    Sleep problems with firmware update 1.3

    Setup: Mac Pro 2010 with ATI Radeon 5870 with two duallink DVI to minidisplayport adapters and three DELL 1920*1080 LCD monitors.

    After sleep the computer frequently hangs for a while and then responds again. Time for another firmware update?

    Works reliably after 2 years of usage but has a bug

    I have been using this adaptor for 2 years to connect my Mac Air to a Dell U2711 27-inch display. The connector is needed to drive the display at its high resolution native mode. The connector has worked reliably except that, every once in a while, the display shows static white noise. The problem disappears after I unplug the display's dvi port from the adapter and plug it again. I honestly do not know if this is an adapter problem or a display problem, but some other reviewer has also commented having this problem when using his adapter, so I suspect that it must be a problem with the adapter. The problem, although annoying, hasn't been serious enough for me to diagnose it further.

    Died after 4 months

    I read the negative reviews of the adapter... but having a 30 inch cinema display I need to use with my Retina MacBook Pro, there weren't a lot of options.

    Worked fine until... yesterday when I came back to my desk and my system had shut down due to a kernel panic. Joy, upon reboot discovered that all my email accounts were wiped out. 3 hours later after restoring MacOS and all my data from backups i discovered it was the DVI Adapter that failed and caused the panic. Wow.

    Works well with a good cable (2012 15" Retina MBP)

    I bought this too hook my MBP up to a Yamakasi Catleap monitor. Works great with very few issues. Once in awhile after waking from sleep, the monitor will have static in the picture, but if I just turn it off and on, it goes away. Extended use does not yield any sort of issues.

    It is a little expensive, but most dual link dvi->mini display cables are. The relocated USB port is actually convenient for plugging my VPN token in, as it ends up right in front of me on my desk.

    Awful

    Starts off ok, but over time this becomes almost unusable. I've used the Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter for just over a year with a 2011 MacBook Pro with Thunderbolt port and Dell 30" monitor. For the first few months I didn't have any problems, or none that couldn't be fixed by simply toggling the monitor off/on. But over the last few months the problem has increased in frequency and severity. Often the only way to get my monitor back is to shut down my system for an hour. If I'm lucky I may get a few hours of work afterwards. If not the snow/distorted pixels, flashing, blinking, and gray/black screen will reappear a few minutes after starting up.

    I did not have any problems (and still don't ) using this monitor with a 2007 MacBook Pro with built in Dual-Link port.

    Sorry, it there are typos in this post. My monitor is blinking on and off and pixels are distorted with snow, so I can't proofread what I've typed.

    Works with Mac Mini 2012

    Work perfectly with the "Thuderbolt" port on the Mac Mini. I have a 30" Cinema Display that I purchased about 6 years ago from Apple (a testament to Apple quality). I had a second generation 2,3 Mac Mini and purchase the Dual-Link inorder to display the full resolution of the Cinema Display. Recently I purchase a new i7 Mac Mini and hooked up the display using the DVI to HDMI and was amazed at the low resolution. I got online with Apple and they figured out that the "Thuderbolt" port supports the "Mini-Display" plug. I hooked it up just like the old Mac Mini and it works perfectly! I guess "Thuderbolt" is either "Mini-Display" with a new name or it just is very flexible?

    Works great, but super expensive!

    First of all I got next day delivery despite opting for free delivery so that was a bonus.

    Product works as intended. I am using it with an early 2011 15inch Macbook Pro with a Dell 3007WFPHC (30inch 2560 x 1600). I have tested it with both OSX and Windows (via Bootcamp) and again there doesn't seem to be any problems.

    I haven't experienced any flickering, but the laptop is set to use high performance mode when plugged in (this is a suggested fix for the flickering some people are seeing) so perhaps that is why.

    The only issue though is price, $99 before tax is insane for an adapter! Oh and it's HUGE for a DVI Adapter as well (which is more comical than anything).

    it does flicker occasionally but it works

    I have two Dell 30's running on one video card, and they do flicker occasionally. It's annoying, usually requires a reboot, and I don't know why. I opened a support case at Apple just in case it got worse, but so far it's pretty rare, and when it's working the resolution is magnificent - 2500x1900, very sharp and quick.

