With a DVI to HDMI cable.

This is a really great adapter for getting your MacBook Pro to view DVI. The new DisplayPort connections are much easier to work with than the old Mini DVI I had on my PowerBook. But come on Apple! Why couldn't you include these in the MacBook Pro box like you did on the PowerBook? I shelled out the extra money "since I need them", but it would have been better to include them in the box since I did invest a lot of money in my machine.

Won't work with DVI-I devices. If it is not a universal mini displayport to DVI adapter don't call it such. Educate the people in the store who hand this to me when I say "I need an adapter to hook this up to my DVI monitor". I've wasted an hour an a half on the train to buy it and now need to waste another hour and a half to return it. Huge waste of time and big disappointment.

This is an Apple product and I am an Apple evangelist and have been for many years. Imagine my disappointment when something as simple as an adapter doesn't. What's the problem? That's even more disappointing - it doesn't make a secure connection between my Cintiq and the adapter. On any DVI female connection, there is a slot for the "blade" pin to go into; with two regular pins above and below it. On our Apple version, the holes above and below are simply too small to accept those pins.

It just doesn't fit. From a company that engineers it's laptops from solid blocks of aluminum, I'd expect a little better. If I could give this zero stars, I would - a complete waste.

I was excited to open my new iMac and get it set up and going when I realized that the adapter from my other iMac did not fit onto my new iMac. Once again, I have to buy a new adapter which is ridiculous. I agree that these should be included with all new macs if they are going to continuously be changing the ports. This is something that I need and Apple is using the change to try and nickle-and-dime it's customers. I feel that there is less and less difference between MAcs and PCs as time goes on.

I recently bought the MDPort to DVI-adapter for my recently purchased MBP 13". At first, when I connected the adapter to my MBP, I got a blue screen, which then went back to regular desktop view. I then turned on my Dell monitor. I got nothing on the screen, just blank/black. The MBP couldn't "detect" any external display. I tried this a couple times, different sequence of hooking up cable, etc. and it didn't work. I read two reviews here that said they used the same monitor as I have and it worked, so i was wondering what the problem was. I borrowed my friend's VGA adapter, and that worked fine, even after the MBP was on. So, I tried again the DVI cable, by first having the MBP off, connecting the cables, and then turning on the MBP and later the Dell. Voila, it worked. Then someone suggested to me from the Apple communities, that the monitors like to be turned on before plugging in (which saves me the hassle from always having to reboot); which turned out to be true in my case. So what was once a frustrating experience, is now a good one, as the cable does work (i had returned it to get a 2nd dvi adapter b/c i thought the first one might be bad). I didn't think two adapters could have the same problem.

Anyways, I'm rambling, but I'm happy to say that it works!

Took off one star, just b/c I thought the adapter's price was a bit high at $29.99 (best buy)/$29 at apple.

This Mini Display Port works just as it should. I connected my DVI-D Single Link Cable that I brought from Amazon to this Display Port. WARNING it does not provide any sound. You will need an audio cable that connects from your head phone jack to your TV. WARNING you need a DVI-D Single Link Cable Not a DVI-I. Big Difference!

Why Apple refuses to design their own Mini Displayport to HDMI adapter or just price the adapters at $20 instead of $30 is beyond me... or why MacBook Pros don't include one of these adapters, since previous models of MacBook Pros had DVI ports on them.

Still, this adapter works well and I've had no significant issues with it.

This product worked great for me for several months until I updated my macbook pro 17 inch to OSX 10.7, after the update this adaptor completely stopped working for me. I have tried several different televisions and suggestions found on Apple support site and other helpful sites, nothing worked.

I purchased this DVI adapter for my Macbook's mini display port. It worked with an Asus 24 inch monitor for about three months and then failed. It would work intermittently when it did work. Sometimes it would output a signal and sometimes it would not. I recommend using VGA instead.
