Works just fine. Setup was a breeze. Plug and play no drivers necessary.

I bought the 2.13Ghz MBA and connected a 20" LG flat panel monitor. It works quite well and almost always without hesitation. If you mirror the displays and try to do something like watch movie via itunes, it will flicker occassionally. If you have it in extended desktop mode, it works just fine. It's a slight compromise for having the itty bitty MBA.

This works great even though I needed to go and buy a new one because my older black macbook used the larger size Mini display port. Oh well, it was worth it.

Connected to my 24" Gateway and it works flawlessly. I find the cable long enough and it mates perfectly with my DVI cable.

My MacBook Pro is connected through this adapter to a ViewSonic DVI port and my PC is connected to the ViewSonic VGA port, making it easy to switch the ViewSonic to show either machine. Worked out of the box, no problems.

I have now purchased three of these adapters. To my suprise non of them work with any display I connect them to. I spent over $1300 on this 13" MBP and was really looking forward to using it with one of our monitors in the offices. Where is the fix Apple?!!!

Check it before leaving the store.

Unless you live really close to the apple store, I would ask them to check this on a machine in the store before leaving. Bought one today, bought my second monitor, hooked it up and nothing. Swapped cables, nothing. Called Apple Tech support, they had me do a few things, ended up back at the store. Tested my purchased one on their computer, nothing. Took another from the package, nothing. The manager allowed me to have one more, but could not test it there. 18 miles later, it works.

Seems like a shame to have to get an adapter for a dual port video card, but $29 is not bad after spending money on the Mac Pro.

    Worst Adapter EVER!

The cable for the DVI to Mini DisplayPort is about an inch long. Are you kidding me? This puts a lot of pressure on the minidisplay port on my macbook pro. Any slight movement and it bends the displayport inside the macbook. So if your planning to hook it up to a laptop, be prepared to shell out a few hundred dollars to replace your mini display port on your macbook in a few months. Makes you wonder if apple did this to make more money?

This might cost a bit, but it's top notch quality. The first one I got was defective, so I took off one star. But the level of professional customer support I got (I got yelled at when i went to Fry's) from Apple made me add one star. They tested the defective one, took out a 20" ACD and tried it. Then they gave me a new one, and opened it + tested it before I bought it. Fry's, Best Buys would have shoved me out the door. I know the later has done that before.

I bought this cable and a DVI to HDMI cable to hook up my macbook pro to a 40" samsung LCD. You will also need a Y audio cable to get the sound. After hook up, close the top enough to make the laptop sleep. Then use an ipod remote to navigate the menu. The product works great.

It works perfectly on my iMac with connected Dell 2007WFP via DVI-D.
I wish only if there was a way to duplicate the menu bar so to be able to have two on the two monitors :)), but that is not in relation to the adapter, so I set 5 stars!

does not work with apple DVI to RGB converter

    • Written by from Gateshead

I bought this along with my new macbook, thinking that I could connect my VGA monitors via the old apple DVI to RGB converter that came with my mac mini. It does not work, as the old converter is DVI-I and the new converter is DVI-D. How frustrating! As others have pointed out, why on earth doesn't apple provide a DVI-I connection on this adaptor?

This Works With My 13.3" Aluminum Macbook

This Mini Display Port works just as it should. I connected my DVI-D Single Link Cable that I brought from Amazon to this Display Port. WARNING it does not provide any sound. You will need an audio cable that connects from your head phone jack to your TV. WARNING you need a DVI-D Single Link Cable Not a DVI-I. Big Difference!

I bought this for my brand new Samsung Monitor and MacBook Pro.

The adapter simply does not work in that configuration although my older MacBook Pro with the regular DVI cable does work with the monitor.

I ended up exchanging it for the VGA adapter. Old technology seems to be the only thing that works for these 1 month old devices.

Second Display with not turn on

    • Written by from Decatur

Sometimes when the display that is connected to the Mini DisplayPort to DVI is connected nothing will be displayed. Most of the time this happens when the machine comes out of sleep mode. Unplugging and replugging does not work either. I have rebooted the machine and nothing seems to work. The screen will flicker when the second monitor is connected so it see it but no signal is sent to the monitor.

I got this adaptor for my Samsung Sync Master HDTV monitor. Initially they suggested a wrong adaptor, but they exchanged it with the right one. I am new with Apple and still finding my ways with my Macbook. But with this adaptor, it was so simple: just connect it, and that was it! Tech support people are great too.

Not backwards compatible with DVI -> VGA adapter

    • Written by from Amityville

73 of 77 people found this useful

If you still have your DVI -> VGA adaptor that came with the previous generation of laptops and where thinking that with purchasing this item you would be able to use that adapter to go from mini display port -> DVI -> VGA and save money instead of having to buy separate Mini D -> DVI and Mini D -> VGA, you thought wrong.

The product works as specified but I gave it 3 stars for lack of compatibility which when developing a product is something you should consider, also lack of information about this products compatibility and function on the packaging itself when purchased in store.
