    Works for me!!

    • Written by from Brentwood

Not sure why some people have a problem with this adapter. I have successfully connected my IMac using this adapter to Samsung, LG, Sony plasma and LCD Tv's, plus Infocus, Acer and Sony projectors. Its true that on some you initially get a no sync or blank screen, but with a quick screen resolution and or Hz reconfig, they all worked perfectly.

    Works perfect for me.

    • Written by from TINTON FALLS

I've been using this quite a fair bit now for three months straight and it works perfectly. I have had no issues connecting it to a projector and I can dual-screen just fine with my Acer AL2216W monitor. OSX made adjustments automatically for me; simply plug it in. It's pretty small, which makes it easy to carry around with me.

I’ve used this with my Sony Bravia, a Samsung TV/Monitor, and two ViewSonic monitors, and it’s worked wonderfully on all three. I haven’t had any compatibility problems whatsoever, and the picture is displayed in maximum resolution.

    Worked Perfectly

Hooked this up to my MacBook (not Pro or Mini) and plugged it in to my 35 inch Samsung LCD monitor to play videos through iTunes. Once I went in to settings-displays and set up the monitors for dual use it worked great. Only had to uncheck one box to do it.

    Works PERFECTLY!!!

I bought this cable to give a presentation for a college class (yes my grade was riding on the presentation) and it worked perfectly. Not only did it automatically register the projector when I hooked it up but it changed the resolution to match the projector. I did not shut down or reboot, I just plugged it in and it worked like a MAC... Flawless.

Buy this one and not any of the knock-offs.

And to all the price whiners, if you bought a Mac, you should know that it's worth it and if you go Apple-brand, you're getting what you pay for.

    Works great with Toshiba Regza

    • Written by from Adrian

I purchased the Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter to connect my MacBook to our Toshiba Regza 52" flat screen TV to show the iphoto slideshow of my son at his graduation party. A huge success! One lessons learned was that I initially did not unplug our HD cable from our Toshiba and plugged in the PC cable into the TV. It initially did not work and I was so frustrated. I thought it was because it was a Mac vs. PC, however my PC did not work either. I unplugged the HD connection from my PC and my Mac projected perfectly with the adapter. Mac's iphoto slideshow with music is very easy to use and looks very professional. I also purchased the audio adapter to have the music I selected from my iTunes library to sync with the slide show play on our surround sound.

*Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter .....$30
    *Audio Adapter.................................$30
*Showing a 236 picture iphoto slide show of your son from ultra sound to high school graduation synced with music at his party with friends and family..............................................PRICELESS!

    WORKS GREAT!

    • Written by from Frisco

I have a Mac 2.0 duo core and needed an extra monitor to run windows 7. Plugged it and works perfect! One problem I ran into was not being able to close the laptop and the external monitor stay on. After trying everything I realize I just needed to hit the space bar on the wireless keyboard and Wallla! Simple solution to what seemed to be a major problem. Only tried to do this because my PC crashed at work and needed something to work quick. When I get the PC back I will be putting it on Craig's List and NEVER again will I buy another Pc! Unfortunatly the rest of the world has not transformed to MAC. When will people realize they spend twice money in the long run buying software and ultimently getting them fixed. With Mac theres never any down time!

    Set up?

    • Written by from Sugar Land

I rated this 4 stars only for my iMac. On my iMac I have the Mini Display Port to VGA Adapter and it works fine.

So far I can not seem to make it work for my Macbook Pro. Is there a different way to configure it for the Macbook?

For the iMac, I went to System Pref, Display, Detect Display and it works. Not so on the Macbook.

Reliable--NOT a Wast of Time or Money

    • Written by from Whittier

The product works as advertised. I've used one for 3 years with no issues. The reviewer who said to read his/her review before wasting your time and money mistakenly purchased the wrong product due to a misunderstanding.

If you have a recent iMac (not the quad-core version) you have an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. This is different from an Intel Core Duo processor which was used in the first Intel iMac (Early 2006) model. The claim from Apple is that this adapter will work with the early 2006 model iMac, the first MacBook (also from 2006), and 12-inch PowerBook G4 (the 12-inch PowerBook G4 is the model which might cause some confusion as there was one 12" model in early 2003 that had a mini-VGA out and a later 2003 12" model that used a mini-DVI out). These ports have changed as technologies change and advance, and Apple is always at the forefront of new and improved technologies. The newer iMacs use a mini-DisplayPort video out which requires Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter.

Apple can and should do a better job of alerting people to these differences, but I would suggest that you call an Apple Store and ask for guidance if you are unsure about the compatibility of a product or if you are unfamiliar with the technology. I hope this helps.

    Almost Perfect

    • Written by from Oak Lawn

Overall, its a good product. It's aesthetically pleasing, an fits right into the mini display port. The actual connections and color is also very good. However, when attaching the VGA Cable, it does not always stay attached, even with the screws. Most of the time it fits, but sometimes, when plugged into certain cables, and Smart Boards, it wont stay connected and I have to put a pice of tape around it, then it is fine and doesn't give me any trouble. Its a very good cord, and worth the money. Don't let one person's bad review not make you buy this, or a Mac. They work perfectly and come in handy.

I had an Apple Expert help me with finding the correct adaptor for my computer, all I had to do was hit the little "Chat Now" icon on the top-left of the page. Expert was quick and friendly and helped me find exactly what I needed. I bought the adaptor and used the the next day, and it worked to perfection. No complaints here.

    Easy and fully functional

    • Written by from Silkeborg

It is a major flaw in the screen industry that they never replaced VGA by mini-VGA as did Apple, but apparently they were looking out for another technology, like, e.g., HDMI. So Apple's frequent role as a game changer as we've seen in with the touch-screen technology for mobile phones, the mouse for personal computers, the wireless tablet to read newspapers (iPad), the easy-to-access store to buy legal software (AppStore), was not actualised here. As a consequence, we Mac users are all forced to use adapters to hook up to existing technology like the case of VGA screens. It's a pity, because mini-VGA was a good idea; easy, feasible, cheap.

I've tried out Apple's Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter for two months now, and it works flawlessly. The cable connecting the two ends — VGA and mini-VGA — makes the whole issue of combining the connections easier, because the VGA cable in the other end that ports the image data to the television or external computer screen is cumbersome to deal with. Usually, VGA cables are big, clumsy and hard to twist.

I used the Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter to connect both to a cheap 19'' computer screen and to my television set. The images turning up on my Sony Bravia 32'' flatscreen are excellent; I've never seen my television set present the world in such a beautiful way. The images are knife sharp as on a computer screen, but with a much more vivid colour depth. Whenever you have the chance, use your TV flatscreen to display your computer activities. And use the Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter to connect your Mac to the television set's VGA port.

    Excellent-adapter delivers what it promises

    • Written by from MOUNT PLEASANT

Everything Apple touches is magic, even non-apple products like my sony 17" LCD screen that adapts to my new macbook to mirror the image. Achieving adequate clarity on the larger screen requires patience and you have to accept that, not being apple, it will never be as bright and perfect as on the apple laptop. If you are looking for perfection, forget about adapters. But if you want a piece that connects (in my view) older technology with the newer and better macs, then this is for you.

This cable only carries video. Not much can go wrong with it.
