Any product truly trying to do 802.11n should have gigabit connection to the server.

    Nearly Perfect

Written by JP from Fort Wayne

I've had my Airport Express for over 5 years, and it might be the best electronics accessory I've ever had. Over the years, my family (during high school), my roommates (during college), and my wife (now) have all had seamless access to wireless internet, surround sound, and printer through this little device. It's great!

    WOW!

    Written by MS from ROBBINSVILLE

Bought this to run my music wirelessly upstairs and it is SWEET! Took maybe 5 minutes from the time the ups guy dropped the box off til I was listening to music in my kitchen (my computer is in the basement). I use the remote app on my iphone to control my stereo and now I have my entire itunes library in my kitchen. Great product.

    Linksys should be ashamed

    Written by JC from Stockton

    Nov 4, 2009

Just got my AirPort Express and it is beautifully simple to set up and elegantly designed. AirTunes was the main reason for my purchase, but after seeing it I wrapped up my Linksys router and stuffed into the drawer with all the other 90's technology.

    quality-sound:medium;install:excellent;usage:excellent

    Written by ET from Amsterdam

    Nov 3, 2009

The product was installed in 10 minutes. (*)
    The iTunes integration is perfect
The sound is medium-poor quality; can be improved by using the equalizer of iTunes instead of the adjusting knobs of the amplifier.
The design is as usual - perfect.

(*) I used a different setup by connecting the airport with an existing WIFI network by means of a wire instead of wireless. In this way the network is used more efficiently.

Small, nice design but BAD streaming!

Written by RD from Rio de janeiro

    Nov 1, 2009

Bought this wanting to use it with living room stereo.
But the streaming cuts VERY often. Specially if I'm using the internet.
So it doesn't do what it is supposed to do well enough.
But, i must admit that i only started to have problems after itunes 9.0...
    don't know why.

    Efficiency

    Written by RC from CHICAGO

    Nov 1, 2009

It's a great integration piece for the speakers, phone and iPod touch.
Efficient with the use of the speakers printer and MacBook. Just think: No Wires!
and even when I have guests they can use their iPod touch at my place. Very much recommended.

    So-So Airstreaming

Written by LP from New York

    Oct 31, 2009

I've had this product for about 6 months now. Overall it's pretty good- extremely easy to set up and as a router, never had a problem. Airstreaming (wireless streaming itunes), however, doesn't work very well. It seems to lose the signal quite frequently and for prolonged periods. A one hour podcast typically starts cutting out at the 25 min mark, fading in and out 4-5 times for several minutes at a pop before I switch back to the laptop speakers. It's frustrating and upsetting since I bought the Express specifically for this capability.

If you are buying this product for Airstreaming, buy plug-in speakers instead.

I really enjoy the thought Apple puts into their products. This little product does everything they
say it will without error of 'bugs' Apple's new slogon should be 'It just works'. Not a single
problem with this device. Very easy to setup and it just works (no asprin required)

Equally as bad as the "extreme"

    Written by KL from Boston

    Oct 29, 2009

Well, after returning the Extreme Base Station because it was totally unreliable, I foolishly "settled" for this model. It has proved equally as bad as the extreme. Your computer will rarely, if ever, detect that this unit is out there (even if it's plugged in directly next to the computer). Don't waste your money. As much as I don't like other operating systems, I'm reluctant to trust Apple.

Good out of the box... not so great after that.

    Written by MC from Waterloo

    Oct 28, 2009

Purchased 2 years ago. Died within a year. Was replaced on warranty. Died again within a year. No longer under warranty (Warranty on replacements is only 90 days).

Main problem - doesn't hold an IP address. (strange, but true)

Only one ethernet connection (What if you have an Xbox? Or other device that needs ethernet?)

    Sound quality is horrible.

Only Apple product that I have come to regret buying.

    airport express man oh man

    Written by SO from TACOMA

After working with a linksys for years, this is another big star on the GLAD I SWITCHED TO MAC list. The switch to this new router took ten minutes, including setting a high security level. Oh, the printer would not automatically work.... that took less than ten minutes to fix. I get a stronger signal, no startup and recognition delays after having things turned off overnight, and protection from the neighbors (I got a warning after someone downloaded a new movie using our connection). Best hundred bucks I have spent on computer stuff in a long time.

Great but not so great when playing itunes

    Written by AR from Sarnia

    Oct 27, 2009

This product is great, easy to hide not pricy and the overall wireless functions works to perfection, but sometimes when I play my itunes from my macbook threw my stereo it will stop playing, then start, then stop again, and its not because of my stereo system because it is of higher end, a little weird but overall it a great product.

I Don't Understand What This Is Used For!!

    Written by LB from Asheville

    Oct 25, 2009

My dad got this as a gift for me on my birthday because I told him I wanted WiFi. He knew I was a HUGE Apple fanatic, so this was the obvious choice in our price range. While trying to set it up, I was confused over the fact that it only had one ethernet port, meaning that once I plugged it into my ethernet port on the wall, there was no way to plug it into the computer. If you had to make the choice go with a much less expensive brand (I suggest DLink or Linksys; or if you are willing to spend the money Airport Extreme) They offer the same results and cost 50 dollars less. I ended up taking the Airport Express back and getting a much less expensive WiFi router with four ethernet ports. Setting it up took five minutes, too. I usually don't say this about Apple products, but I am really disappointed with what they made here.

    Sweet Wireless Music Stream

    Written by NB from Marion

    Oct 23, 2009

Purchased my AirPort Express to use with the AirTunes wireless audio feature about 6 months ago. Is a great purchase for streaming music to your home audio system, is compact and is easy to hide. I gave it four stars because my house is a mix of PCs and macs and it did take me a little time to get the firmware set up and I did have to call Apple for help, but they were wicked helpful like they always are. Although, they are hesitant sometimes to give you advice on fixing bugs with Apple products when you are using it with a PC, even though you know these kids know how to fix the problem. The other reason for the 4 stars is because I think you should be able to stream audio to this device straight from your Iphone. I mean, how fat would that be? The ability exists for the Iphone to do this they just need to build it into the software, but why haven't you yet Apple? Buy Apple stock.

    A GREAT BUY !

    Written by MH from Burbank

Hooked it up last night. Very easy to set up. Covers 100% of a 2 story house AND 3 acre home. I can walk 300 feet from the source and it works great! Very fast. Got rid of my 2Wire ATT that kept dropping a connection every 10 minutes. This ZERO dropped connections! Now I can surf and not have to worry about resetting the modem and wireless. Hooked up to 3 Mac Book Pro Laptops.
    VERY HAPPY!!!

    Many Many Uses

    Written by CH from Mansfield

    Oct 22, 2009

I have a few of these and take one with me when traveling. Uses include:

    1. Wireless connection of Itunes to any receiver. This is my favorite use of the product. Not easy to find in the instructions is the mention of its optical output along with the analog output.

    2. Portable wireless network for secure connection anywhere. Great in hotels that have ethernet.

    3. Extend any wireless network.

    4. Make any printer a wireless one.

The only problem with these is that they are VERY easy to lose or leave behind. Many of the ethernet connections in hotels are under desks or behind furniture where they will need to be plugged in. When they are hidden, its very easy to leave them.
