WOW! i just bought my airport express hotness at the apple store in cincinnati (best apple store in the world! - JD in the back is the MAN!). i hooked it up to my existing airport extreme network, and it was set up and connected in about 37 seconds. this thing rocks! i have my samsung laser printer hooked up to and my bose computer speakers connected in my room, and this thing works like a charm! go get one - you can use it as a charger for your iPod or iPhone too! the fact that they didn't raise the price makes it an even better deal. this thing is genius...

I've been an apple user w/airport express driving our i-mac and macbook and printer for the last ten months. Before that 8 yrs or so we where pc users with towers and hard wires. Two things we will never go back to ; pc's and hard wire. Never going back ! I know about never.....never willingly going back !!!!
set up is easy and operation is transparent .

    Sweet and Solid

It took me less than five minutes to plug in and set up. I found AE well documented in (a rare experience) clear language. I use it at home to extend my existing wireless Airport Extreme network and take it with me when traveling. I don't stream music and have not tried any additional features it offers.

It just works, is ultra-portable and looks, well, what an Apple product should look like.

    Great after setup nightmare

    Written by BB from Edmond

    Mar 28, 2008

It took me about two hours to get this set up and I know what I'm doing. Too bad Apple doesn't document the installation and operation a little better. I have an Airport Extreme base station and a couple of the older Airport Expresses, and all I'm trying to do is extend my network. After several hard resets and setup do-overs, I finally ended up telling the Airport Utility that I was replacing one of my existing Airport Expresses and then everything fell into place.
Now that the setup is behind me the thing is working great. It's fast and it has stayed up and running without a hitch.

    AirPerfect: Speed and Perfection

    Written by DJ from Star

    Mar 20, 2008

If you love music this is a must! A recent move necessitated a new wireless router and being an iTunes addict I new this was the product to have. I scooped it up as soon as it was available. Every aspect of this device works as advertised. I did all the initial setup and installation from my Book Pro with no problems. AirTunes works easily and the music synchronizes perfectly playing on my home stereo and external speakers (connected to the laptop) filling my house with iTunes with no sound difference from room to room. the wireless printer is perfect and easy to setup. I had minor difficulties getting my wife's PC laptop to find and connect, after I did Windows updates and restarted the computer 3 times it worked. I have "n" wireless on my laptop and the speed is outstanding. It seems as fast as a hardline ethernet connection from the other side of the house. Well conceived, well designed, and well worth the purchase price.

I just bought this about a month or two ago and it is a good product. You can take it with you on the road and stream music to it. Pros: WiFi, Airtunes. Cons: A bit Pricey.
    That's That!

P.S. You CANNOT use USB speakers with it. Only ones with #=3.5 mm audio outputs.

    one is not enough!

    Written by GC from Mead

    Jun 12, 2009

seriously, we use 3 in the house for remote speakers, a printer and just to extend the range / power of our Extreme Base Station.

but the Airport Express really comes into it's own on the road! i travel extensively around the world, 2 more are in my suitcase. one to my desk at the client's office into WiFi hot-spots (esp when there are several of us using one desk in a remote office). the other makes every a hotel room a private WiFi for my MacBook and iPhone.

it's a no brainer to set up ~ in any environment, with or w/o security ... and without needing to call IT. i don't even have to worry about different voltages around the world.

It extends the range of my internet so I have a perfect signal not only near the office and living room, but the master bedroom as well. I plugged it into my bathroom, then plugged my Bose into the AirPort Express. I have all my music available to me when I'm getting ready!!! I LOVE THIS PRODUCT!

Great When Travelling and Trumps Poor Hotel Wireless

Written by RH from Woodland Hills

    Dec 18, 2008

First, this device works EVERY time, and is foolproof!
Where it shines for me is, so many Hotels have slow wireless connections because of too much traffic using a single hub.
If the hotel offers a wired connection in the room, I plug my Airport Express into that and my wife and I enjoy much, much faster wireless connectivity. At a hotel in Vail, Colorado, my daughters ten rooms down the hall were also able to use my Airport Express for faster connectivity.
I've been using mine for over three years.

