Old adaptor was more adaptive

Simply put, this product does what it does. It charges through a USB cable. However, I have 2 big issues with it. First the price. For a small adaptor plug, what is charged is much too high. But my bigger issue is that the old style design with the universal port and adaptivity to swap out plugs from other areas of the world is no longer a standard thing. I know Apple is going for the most minimal product and trying to keep prices as low as possible by using fewer materials, but as a person who travels frequently, this missing interchangeability is sorely missed. If you have a small old USB power adaptor, hold on to it! The old style with regional plugs can be bought all together in the new World Travel Adaptor Kit, but I think it's a little manipulative to force customers to buy it. So in summary, nice simple product that works, but not very flexible.

This came with my new iPhone, however it only worked once in a while. The first night using it I thought it was charging my phone it actually depleated my phones battery. I went a purchased a new wall charger and it works great.

I really like how small this charger is compared to older ones or 3rd party ones, but now I'm unable to use it. The thing broke and won't even power a laptop cooling pad let along charge my iPod/Zune anymore. Really hope Apple gets this thing sorted out and is able to keep the compact size of it. I loved my MBP and I even still have an old G3 Lombard that I use, just wish things were still built as well today. Not to mention that it is overpriced, I could maybe handle $20 tops but I would expect it to last longer then the maybe month that I had it.

Inconsistent Charger

This came with my Iphone and I expected better from Apple. The product is not consistent. It works in certain outlets and doesn't work in in others. Basically I have to walk around the house plugging and unplugging this thing until it works.
You'd be better off getting a traveling charger from Amazon for the Iphone. I have one of those and it works perfectly all the time. However, this item doesn't live up to the Apple brand name. My 2 cents...do NOT buy.14 of 17 people found this useful

I got this adapter with my new Iphone and after using it 2x, it will no longer charge my phone. If this product is so unreliable, the cost of $29 for constant replacements is very expensive, esp since this is the only AC adapter available for the phone

I find it very frustating when I need to charge my phone and it takes at least a 1/2hr to 45 mins searching
which outlet it wants to work with. When I connect the adapter to an AC outlet, the phone does not charge.
I have to move around the adapter many times before I am able to find the right position to charge the phone.22 of 32 people found this useful

Seem to be having major issues getting this to work. It is very tempramental - doesn't work in certain sockets and then works in others. Don't like it at all.

Just received two brand new I-Phones 3GS for my wife and me. Have not found out how the chargers work yet. Sometimes they charge, sometimes they don't. You have to unplug and re-plug them several times from the power outlet before they start working, and they do that on all power outlets in the house.

I got this adapter with my iphone. But it doesn't work properly, I have to wiggle it to get a good connection. I just got my phone less than 4 days ago and I have had to stop at Apple store 3 times to get accessories replaced. This disappointed me about quality control of Apple products. I have been a big fan of Ipod products. I hope that QC department will improve their processes.

The charger that came with the iphone 3gs takes multiple tries before it actually charges the phone. There is a problem with it.

I cant believe no one else has this problem. It takes multiple attempts at get this to work with the Iphone 3gs it came with. Had same problem with original Iphone and its origanal charger. You have to plug the iphone, and charger together, plug into wall but it wont sync or start charging. so you gotta take out of wall and replug in. sometimes it takes 15 to 20 attemps. I usually just give up and go plug into comp. has same problem at multiple locations and outlets. to many attempts at plugging into a wall. I mean it should not be this hard.

Okay I needed to buy this for a long trip. It was small and compact. I sort of like the product but it charges slower then when you hook it up to your PC or Mac. When I saw 30$, i thought it was a lot of money. But I really needed it. My favorite part is that is small. It doesn't take much backpack room.

Although compact it is poorly designed compared to the earlier version which has retractable prongs. In one trip the prongs punctured two plastic food bags in my luggage. Silly design if not an oversight.

I received one of these in with my iPhone 3g package. It is very small and compact. It fits well on a power bar in between other plugs i.e. its not big and bulky and therefore doesn't take the space of 2 or 3 outlets on the bar due to its size. Having said that for what it is it is stupidly over priced. I would not own one of these had it not been included with the iPhone.

Sure it's nice and small, but the USB power adapter supplied with my iPhone doesn't work. The USB cable charges and syncs my phone when connected directly to the computer, but won't charge when connected to a wall socket using the adapter.

Yes, it is small (read: "cool," easy to lose), and it does what it is supposed to do. But do they really have to price this at $30 American dollars when it probably costs 30 pesos to make?
