    Unreliable

Written by SL from West Orange

    Dec 12, 2009

I agree with most of the reviews here. This adapter is very unreliable. I have to plug it in and out of my outlet several times before it works. I was wondering if I just wound up with a faulty adapter but after reading this review I see that it's just an unreliable product. For Apple I'm pretty disappointed.

    Not Great

    Written by HS from Jenkins

I definitely just bought my iPhone last week and the USB Power Adapter hasn't worked since day one. Luckily I have my bulky, outdated USB Power Adapter from my old iPod Classic. Without, I would be unable to charge my new phone. You really dropped the ball Apple.

I bought a new 3Gs two weeks ago. The included charger did not work. I have now made two trips back to the ATT store and still do not have a working charger. I thought maybe I was going crazy until I read many of these reviews. At least I know I'm still sane. BUT I'm really mad because I STILL don't have a working charger--shame on you, Apple!!

    USB POWER ADAPTORS ARE GARBAGE

    Written by BA from Dartmouth

    Nov 27, 2009

I bought two iphones in August. In both cases these adaptors have simply stopped working. Believe me, I take insanely great care of my apple equipment. I still have a perfectly running Wallstreet laptop! Anyway, these adaptors are poorly made, and a rip-off at $35.00. Shame on you Apple.

    Uncompible with 3GS?

    Written by JC from Belleville

    Nov 22, 2009

After being charged a couple of minutes, my 3GS always pops up "Charge not unsupported with this accessory", and 3GS stops charge. Reconnect 3GS with it, it starts charge, but repeats this message and stops again in a while. 3GS can only gets 4~5% charge every time. My 3GS is running 3.1.2 firmware.

    Not reliable, I regret.

The adapter that came with my iphone rarely works. I was unable to use my iphone for four days while on holiday. I thought that the phone died. Upon my return home, the phone charged up using only the direct the USB to my desktop. I love the phone, but the power adapter needs work. Quite disappointing considering I bought the phone to use on my vacation :(

    Intermittent at best

Got one with my 3gs. Seems to randomly decide whether or not it's going to charge the phone.

The same USB cables work fine when plugged into the PC.

Perhaps there is some sequence you must follow?

Company I work for switched to i phones for a company phone. Phones are great but more than half of the chargers we got you have to mess with for ten to twenty mins before you can get them to charge. Charges right away with a computer.

    does not charge

    Written by MM from ATLANTA

    Jul 21, 2009

My adaptor doesn't always accept a charge when I plug it in. When I use the USB (without it) with the computer and I have no problem. I've tested it on multiple wall jacks and used it with multiple USB adaptors but I always get the same result. Sometimes it takes 8-10 tries before I can pick up the charge or before I give up. Because it came with the phone, I can't return it. Any advice?

    New, ultra compact design

    Written by SB from Milwaukee

    Mar 10, 2009

Yes, it is ultra compact. I have two of the A1205 W005B050 adapters (the non-ultra compact? previous model). They used the same plugs/cords as the chargers for the laptops, so you could add a cord, or add a plug only (with the prongs foldable). This "new" design is much inferior to the old one, with not much space saved (the prongs are permanently out).

I bought this charger and it died the same day. Terribly disappointing for an Apple product, and one that costs $30 at that.

blew out 2 IPODS with charger

    Written by MG from Indialantic

All i know is that as soon as I charged my ipod classic with the wall charger it will no longer take a charge and boot up. I sent back my ipod and got a replacement and it did the same thing with the replacement after using charger. Conclusion. Will not use this charger again.

    safety concern

    Written by CS

    Dec 30, 2008

This device is compact but the one that came with my iphone would only charge the phone SOMETIMES! Then it would become VERY HOT, even to the touch!! I was afraid that it would cause a fire or something. I took it back to ATT and they replaced it with another, which works fine. I love the size, but I think it could have been a bit more durable.

It was great when it worked but it just stopped working. Now I have to either pony-up another $30 or always charge through my computer.

but when it worked it was great.

    no international plug support

Written by DO from South Pasadena

    Jul 22, 2008

This plug is quite well designed as is, and works. Sure, it's a bit pricey, but hey. The much-bigger issues is the lack of international plug support. I would assume, being made introduced with, and shipped with iPhone 3G, a good amount of people will have to bring their phone outside the US. For that, you need the $29 USB charger - which is a much better value; it's almost as light, only slightly bigger, and it can take all international plugs Apple sells in a kit. This one, in my opinion, for people traveling, is pretty useless.