A dream come true for home wifi and the travelling business man

Written by YA from Saint Laurent

I've bought many wireless routers, both for home and the office, and they were always problematic. Slowdowns, dropped connections, they also required constant trouble shooting and rebooting. Well that's all over now, I had this baby up and running in 5 minutes and connected 2 iPhones, 1 PC laptop, 1 Macbook, 1 iMac, and a Nokia internet tablet sharing a canon printer. This thing never misses a beat. Buy it and forget it, because it always works, always! On the road it's easy to carry in my laptop bag, I connect it to the hotel wired internet and presto, we're in business. Buy it!

great at home super easy on the road

    Written by DC from Langley

I use an airport express and a time capsule at home. I set up the express to connect through the ethernet cables in my walls to the airport express.

The express has the nice perk of connectivity with airtunes. Unfortunately airtunes only works with iTunes so if you're watching a DVD on your computer, don't expect it to stream audio to your airport express speakers. But if you're watching a movie through iTunes, you can use those speakers. airtunes is a specific feature associated with iTunes only.

I decided to bring my airport express last time I was traveling since hotel wireless is often ridiculously slow because it is over-used, but the wired networks are generally super fast. I plugged in the airport express and it was already set up with my preferences from home. In a few seconds without adjusting any settings or fiddling around, I had my own private wireless internet. Since my computer and ipod touch connect automatically at home, they also connected automatically when using the airport express in the hotel. I have since used my airport express at a friends house by plugging it into their router so that I could get much faster and wider wireless internet coverage. After setting it up once at home, doing so out of my house is as easy as plugging it in and waiting about 30 seconds.

The airport express is about the size of the power adapter for a macbook. It comes with the same plug interface as the macbook power adapter so you could use your macbook power cord extension on the airport express if your ethernet cable is too short.

I love the airport express, but when connecting a usb hard drive it becomes an ugly tangle of wires and a space hog. I much prefer the time capsule as an all in one solution.

The airport express will revert to the speed of the slowest thing connected to it, so an ipod touch (wireless g) will slow the internet for a macbook (wireless n).

Worked great on a recent trip overseas

Written by WT from San Diego

Took the Express with me on a business trip to Italy and used it to provide wireless connectivity for the whole team at our hotel while we were there. We had wired Internet, but there was no wireless... until I plugged in the Express! Rome is notorious for a lack of public Wi-fi, so it was always nice to return to the hotel to connect quickly with my iPhone and download email, upload photos, etc., while still in Airplane mode the whole week we were there (stayed in Airplane mode to avoid the outrageous overseas wireless connection rates, but still turned on just Wi-fi for quick shots of Internet connectivity, podcasts downloads, music downloads, etc. The Express was perfect for this, and everyone on the trip decided to buy one after seeing it work so well. :-)

    Works

It works fine. There is only one software glitch. Make sure you give it a name BEFORE you start using iTunes. Otherwise, if you rename the unit, iTunes will still see the Airport speakers under the old name... I have this issue in Vista. Otherwise, I very much love it for now. The internet connection is smooth. I used to have a relatively new Belkin router which was "stuttering".

    Great For Travel

    Written by RD from Miami

If you stay in a hotel that only has hard-wired internet then this device offers a simply way to make it wireless in your room.

At home I have mine setup to my HP laser printer and it works flawlessly with two mac laptops and a pc. I don't remember how I did it, but I even set up the wireless network in such a way that the Airport Express connect to the Airport Extreme base station to get online but both express and base show up as one wifi connection.

This means that I can print AND surf simultaneously without having to switch between the two wireless connections. With previous setups I had to connect to one device to print and then switch to the other one when I wanted to do anything online. Now not anymore!

This is definitely one of Apple's better product lines

When they say "easy install", they are not kidding!

While I'm not "tech ignorant", I'm not really "tech saavy" either-this took me 10 minutes to set up. That's it. The install disk walks you through each phase of the setup. You can set up your own network and password protect it. It's really amazing.

It is so easy to use-I'm WiFi in less than a minute of turning on my Mac.

Thank you Apple for making this so user-friendly. I am an Apple fan for life!

I made the move to Mac about a year ago and I've never looked back. I love all of my Apple stuff and now you've rocked my world once more with AirPort Express!

My main reason for purchase was to play my iTunes music through my home stereo (which works beautifully by the way), but the big bonus is also being able to play iTunes Radio through my home stereo (totally worth while now), AND... as if that weren't enough... now I have a wireless printer too! Works like a charm and setup was relatively painless. Too Cool! Thanks Apple... you've done it again!
