Others have expressed concerns about it not working with a Dell 3007 monitor and a macbook pro with retina display.

All that was necessary to make it work was to hold down the option key when I selected Scaling for the Dell display. This gave me the choice for the full resolution, and it's beautiful.

I have been using the $99 dual-link adapter for about 8 hours, and all is well. The price is rather painful, but as long as it works, I won't whine too much.

I wish I didn't have to contact my local Apple store to figure out that I needed this product. It would have been nice for this info to be more apparent for us large-display users.

After making the connection, I rebooted my system. Strangely, it took a few minutes to boot my new Mini Mac. For the three previous days I had been using the new Mini (tolerating the fuzzy/jaggy screen image), booting had been swift. So the long boot-time had me fearing the new connection wasn't going to work. Big sigh of relief when it did!

To reiterate what others have posted here: This review is for the special DUAL (meaning two connections) link adapter. In my case, it takes the DVI and USB connections off my Syncmaster display and converts them into thunderbolt and USB connections for the Mac Mini.

Bought this for my 30 inch Cinema Display and 2011 MBP and it works great at 2560x1600. I am also using a video switch for when I need to use my PC for gaming and I am very happy with it.

Not sure why all the negative reviews. I would assume human error.

Bought this to run my 2560x1440 monitor with my 2011 MBP and it works flawlessly. It just worked.

hooked up my 2006 30" Apple Cinema Display with this adapter to my 2009 MBP and it works perfectly. The display has the pin connector, usb and FW400 and of course the adapter just has the pin connector and usb... BUT... letting the FW400 dangle with no connection, it worked perfectly. Very happy I got this, as my Mac Pro is already surpassed by the MBP I have, and the 2012 version on order.

I bought this to use with my Macbook Pro Retina laptop and found that it only provides DVI-D Single Link - not Dual Link - output. My 30" Dell 3007WFP display requires DVI-D Dual Link in order to display its native 2560x1600 resolution. With this adapter, I can only use the display at a resolution of 1280x800. Others have reported getting Dual Link output from systems like the Macbook Air, so it seems like the problem is with the MBP Retina, not necessarily with this product.

I use this to connect my 11" Air to a 27" WQHD non-Apple monitor (I had tried HDMI and regular DVI adapters and couldn't get full resolution). Most of the time, the D-L DVI adapter works fine and the picture looks great.

About 1/10 times if I wake up my monitor from sleep, it looks great for a second or two, but then overlays the entire displayed image with a weird static. You can still barely see the picture, but you wouldn't want to use it. To recover from this, I often have to unplug the adapter from my Air and try again, sometimes multiple times are required. Also, it uses up a USB port and the pass-through one it provides does not provide much power: a mouse works, but the USB->Ethernet adapter does NOT work, nor does the external superdrive.

Despite the endless series of negative reviews, I bought this to connect a Samsung 305T to my MacBook Pro 15" Early 2011, and it seems to be working just fine at 2560x1600 (not mirroring) for now. It is too expensive so I really can't give 5-stars.

Hope my words could help hesitant people make their decision to buy this adapter for non-Apple displays.

This allows me to use my 30" Apple Cinema Display with my new Macbook Pro, however it is not a product i feel is up to Apple's standards. occasionally, my screen will develop digital noise across it, as well as the USB connections on the back of the monitor can be flaky as well. i actually have to restart my machine to fix these issues which is a real pain. You would think that since this is just a piece of hardware that there wouldn't be so many issues. Been using it for over a year now and really hate it, but there is no other alternative that i know of besides buying one of Apple's newest monitors, which don't go up to 30"
