Works with Cintiq 21UX and iMac 27"

    • Written by from Los Angeles

Don't make the mistake of buying the Single Link DVI-D to Mini display port version for $30 like I did you need this $100 Dual-Link version to connect a Cintiq a to a mini display port it's even recommended in the wacom hardware manual the cheaper cable will give lots of random pixels flickering while painting.

Four stars nothing wrong with it, apart from being over priced.

    Woe is me

    • Written by from Palo Alto

Just like everyone else ... it's bad enough to pay $100 for a cable, but then it's really bad when it gives you white static lines across areas of the screen that are black. To make it worse, I bought two of them.

    A great disappointment

    • Written by from Soquel

I bought a 30" cinema display, and loved it. Then I bought a new MacBook Pro with the dreaded mini DisplayPort. No problem Apple has a converter box, right? WRONG.

This is a terrible piece of junk. Any area of the display with a single dark color is plagued with noise. It wrecked my investment. Thanks for letting me down Apple.

    works fine for me!

    • Written by from Abu dhabi

I have upgraded my monitor to Apple 30" cinema and used it with my old system for about 3 months. Then I decided to upgrade my system to the latest 15" macbook por with 2.8Ghz.

I freaked when I knew later that this was the only way to connect those two and it basically sucked based on the reviews. But I bought it anway.

I should say that everything is working fine for a week now. There is no issues what so ever. I played some movies on it and all worked fine. I also used it for photo editing and didn't notice anything yet. It may be because everything I have is brand new (the monitor, the laptop, the osx, and the converter) or mabye because I got lucky. Mabye, I have not noticed anything as of yet. So, I'm going to keep using the system and update this my comment if anything comes up. But until then, this converter works fine.

    Mostly not usable

    • Written by from Atlanta

I've had this adapter since I bought my new MacBook in May. It was always flaky but it's getting worse. It loosing sync with the Mac and bounces back and forth between just the Mac's screen and the Cinema Display screen. And sometimes it just doesn't work at all.

    I need something that WORKS.

    Firmware version update?

    • Written by from Wien

I also have sometimes pixel noise, it can be seen best on black background and it mostly happens when the display wakes up from sleep.

I just read the review which says that there is a new firmware version (1.02) that might fix these problems (mine has 1.01). Is there any chance to update the firmware version myself?

    Avoid at all costs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Written by from Westchester

I really wanted this to work, I didnt want to believe all the bad reviews about this product. But as soon as I got it home and connected it to my new mac mini (Nvidia) within 10 minutes my 30" Apple cinema display got the snow and artifacts on the screen and the only way to get the picture back was to restart the mini and replug in the adapter. Lately apple has been really disappointing me. It seems to me that there quality is going down the drain. I wont even get into what a bad experience I had trying to return the mini and the cable. They wont be getting my business anymore if this continues.

    flicker

    • Written by from Norman

I thought I would be one of the lucky ones after waiting 3 months for my adapter.... I guess not. I have slight flickering and my wired mouse tends to be very jumpy. Honestly, if I would have known this beforehand, I would not have bought the new MBP.

Not working with my Gateway XHD3000

    • Written by from HELSINKI

The adapter did not support the full native resolution (2560x1600) of my Gateway XHD3000. No reason for me to use this adapter, so I returned the product. Very disappointing as this was the primary setup I was planning to use.

    Stopped working.

    • Written by from Richland

Worked great for a few months and then....bang. Nothing. For an outrageous $99 this thing should at least last a year!! What was wrong with the old system and a direct DVI connection? One of the nicest features of the older MacBooks. Is this progress? Or just an evil method of Apple collecting another $100 from everyone to be able to plug into a monitor?

    Flicker

    • Written by from Chanhassen

Connected to the Cinema HD 30", to the iMac LED 27".

The adapter works, but the screen has scattered horizontal flicker (graphical artifacts that last for, oh, 1/60th of a second) that is very, very annoying. Especially visible with a darker background.

Disappointed. Gave the produce 2 stars instead of 1 star, because it is makeshift usable.

One of the other posters said that they switched to using a powered USB hub and his problem went away. Tried using a Belkin powered USB hub, but that did not change the flicker issue.

Firmware version 1.03. Hopefully the problem will get fixed with firmware version 1.04.

    Works great..price too high

    • Written by from Manchester

I was nervous about buying this adapter after reading all the bad reviews before hand. I went for it anyway, and it works great. Using a Dell 30" 3007WFPHC monitor, with no picture problems at all. It's as sharp as anything.

Please ensure you have a DUAL LINK DVI cable...not a normal DVI cable as the adapter then causes problems. I didn't realise the first time round when I plugged in my normal DVI cable.... just make sure it is a DUAL LINK version.

Too pricey... for what it is. Hence the 4 stars

    Horrible

    • Written by from San Jose

Many issues with this adaptor. My 30 inch display works fine with my MacBook Pro and a WIndows 7 PC but with my Mac Mini (mid 2010) no go - constant flickers, blackouts and the display flashes a "video not supported" error. Lot's of turning off/on, disconnecting, etc.

Purchased Mini DisplayuPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter

    • Written by from Mississauga

Read these reviews but I have a Dell 30", Dell 24" and Samsung 22" (all of which work fine on

    1) Screen flickers once in a while (tolerable) but diappointing.
    2) Now when coming back from sleep, screen messed up.
Have to reboot to fix which is particularly irritating as I have many apps open.

    Apple PowerBook 13.3" 10.6 bought dec 2009.
    1.02 Firmware on adapter.

    Overall ... very very disappointing.

    ah.....

    • Written by from Bradford

I was just about to curse my apple store having read these reviews and bought one to use with my HP LP3065 screen...and of course it came up as a jibberish screen.

Fortunately I also have my PC hooked into the same monitor and decided to check the cable I was using for it to hook up and get its 2560x1600 res, it was different ....oops I had totally forgotten that I needed a duallink cable as well as the adapter.....a quick swap over and it works fine now. I don't think everyone here will have made the same mistake but its possible some will so I hope this helps.

Anyway..as far as a review goes, it does its job well enough now that I have the correct cable, but I'm not mad keen on the hanging out the back concept here, would surely have been easier to have a duallink dvi on the unit itself?

    Flakey Performance with MacBook Air

    • Written by from Christchurch

Using this product with MacBook Air (Latest Model 2009) and an Apple 30' cinema display. Im experience problems with displaying images where you get bright colors on highlights and sometimes you even get colour fading from an image - noticeable if you scroll an image - ie the image starts out colour then scroll it down the 30' display it starts to go black and white.

Not impressed - will log fault with Apple.

alas, this mac hardware does not work well

    • Written by from Edmonton

it's the only way for me to attach my macair to 30inch LCD monitor (Samsung 305T), but it does not work solid at all. Every couple of hours or so image gets bad and I have take it out and plug it in again. Hopefully it will be fixed or 3 part cable will become available on the market.

Unfortunately I have to chime in and complain.

    • Written by from Saint James

I'm using this with a Samsung SyncMaster 305T. Some days I have to unplug and plugin this adapter to reset things once or twice a day. Other days though it's Every 10 minutes to the point I'm about to throw it in the garbage. The screen goes "blurry"... it's kind of hard to explain how it looks, but it's definitely unusable in that state.

I'm hanging on till the day that Apple may be able to solve this issue with a software and/or firmware upgrade. PLEASE!!!

Don't buy this counting on reliability.
