    SECOND Mini to VGA I've purchased

    This is the second Mini Port to VGA adapter I have purchased within 8 months or so and I have never been able to return for a refund or to swap product, which is VERY IRRITATING! Apparently, if you remove it and try to reattached, it decides not to register that it's hooked up. My macbook does as my info goes to the other screen but my BRAND new Samsung monitor just can't read it.

    I also purchased a Mini Port to HDMI... SAME PROBLEM!... However, I never replaced this item because I can't afford it....

    Definitely can't afford to keep purchasing the SAME product from APPLE that goes out within a month or two.

    Come on APPLE!!! I'm a believer, I have a MacBook Pro, and Ipad and and Iphone... I'd really like to connect my flat screen monitor or TV to my EXPENSIVE, awesome gadgets, as that's why I bought Apple... BUT THIS BAD PRODUCT IS MAKING MY PRODUCTIVITY TERRIBLE!!!!

    Please offer support for someone like myself with these constantly failing accessories you make... Provide a solution to me to ease my frustration...

    bought it few weeks ago, I used it for my Keynote presentation. This adapter is simple, elegant and easy-to-use. In my opinion I think the owner is responsible for the care and use of this device. The first time i plugged it in my MacBook Pro Thunderbolt port it was easy, effortless. works fine. Thumbs up APPLE :) I wish that there would be an original Apple Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter.

    I just got a new school MacBook Pro and I love the machine unfortunately it isn't able to hook up to my View Sonic projector at all. I am extremely disappointed that the connection end was changed that much!

    The adapter works perfectly when connecting a 13" MacBook Pro to a Dell (or any non-Mac) external monitor. Great size to travel with as well.

    Previously used a Mini DVI to VGA adaptor for presentations and screening film clips on my Macbook without problems. After upgrading to a Macbook Pro, I bought this adaptor only to find that it delivered dim, washed out images. Black and white films are an indecipherable mess. Tested on multiple systems with the same result. An inferior product, and I'm not sure there's any alternative.

    I have a Mac 2.0 duo core and needed an extra monitor to run windows 7. Plugged it and works perfect! One problem I ran into was not being able to close the laptop and the external monitor stay on. After trying everything I realize I just needed to hit the space bar on the wireless keyboard and Wallla! Simple solution to what seemed to be a major problem. Only tried to do this because my PC crashed at work and needed something to work quick. When I get the PC back I will be putting it on Craig's List and NEVER again will I buy another Pc! Unfortunatly the rest of the world has not transformed to MAC. When will people realize they spend twice money in the long run buying software and ultimently getting them fixed. With Mac theres never any down time!

    I rated this 4 stars only for my iMac. On my iMac I have the Mini Display Port to VGA Adapter and it works fine.

    So far I can not seem to make it work for my Macbook Pro. Is there a different way to configure it for the Macbook?

    For the iMac, I went to System Pref, Display, Detect Display and it works. Not so on the Macbook.

    Easy and fully functional

    It is a major flaw in the screen industry that they never replaced VGA by mini-VGA as did Apple, but apparently they were looking out for another technology, like, e.g., HDMI. So Apple's frequent role as a game changer as we've seen in with the touch-screen technology for mobile phones, the mouse for personal computers, the wireless tablet to read newspapers (iPad), the easy-to-access store to buy legal software (AppStore), was not actualised here. As a consequence, we Mac users are all forced to use adapters to hook up to existing technology like the case of VGA screens. It's a pity, because mini-VGA was a good idea; easy, feasible, cheap.

    I've tried out Apple's Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter for two months now, and it works flawlessly. The cable connecting the two ends — VGA and mini-VGA — makes the whole issue of combining the connections easier, because the VGA cable in the other end that ports the image data to the television or external computer screen is cumbersome to deal with. Usually, VGA cables are big, clumsy and hard to twist.

    I used the Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter to connect both to a cheap 19'' computer screen and to my television set. The images turning up on my Sony Bravia 32'' flatscreen are excellent; I've never seen my television set present the world in such a beautiful way. The images are knife sharp as on a computer screen, but with a much more vivid colour depth. Whenever you have the chance, use your TV flatscreen to display your computer activities. And use the Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter to connect your Mac to the television set's VGA port.

    Don't use VGA for an HDTV, use DVI/HDMI!

    This adapter works well with my HP w2007 20" LCD monitor. The picture is crisp and steady. It's hard to distinguish from a DVI connection.

    I do find it's best to let the monitor sync itself when I plug it in and then just leave it and not fuss with it. If I hit the monitor's "Auto Sync" button the result is often a blurry display. If this happens, unplugging and plugging the adapter fixes it, as does performing a "factory reset" using my monitor's menu. I suggest trying these things if your monitor is having trouble getting a good sync.

    For those of you having trouble using this to connect a MacBook to an HDTV, let me offer this advice: Your HDTV probably has an HDMI port, so that's what you should be using, not VGA. Get the Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter and also a DVI to HDMI cable. You will get a far better result. I use this method to connect my MacBook to a Panasonic HDTV and it works beautifully. Please, do yourself a favor and do not use the VGA port if your HDTV has HDMI (or DVI). Hope that helps!

    Don't buy

    It just doesn't work. Screen is waving, changing colors. Often I cannot even choose the resolution I want for my external screen. I've tried with two diffrent screens, and none of them worked good. This cable behaves like the worst Microsoft product and Apple pretends not to see it.

    VGA adapter

    I am new to MAC and just got my macbook a week ago. I've already used this adapter on 2 different projectors for different presentations I have given. It worked without any problems. I just hooked it up and it worked. Very simple (and I am definitely not computer savvy).

    We use these at our church to display song lyrics on a screen. So far, we go through about one of these cable each year. Not cool apple. Not cool.

    It works. Oddly enough you need to plug a VGA cable into the"RGB" port on the TV. Then you must select the input not the COMP-1 or COMP-2/RGB port but just the simple RGB which you must scroll down past the 4 HDMI selections. This is easy to miss and seems all wrong but it works GREAT! Now I want the 70" monitor!!!

    Title says it all. It does what's needed (for me at least). Im using a LG Flatron and it works just fine. Only wish it had a longer cord. The short distance between the MiniDisplay and VGA ports is small enough that it interferes with my USB devices on my MacBook Pro 13"

    I've bought two of these and I'm not happy. Twice it has just abruptly stopped working for no reason. It worked great at first both times. Now I need another one (or something comparable... Again.

    Just bought this and a samsung sa550 for my macbook. I plugged it in and it worked. I have to say that those people having problems with it, it is most likely a user problem and not a hardware one.

    Excellent Adapter

    This adapter works perfectly. I use it to connect my 13" MBP to my 23" Samsung monitor as well as 46" Samsung TV. Both the monitor and TV support 1080p, so when I connect my mac to either one it puts out 1920x1080 at 60 hz which looks crystal clear. I believe some of the problems people are having with this is that they are using the adapter to connect their macs to monitors or televisions that do not support macs so the picture is either distorted or does not come through clear. This is a great product and I would recommend it to anyone, however do your research to be sure that the monitor or tv you are trying to connect your mac to is supported.
