Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter
Incompatible With Cintiq
Written by AH from Cedar Rapids
Oct 4, 2009
This adapter is not compatible with the Cintiq. I didn't bother reading the other reviews before purchasing it.
It gets 2 starts because it looks really neat.5 of 12 people found this useful

Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter
Check it before leaving the store.
Written by JT from Boca Raton

Unless you live really close to the apple store, I would ask them to check this on a machine in the store before leaving. Bought one today, bought my second monitor, hooked it up and nothing. Swapped cables, nothing. Called Apple Tech support, they had me do a few things, ended up back at the store. Tested my purchased one on their computer, nothing. Took another from the package, nothing. The manager allowed me to have one more, but could not test it there. 18 miles later, it works.
Seems like a shame to have to get an adapter for a dual port video card, but $29 is not bad after spending money on the Mac Pro.16 of 19 people found this useful

Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter
does not work with apple DVI to RGB converter
Written by RP from Gateshead
Jun 18, 2009
I bought this along with my new macbook, thinking that I could connect my VGA monitors via the old apple DVI to RGB converter that came with my mac mini. It does not work, as the old converter is DVI-I and the new converter is DVI-D. How frustrating! As others have pointed out, why on earth doesn't apple provide a DVI-I connection on this adaptor?

FYI, no 1920x1200
Written by VP from SOUTH SAINT PAUL

It was my understanding of the single-link DVI spec that it could handle the 1920x1200 resolution of my 26" monitor. Seems like 1920x1080 is the max, so I just wasted $30. Whoops.

Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter
Not compatible with Apple DVI-VGA adapter.
Written by WM from Vancouver
Feb 2, 2009
I was happy to see the results when I hooked up my MacBook to my TV, but then when I tried to use this adapter with an older Apple DVI-VGA adapter cable, no go. I needed to connect the two in order to use a data projector with only VGA inputs. Now I have to scramble to find another way to use the projector.
Apple Store employees should tell you up front that this adapter isn't compatible with older (analog) cables, but they don't. That's why there are MANY people with experiences like mine.18 of 21 people found this useful

Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter
Not your usual DVI
Written by NH from College Place

Works great for digital only DVI. Will not work with a DVI to VGA adapter or some DVI cables.
I bought this expecting it to work just like the DVI port on my old MacBook Pro, found out it didn't when I was trying to hook a projector up for a colloquium presentation I was doing.
Don't forget to buy the VGA adapter as well if you are ever going to need to use VGA.

Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter
Mediocre product
Written by AP from Phoenix
Jan 7, 2009
Why does this adapter not have the four openings for DVI-D connectors? I cannot plug in half my monitors to it because the four pins around the large pin are missing! Even the original DVI-to-VGA adapter from apple wont plug into it! Other than that, it does it's job.

Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter
Plug is poorly designed - needs improvement
Written by MB from Portland
Dec 31, 2008
It functions fine for connecting a monitor to my MacBook, but the build quality is not what I expected from Apple.
The second time I used it, while trying to remove the the mini DisplayPort plug from the computer, the plug's outer sheath slipped off the "innards" of the plug, which remained in the port. I managed to work the sheath (almost) back into position, which is only press-fitted into place. It is difficult to thread the cord's strain relief back through the plug sheath.
It would be nice if the cord were longer, so I could stash the big clunky junction with the dvi cable behind my desk.
The smooth shiny finish of the tiny plug also makes it hard to grasp but that seems to be an Apple design paradigm. (I have the same beef with the mag safe connector.) Cmon Apple, you could do better.

Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter
Incompatible with my 21" Wacom Cintiq
Written by ER from Morgan Hill
Dec 13, 2008
My $2000 Wacom tablet uses DVI-I, and this cable is DVI-D. My brand new Macbook Pro (unibody) can't connect because of the pins. BE CAREFUL and check the pins on your hardware before buying this.

Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter
DVI drops Analog signal, DVI-D only
Written by DJ from Gray
Oct 24, 2008
We know the Mini DisplayPort can output an analog signal because there's a Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter. So why does this adapter drop the analog signal and go strictly to DVI-D (Digital only) instead of DVI-I (analog & digital)? The old MacBook Pro's had DVI-I. So this adapter is not a replacement to what used to come standard on MacBook Pros! I'm left very frustrated.
