Perfect as is.

Its a great compact drive to use with your MacBook Air does exactly as it should. Not sure why people think it should do more, its called the SuperDrive which is the Apple name for CD / DVD drives on all the other Macs.

Apple MacBook Air SuperDrive
Not the best....

This product did what it was supposed to do and nothing more. But the way it burned CDs was amazing. It didn't make any noise either, but it still would have been even better if it worked for more than just the macbook air. it definately was really amazing but could have been better.

Very Pleased...

I am very pleased with it. works very well with my Air, and hardly emits any noise.
I knew that it wouldent work with my other macs because since it runs off of the usb, theres a different amount of power needed for it.
Thanks Apple, Kudos!40 of 61 people found this useful

Apple MacBook Air SuperDrive
Suprisingly not so great!

This product was designed for the great MacBook Air, a product which is mind blowing, but is complimented with a product that is not so great!
The superdrive could have at least been designed to be wireless.
I am marketing manager for a manufacturing company and am required to travel a lot and attend exhibitions world wide. I need to work with CD's sometimes.
Now how impressive do you think it would be, when I start to work on my MacBook Air and access my CD, while my SuperDrive is still packed in my bag?! No cables, no unpacking, no taking up space, just one beautiful piece of mind blowing design displayed on site for everyone to feast their eyes on.... ;-)
Innovation, be it, don't just say it.72 of 139 people found this useful

It's another great product from Apple. It's light, and is a great product for a GREAT PRICE! However, does it ONLY work with the macbook air?

Works great but sometimes won't power on using boot camp . . .

I assume it's just a temporary problem and will be fixed with a driver update or something but it's really annoying right now . . .

Apple MacBook Air SuperDrive
Definitely a good purchase!

I just bought a MBA, and I am very happy that I also purchased with SuperDrive. For me, this is going to be great for backups and saving files that I don't use regularly (instead of keeping them on the hard drive).
It's really small, sleek, and as pretty as the MBA. I recommend this purchase!43 of 82 people found this useful

Apple MacBook Air SuperDrive
Light and compact, but doesn't share well.
Written by WM from Haverhill
Feb 10, 2008
The MacBook Air SuperDrive is light and compact as advertised. It slides into a bag pocket and hardly adds any weight or bulk. And it performs as advertised, quickly and quietly.
But, it consumes the MacBook Air's only USB port and works only with that one port -- it does not work with USB hubs! With no downstream ports of its own, you can't use your SuperDrive and any other USB device at the same time. Like a keyboard or mouse, or your iPhone or iPod, or a USB printer.
This is a remarkable oversight. But if you want to install Boot Camp or play DVDs, it's the only game in town.1348 of 1718 people found this useful

Apple MacBook Air SuperDrive
Not exactly "super" drive
Written by YW from Hood River

I gota say it IS very small and portable but Apple dosn't take advantage of this things designe. what i mean to say is, it dosn't do much, its only a regular disk drive. It would have been a lot more convinent if apple put in a few extra USB ports off to the side, or added an extra hard drive, considering the lack of space in the actual computer. Yes, it might have to be a bit bigger, but we wouldn't mind, it would make this product so much more useful.
