Reviews for Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter

I bought this a few months back, and I've found it to be reliable and free of defects. I use it for work to connect my 2009 13 inch macbook pro to my even older 30 inch cinema display. It works perfectly all day long, every day.

Plugged this adapter into the back of my iMac 27" and then to a DVI-D dual cable (purchased from Radio Shack), which I then plugged into one of the three DVI-D on the back of my hp LP3065 30" monitor and it worked immediately! In fact, my 30" monitor is higher resolution then the iMac monitor, which I'm sharing between two different computers (iMac and Microsoft Vista). Note: make sure you buy a DVI-D dual cable.

One small quirk: because my hp monitor is higher resolution then the iMac, if I extend a window on the hp monitor to greater resolution then the iMac, I can't move the window back to the iMac.

With all of the poor reviews here, I was a bit hesitant to purchase one of these, but figured that I could always return it if there were any initial problems.

I am using it to connect my MacBook Pro with Retina Display to a 27", 2560x1440 resolution auria monitor and it's worked flawlessly. It sleeps/wakes properly and works after disconnecting and reconnecting when I take the MacBook with me.

As you would expect, you must be using a Dual-Link DVI cable to connect the adapter to the monitor or you will not get the full resolution that you're after. Other than that, it should, as Apple says, "Just work!", which it did for me.

Not sure why all the negative reviews. I would assume human error.

Bought this to run my 2560x1440 monitor with my 2011 MBP and it works flawlessly. It just worked.

With a MiniDisplayPort To HDMI I already know how to mirror, you go to System Preferences then click display then go to arrangement then click mirror or whatever it says.

For those having issues with duel-link DVI, look no further than your DVI cable and make sure it is the duel-link DVI cable which is different from the standard DVI cable sold at most stores. If you are using a standard DVI cable, you will only get a single DVI channel with half the resolution. I am using this adapter on an Alienware X17+ R3 3D laptop hooked into an old Dell 3007FWP DVI port (its the only one on this model) and the image is smooth and clear with no observable artifacts. Took me a while to figure out that the previous mini-DP to DVI adapter I tried was only a single link DVI port giving 1280x800 resolution. The Apple adapter works like a charm when used as intended and is preferable to Dell's adapter which requries an aditiional adapter to convert the mini-DP to standard DP..

Recently assembled a gaming computer with an AMD 6870 graphics card. I wanted to take advantage of the eyfinity ability of the graphics card and needed an active mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter. The alternative on Amazon was on back order.

Unfortunately AMD did not have the Apple adapter on their tested list but after much reading posts here I decided to try it. I read a lot about flickering issues and scrambled screens and also found a posting where someone used a USB powered hub without any issues. This adapter is working fantastic while being powered via an externally powered USB hub. No flickering and no scrambled display image. I have not yet tested with motherboard USB power.

My setup is 3 Lenovo L2262w monitors 1920 x 1080 each. One connected via adapter the other 2 are connected with the 2 DVI ports on card. Gaming at 5760 x 1080 is fun.

This product works as advertised, however, you need to use a dual-link DVI cable, which is different than the single-link DVI cable you most likely have lying around. To tell the difference, a single-link DVI cable has 3 pins, a gap, and then another 3 pins whereas a dual link DVI cable has pins running all the way across with no gap.

I originally had a single-link DVI cable and was experiencing the horrible resolution issues others are talking about. Buying the right cable changed all that and now it works great!

I had concerns about buying this because of all the bad reviews but went ahead anyway because I would have had to buy a new monitor. It worked perfectly for connecting a mac mini to a 30 inch Apple Cinema display with full 2560 x 1600 resolution. I found it awesome!

Using mid-2011 13 inch MacBook Air to drive a 30 inch Dell display. 3007WFPHC at 2600 x 1600. After reading the comments, I connected the USB plug to my iPad charger, so that it can draw as much power as it might need. I am not sure if connecting to the macbook air usb will also work.
