monitor you have whether it works or not. A big thumbs down for the OS, rather than the adaptor itself.
