    I bought at Samsung syncMaster923nw

    Love it!

Although if you want it to look good you need to go into your display settings and up the output. Look awesome!!!

    No Analog signal

    • Written by from Montreal

Cannot use this with any analog adapter.

I wanted to plug into my projector, didn't have an HDMI cable on hand so decided I could use my DVI to composite adapter along with this Thunderbolt to DVI.
NO GO. This does not allow analog connectors. The move to phase out analog is probably to enforce DRM, Shame because I'm an artist creating my own content and I had to come up with a very hack solution to get MY content projected out of MY laptop.

This adaptor is useless with your DVI to VGA or DVI to Composite or any other DVI-A connector.

Very frustrating that the new MBPs only equipped with Thunderbolt and USB makes it very hard to get any signal in or out of it without the need to buy a whole bunch of new types of cables or interfaces.

    Not very good

    • Written by from LAGUNA NIGUEL

I bought this to connect to my very high end HP monitor and it does not work. Makes the screen blow up and looks like an old VGA monitor. I would try one before you buy one.

Junk, no analog, picture drops out

    • Written by from Pasadena

This is junk. It should support analog over the same wire. Picture occasionally just drops out and I have to "power cycle" my adapter by unplugging it and plugging it back in. This of course drags all my windows onto the same screen. Not worth it.

    Great Product

    • Written by from FONTANA

This works great even though I needed to go and buy a new one because my older black macbook used the larger size Mini display port. Oh well, it was worth it.

    Broke within a few Months

    • Written by from Charlestown

Worked just fine on all of my monitors but broke with in a few months. The apple store kindly replaced it without question when I visited them in person with an emailed receipt. The break seemed to be a connection issue, when the dongle was touched when plugged in it would lose its connection if you touched or moved the computer.

    Purple

    • Written by from Dover

Everything is purple when I connect my Cinema Display to my Mac Pro using the Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter (but at least I get a picture, which is better than the Dual-Link adaptor.)

Confucius says: Researching a product BEFORE buying leads to satisfaction!

    • Written by from Fairport

This is an excellent product that performs quite well if you understand its intended purpose. I use it in conjunction with a 22" HP w2207h LCD monitor via DVI to HDMI cable. I have no complaints. Any limitations are a result of the way Mini DisplayPort has to "emulate" a legacy DVI signal or the monitor itself, not the actual adapter.

It appears that some people are being mislead into leaving bad reviews, but in the end, User Error is to blame. To clarify, this is a SINGLE Link DVI adapter, intended to be used in conjunction with a SINGLE external monitor. Apple also sells a "Mini DisplayPort to DUAL-LINK DVI" adapter if you need to run, you guessed it, dual monitors!

That said, if you purchase a SINGLE-link adapter intending to run DUAL monitors, you'll be disappointment and logically assume it's because your MacBook Pro is vastly inferior to your neighbor's Vista laptop, not because you purchased the wrong item!

Mini Display to DVI Adaptor caused bent pins

    • Written by from MATAWAN

I purchased this to connect my MacBook Pro to a projectior. It did not connect well to my DVI cable for the projector and did not work. I tried changing resoultions, I pushed it in and thought I had made connection. but still no go!.When I pulled it out I saw that the adaptor had bent the pins on my cable to the projector. I though it was new so being tight was the issue. NO I HAVE TO GO BACK TO THE APPLE STORE. I have a BAD projector cable and my MacBook Pro still does not work. I AM VERY UNHAPPY AND DISAPPOINTED.

    ADAPTER DOES NOT WORK!

    • Written by from Fairfield

I have now purchased three of these adapters. To my suprise non of them work with any display I connect them to. I spent over $1300 on this 13" MBP and was really looking forward to using it with one of our monitors in the offices. Where is the fix Apple?!!!

    Kinda Short

    • Written by from San Mateo

It's 4" long - so what cable is it an adapter FOR? I have a brand new MacBook pro and an existing monitor with a DVI port. This adapter won't reach the monitor port, so what "basic" cable for the MacBook does this "adapt"?

DID NOT WORK FOR TV CONNECTION

    • Written by from Coal City

New owner of MAC from a PC

Called Apple support, told them I want to connect my 13 inch MBP to our TV so we can all enjoy a movie downloaded from ITunes. My TV, only has RCA and S-Video inputs. Support said that is ok I just need to buy the Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter that will connect to the MBP. THEN buy the Apple DVI to Video Adapter and an S-video or RCA Yellow video cable and all is good except the sound.

So instead of buying it over the phone I went to an Apple store so I can start watching the movies right away. The salesperson there assured me this will also work and I was in and out of the store within 10 minutes!

WRONG! The Mini DisplayPort to DVI has a SLIGHTLY different DVI pin configuration than the Apple DVI to Video Adapter. When coupled together it CRUSHES the pins in BOTH. Now $55 dollars later I have to ruined adapters, and I am not any closer to my original goal. I should have stayed with a PC!

    Worst Adapter EVER!

    • Written by from Wesley Chapel

The cable for the DVI to Mini DisplayPort is about an inch long. Are you kidding me? This puts a lot of pressure on the minidisplay port on my macbook pro. Any slight movement and it bends the displayport inside the macbook. So if your planning to hook it up to a laptop, be prepared to shell out a few hundred dollars to replace your mini display port on your macbook in a few months. Makes you wonder if apple did this to make more money?

Does NOT work with a 2008 MacBook

    • Written by from West Shokan

What the heck!?! I have a 2008 Macbook and this product cannot be plugged into it! I believed the reviews that said I could use this with a cable to play things from my laptop to my HDTV. No luck! This is SUCH a bummer. I've been waiting for weeks to use my tv and STILL cannot find the right cable to make it work. Very Frustrating!!!!!!!!
