    Excellent for my ipod classic

    Written by MR from Yonkers

I purchased this charge at my local apple store and I am very impressed with it. It charges fast (faster than the other one apple sells) and easy to pack up for trips, getaways, etc. I would recommend this charger for anybody who uses their on a daily basis or need a quick charge.

    great adapter

This is so compact and easy to travel with. The workmanship is outstanding and as silly as it sounds, it is fun to hold. It's Apple's attention to detail that continues to propel them to the front of the line. While most companies could care less about something as simple as an adapter, Apple puts thought into it - they leave no detail to chance. This is why Apple is the premier consumer electronics company.

This is a really great product, it not only can charge my itouch but it can also charge my digital camera! I also some times use it to connect other things that can be charged with a usb cable, and when I don't feel like turning on my computer I use the usb power adapter to connect my usb powered speakers, and then connect it to my ipod.

Nice adapter, but cord too short

    Written by LH from Haverhill

    Sep 24, 2008

Yes, the charger is small and it fits and stays in the wall socket better than the earlier iPod chargers, but the earlier chargers had an extension cord that could be put on the end of the shorter cord, like the MacBook computer chargers. I play computer games and watch movies and TV shows in bed as an end-of-the day activity. The iPhone battery isn't enough to last for 2-3 hours of video. The short USB cord won't reach the floor electrical outlet. So I sit with a power adapter or extension cord in my bed! Not cool.

    Coolest little thing I've seen

Written by RB from North Kingstown

(Next to my little toe, of course)

Small, light, functional, what more could you ask?

I was going to give it 5 stars out of 5 because I thought it was cool how the prongs detached, making it easier to carry. Then I found out they were recalling them to make sure the prongs stay attached to the charger. Oh well!

    AMAZING

    Written by JC from Hughesville

    Sep 17, 2008

Just got mine and it works perfectly. Smaller is better.

And it comes with a new USB/Computer to iPod/iPhone cable though my old cable (iPod 4th Video) worked just fine.

Here are the specs since Apple is still trying to be a minimalist museum rather than a website:

    Designed by Apple in California
Model Number A1265 Made in China
    Input: 100-240V ~ 50/60 Hz 10A
    Output 5V- 1A
    UL tested

What all this means is you CAN use it in Europe, Japan, anywhere as long as you get the right outlet adapter !

This device replaces the old iPod wall outlet charger that was bulkier and had the folding prongs attachment. This is so small I didn't recognize it. This is all you need to charge up your iPod or iPhone with the USB cable. Amazing!

    PRICE IS GOOD!!!!!

Written by DS from East Meadow

    Sep 14, 2008

I see some people are writing that it's too much money. But if you look you will see that it also comes with the USB cable which is a $19 dollar value. Stop complaining. I give it 5 stars. If you want to use it over seas then this isn't the product for you. Get the original USB power adapter you can go to iPhone accessories > then POWER to see the old one for the same price.

    absolutely amazing, go apple!

Written by GS from Federal Way

As I believe I understand the purpose of such an adapter (to convert AC to DC). (but i'll leave room just incase I'm wrong...) It is amazing to see an ac to dc conversion so small. Just think about all the other adapters you have in your home, they're all doing the exact same conversion, yet they have to be rather large... not only that... but this converter doesn't seem to heat up like the big ones.
Makes me want to take it apart and find out what is inside... but then i wouldn't have an extra mobile charger for my iphone anymore.
I guess it could be done using some easy method i'm just not thinking of, but it seems pretty amazing to me anyway.

The new adapter is a godsend to a power strip user like myself. No longer must I deal with having ANOTHER large power adapter attached to the strip, now I have a power adapter for all of my USB accessories! I not only use this for my iPhone, but to charge my video game controllers (PS3/360) and even my girlfriend's phone. The best part is it only gets hot after 12 or so hours of use, and you're not even supposed to charge a battery for that long anyway!

    Compatibility information incomplete

    Written by DL from Washington

    Sep 9, 2008

I have two of these, one purchased with an iPhone 3G, one purchased separately. They work fine and their small size is wonderful.

I write this review because the compatibility information on the product page is incomplete. I have a fourth-generation 60GB iPod and this adapter charges it without a problem. This should also be true for even earlier iPods (and, although I can see why Apple wouldn't want to support them, for other USB-powered portable devices).

i love the compactness of the device.with its input ranging from 100v - 240v and 50 - 60 hz you can use it anywhere in the world outside the USA all you need is an adapter plug to fit the style of plug used in the country you are travelling in.APC has one that i like best since it is also very compact and works truly worldwide.

    Great Product!

    Written by DV from Cincinnati

I see a lot of reviewers complaining about having to spend $30 dollars on this product. I personally think that this is a great price. Not only do you get the smallest, coolest charger possible, you also get another USB to iPod cable which normally costs $19. So in fact, you are actually only paying $10 for this charger! Does that make it a little easier for you to swallow now? I am absolutely certain that Apple is charging more than it costs to make this product, but doesn't every company do that?

If you really want to see things that are overpriced, walk into your local Best Buy, and look at how expensive USB cables are. For a 6' cable, they charge $26 dollars while it only costs $3 to make. And they don't even have to design the cable, let alone squeeze enough electronics into such a small device to convert your 120V AC to 5V DC. I don't know of any other company making converters so small.

To actually review this product... This is great for anyone who travels. It takes virtually no space and works just as expected. Surprisingly, this charger doesn't even get hot!

    Great Product....

    Written by JF from Alamo

    Aug 25, 2008

NOTE: Stop complaining about the price/cost and how inexpensive this gizmo is to make. It IS inexpensive to make, no question - but that ISN'T where the cost resides. The cost resides in the (likely) hundreds upon hundreds of hours a team of engineers spent trying to make the smallest and coolest looking charger possible.... and guess what, they did. If this were huge, heavy and "expensive feeling" you'd have no problem paying $30. Just because it's incredibly small/light - doesn't mean it costs less money to make (total cost) than a large charger. ALL plug in phone chargers are a rip off, and for them OEM brand are a similar (sometimes greater) cost. I'd rather pay the same $ for a much smaller product. This gizmo tells you "Hey... we thought about and sweated over EVERY single little detail possible on this product."

This is an incredibly neat little gizmo.... it's about the size of the rubber portion of a three pronged plug, so it's super compact, doesn't take up multiple slots on your power strip and is great for travel. What more could you reasonably want?
