i bought this about a month ago, double thumbs up, its range is amazing. im still in the process of converting to macs so i have pc's with xp. it took me forever to understand how to connect my printer and internet properly because the directions weren't specific enough. if you're using a pc, i highly recommend uninstalling and reinstalling bonjour once you are connected to the internet. the cd did not install the bonjour printer wizard i needed to connect my printer

Amazing!

This is an AMAZING piece of hardware. My WiFi network was never able to reach into my bedroom, where my iMac was. I got the AirPort express to extend the network. 2 minutes of setup and it was working great! I already have an AirPort extreme, but the express is amazing for extending the network, FINALLY letting my PS2 connect to the internet (I never had a long enough ethernet cord) and for AirTunes. I can't wait to try it out. This is also going to come in handy on my summer vacation, as the hotel has ethernet, but not WiFi. This will fix that problem. :D

brought this device today, setup was less than five minutes including opening the box. Set it to join my network which is using a Linksys Router. This thing is incredible. I'm listening to my itunes over my stereo which is located upstairs and it's all wireless. Apple is the truth!!!

Awesome once I figured it out

This product is amazing! I had trouble at first but digging in to the install and figuring out what I needed helped me to see what everyone else was so excited about. When I first set this up, mind you it was not as easy as all had claimed, I had issues with my Airport Utility configuring the Base because it said I had an invalid IP address. I was still getting a signal and was on the internet but the base was flashing amber. My Iphone was also not connecting with Itunes as a remote (with your Remote app). Once I followed the advise of my Utility to go to apple/support, I found that my Airport Utility was in dire need of an upgrade. I wouldn't know this unless I had a need for it. So, I downloaded the upgrade and ran the diagnostic and it said you need to do a hard reboot on your modem which I did and it worked! It said I solved the problem and ever since then my wireless network works like a charm! Even my Iphone connected to my Itunes in a nano-second. Wow, what a product! Maybe a little more help in the instruction manual would have made the install faster for me.

I have two airport express, one that I bought and another that I received as a gift. They are just a great piece of hardware. One airport express is used just to stream music to a portable device via AirTunes (analog) and the another one I used to stream music too but digital (toslink) to my AV receiver and give network access to my media player. Highly recommended.

Bought the Airport Express on September 2008. Since I always read and appreciate good reviews. I Decided to use it for a while before I put in my 2 Cents. From my experience the veredict is... Airport express is by FAR the BEST product in it's category !!!! I have two laptops ( one mac and a PC), a printer and my home theater system all hooked up to it and never had a problem. I definitely recomend it !!!
P.S. You guys should REALLY add Airtunes to all your other related products. It's the coolest feature...25 of 28 people found this useful

I have taken this device all over the U.S. and have not had one issue with connectivity. I couldn't explain how excited I am about the ease of use. I often use the express to join other networks so that I can keep my printer attached and print wirelessly. Cool tool and mac software makes it easy.

Apple's Error #3256 Will Drive You Crazy
Written by DJ from Sedona
Apr 19, 2009
When this thing works, it rocks. It is SO COOL to have it on your hi-fi and to be able to control tunes with your iPhone or your computer. And yet, Apple is plagued with a problem called "Error -3256" that people are experiencing all over the Internet, and which Apple has barely acknowledged. They have a firmware update that was supposed to fix it, but it doesn't work. So, you're listening to music with friends and suddenly the music starts cutting out every 30 seconds. I've spent hours trying to de-bug it and have no idea what could be wrong at this point. Good luck -- this is for ONLY the very technically talented who are able to diagnose and fix problems with no help from the manufacturer.

Fast running and easy to install
Written by AP from College Station

I bought this to replace our old wireless router about 2 months ago. So far I have no complaints at all. It has delivered everything we wanted from it. It was super easy to install. We now run our printer through it for a wireless home printer. Security was easy to set up, unlike other wireless routers I've had. Our laptop now runs a lot faster on the internet because the AirPort Express is so fast. It's also got great range. We have a 2000sqft house, it's at one end, and I have a full signal in the garage at the other end of the house. Like I said, not one complaint, a great product.