    Do not buy it if you have an Apple Cinema Display 30 ¨

    Does not work with an Apple Cinema Display 30¨ and a macbook air summer 2012. When time passes, appear blinking dotted lines, and are unbearable to behold. It is unfortunate that Apple did not check their Apple products before selling something.

    Fine so far

    Despite reviews to the contrary, the Dual-Link Adapter is performing almost perfectly after 3 days. Video performance has been flawless with my 30" HD Cinema Display hooked to my new Mac Mini (replacing my aging Mac Pro). The only hiccup that I've noticed thus far is that audio has twice dropped from my USB speakers that are plugged into my display USB port (defaulting the the Mini's speaker). So there has been the minor annoyance of re-selecting my speakers in the Sound Preference. It's not yet clear if this will be a daily event or is triggered by a specific operation.

    BTW, if you have the the 30"HD display, don't even consider the HMDI adapter as a viable alternative. It's functional, but the poor resolution will hurt your head.

    Complete garbage.

    The worst adapter I have ever had the displeasure of using. Sleep->Resume usually results in digital snow, sometimes the display randomly cuts out while being used. It's a rampant problem with these adapters with no fix in sight from Apple. Do not buy!

    Intermittent freezing and statatic

    I have used this with both a Dell 2407WFP-HC and a Benq Q24W5. Roughly 33% of the time, upon waking the MBP from sleep the external screen is covered with coloured noise. Even worse, once in a while (maybe 1 out of 10 times), while unplugging and plugging the adapter back in the entire system locks up with the blue "I'm examining the displays" screen. Only get the Dual-Link adapter if you *really* need it. Get a single-link (or HDMI or regular display port) adapter if at all possible.

    I bought this a few months back, and I've found it to be reliable and free of defects. I use it for work to connect my 2009 13 inch macbook pro to my even older 30 inch cinema display. It works perfectly all day long, every day.

    Adapter works as long as updated model

    This adapter works fine, I have a 30" Cinema Display running. I think most of the negative comments result from the earlier model which has an outdated bios version. If you do purchase from other source, make sure it is the latest model production. Wish adapter supported firewire is my only criticism.

    replaced adapter to solve flicker issues

    I had all kinds of sporadic flicker and static issues with this adapter on a 2009 mac mini. Couldn't isolate the problem. Everything cleared up when the apple store replaced the adapter.

    Works fantastic with my new MBP and the Apple 30" cinema display

    After reading the bad press on the adapter I wanted to be 100% sure that my 30" display was going to work with the new MBP, so I boxed it up and took it to our local Apple store. The sales people were more than willing to provide this adapter to connect it to the new MBP. They only had the Retina display models, but since the Retina and the anti-glare models (which is the one I wanted to buy) use the same video card and I figured if it works with one it will work with the other and IT DID. As soon as I saw it worked I placed the order.

    I just received my new MBP 2.7GHz I7, 8 GB ram, 512 SDD with the 15" antiglare screen and connected to my 30" cinema display this adapter and I have full 2560x1600 resolution. In fact, I would say the overall quality being displayed on the 30" is actually better than it was using my 2008 MacBook Pro that I just replaced.

    USB3 Please

    I'd love to use this as a mini dock for my Macbook Air. I can put my Air in the stand, plug in power, usb3, display and have all of my USB devices and monitors attached via this adapter and a usb3 hub.

    (this would suffice until the thunderbolt docks are released...)

    Gives static/snow when waking from sleep mode

    I decided to buy this adapter due to the fact that they updated its firmware to 1.03. Turns out it didn't fix anything. It still gives a static/snow distortion to the external display when waking up your computer from sleep mode.

    missing pins

    Will not accept all cables/adapters. Is missing holes for some pins. Attempting to plug a DVI cable too forcefully may damage your cable. FAIL