Worked great on a recent trip overseas
Written by WT from San Diego

Took the Express with me on a business trip to Italy and used it to provide wireless connectivity for the whole team at our hotel while we were there. We had wired Internet, but there was no wireless... until I plugged in the Express! Rome is notorious for a lack of public Wi-fi, so it was always nice to return to the hotel to connect quickly with my iPhone and download email, upload photos, etc., while still in Airplane mode the whole week we were there (stayed in Airplane mode to avoid the outrageous overseas wireless connection rates, but still turned on just Wi-fi for quick shots of Internet connectivity, podcasts downloads, music downloads, etc. The Express was perfect for this, and everyone on the trip decided to buy one after seeing it work so well. :-)

Works

It works fine. There is only one software glitch. Make sure you give it a name BEFORE you start using iTunes. Otherwise, if you rename the unit, iTunes will still see the Airport speakers under the old name... I have this issue in Vista. Otherwise, I very much love it for now. The internet connection is smooth. I used to have a relatively new Belkin router which was "stuttering".

EXCELLENT!

This wireless router is excellent!
I recently made the switch from PC to Mac, and I was then, as I am now, a wireless laptop user - I'm running a small, portable broadband modem, and an all-in-one printer, through my AirPort Express Base Station. I'm no longer required to do weekly or monthly unit resets, relocate units, or contend with network time outs or slow transfer speeds, that were common with other routers I've used. Also, I absolutely LOVE the compact size, tiny footprint, and portability of this item. The only thing I would change is the ability to use my scanner wirelessly through the AirPort Express Base Station, but that is a shortfall of printer manufacturers, not Apple.
This is the BEST wireless router I've ever had.34 of 36 people found this useful

It took less than 5 minutes to get this up and running (and that was including two phone interruptions). The utility automatically recognized my security and password information and I was streaming iTunes to the Bose Waveradio in the kitchen in no time. And I'm not even using the Apple wireless router.

Not bad for the price but, too much resetting!!!
Written by AJ from Brooklyn

The Express is really portable and inexpensive(especially for apple). I only used it for wireless internet usage so I can not comment on the AirTunes feature. The device works great, when its working. I thought the problem was with my internet provider but, it was the Express. I constantly had to reset the device. Almost three times a day. I really like the quick setup and when it's working, I loved it. I just upgraded to the Extreme and no more problems.

I have an Apple Extreme and two Airport Express. I use the Airport Express for music and extended range on my network. I have one located in my living room which is connected to my 7.1 built in surround sound and the other for my speaker system which is also on a 7.1 located outside. Installation was a breeze and the sound quality is great. Although once in a great while the music will sometimes replicate a CD skip, but other than that its awesome. I operate the entire system which is 14 speaker/ 1 sub through my iphone, which is super cool. I love having control of my audio in the palm of my hand.

Awesome for Travel
Written by JF from Bloomington
Apr 2, 2009
I purchased the Express for travel. I have now used it in 3 different hotels to set up wireless access from the basic ethernet cable in the room. Once the express was set up, it has worked flawlessly. There are two bits of information that are essential to know to make the Express work properly while on the road, and it's not totally obvious for the first time user. First, the Express must be set to Bridge Mode, not Share a single IP address using DHCP and NAT. The first time I plugged it in, the yellow light was on, and after a minute or two Airport Utility launched and asked if I would like to change the setting. I did, and the green light came on after the Express reset, and all worked fine. This concept wasn't totally obvious to me, and I'm not an Apple neophyte. Second, in a hotel, you may have to use your browser to log into their network, and update every one to 3 days. This may or may not work wirelessly, and you may have to connect wired to log in, then switch to wireless. Once set up, it is plug and connect!
