    Networking Made Easy

    Written by JH from Austin

I have a pc set up in a different room from my iMac and wireless router, and needed and easy way to link the pc and a usb printer to my network. The AirPort Express couldn't have been easier to set up! After about 15 minutes, the pc is up and running on the 'net. Thanks Apple for continually making life easy for your customers!

    Dropout City

Written by SH from Salt Lake City

Horrible from the second I plugged it in. It seemed to work well at first, but it will not hold a connection for more than 3 minutes tops. Needs to be constantly rest or you have to wait 5 minutes to find the connection again. I was extremely disappointed, I thought Apple was better than this. Buyer BEWARE!

My old AE lasted almost 5 years

I had the previous version of this product and it finally died during a recent heatwave. Up until then it had been one of my most reliable pieces of apple hardware besides their keyboards. Be careful where you plug it in, as the case isn't designed for cooling (I had mine near the ceiling, I have no air conditioning). Just based on how long my first one lasted, I will pick one of these new ones up. Very nice design and ease of use.

    Become Your Own DJ!!!

    Written by NN from Fenton

    Aug 15, 2009

I purchased the AirPort Express a few days ago for the purpose of streaming music all over my house. I have to say that I am VERY pleased with the results. Not only was it easy to setup but it is also very functional. After a quick download of the Apple Remote app, I am now able to DJ my entire house all from my iPhone by selecting which speakers i want to play my music through. Guests can even voice their opinion and request songs (if they have an iPhone and the Apple Remote app) when playing music from the iTunes DJ playlist!!!

    A Solid Piece of Equipment

    Written by MR from Aurora

    Aug 14, 2009

I've had this little white box for over a year and a half now and it's still working fine. Price aside, there are very few complaints I have making this a solid investment for the wireless network in my single bedroom apartment. Streaming music via itunes and surfing the net is simple to set up and rarely is maintenance required. The only problems I have encountered have been when the summer heat has caused it to seize up. My environment is frequently upwards of 35 C which causes it to stop working, but if you're not living in such a heated climate or if you have the A/C running you need not worry of any problems. I highly recommend this product.

    2 months and TOAST!

Written by LC from Baton Rouge

    Aug 12, 2009

This was a brilliant, useful product to send music to my classic two channel system with big Boston Acoustics window rattlers - living large, I thought! The thing went nuts and then gave up the ghost in two months; I expected better. Given the layout in my 18th century brick house it would be practical if the Airports had music capacity - we have four to cover the house and office and get around heavy brick walls and they're bombproof.
Probably good for dorms and traveling, but for some of us it's an irritating extra C note wasted. Well, two hundred now, had to go buy another one.

Great product and works as advertised

    Written by AC from HOUSTON

I just purchased my second Airport Express so I can stream music all over my home. I use it to extend the range of my Airport Extreme and run everything on 2.4 N-draft mode.

Too bad it doesn't support the 5Ghz mode the Extreme is capable of.

Best thing about it is it also works with my AppleTv so I can stream music from the AppleTv without having any of my laptops on.

I have recommended this product to many of my friends and they have all been happy with the ease of setup and price and performance.

    Oh.My.God.

    Written by DS from Belleville

When they say "easy install", they are not kidding!

While I'm not "tech ignorant", I'm not really "tech saavy" either-this took me 10 minutes to set up. That's it. The install disk walks you through each phase of the setup. You can set up your own network and password protect it. It's really amazing.

It is so easy to use-I'm WiFi in less than a minute of turning on my Mac.

Thank you Apple for making this so user-friendly. I am an Apple fan for life!

I rarely write reviews but I simply have to say that this device is truly innovative and works exactly as advertised. I am using it as an extension of my Linksys wireless network and streaming music to my whole house stereo and the setup could not have been easier. I use my iPhone Remote application to control iTunes streaming from my iMac and the combination of technologies is seamless.

Simple Music Streaming with Airport Express

    Written by TS from Spokane

    Aug 3, 2009

I set this up on a Windows Vista machine as a client to my Linksys router. I had a little problem getting my laptop (But not my desktop)to recognize the base station, but once that was done it couldn't have been any easier to set up the client and music streaming. The airport utility is so easy that even someone who had never set up a network should be able to handle it. I am listening to internet radio through my stereo. It rocks! I may buy an airport extreme base station - best value for the money.

    Still not totally sure

Written by JC from Huntington Beach

    Aug 2, 2009

After reading all of these reviews, I excitedly ran to the apple store and bought my airport express. I need to say that I am a PC user toying with the idea of switching to an imac.

I thought this was going to be really easy, and after about an hour or so I finally got it working. Maybe I just don't speak mac, but I thought mac products were supposed to be really easy?

I am excited about the possibilities of taking my AE on the road with me and using it in those hotels that haven't converted to wireless yet. I was also excited when I read another user review that stated it would serve as a charger as well. (I LOVE multi funciton gadgets). I was disappointed when I plugged in my iPhone and it didn't charge. Maybe the older versions doubled as a charger, but not this one.

Also excited about using this to stream tunes in my house to my stereo. I have an iPod doc on there, but it is such a pain to nav on the TV as I have to use the stereo controls.

I was also thinking about getting the time capsule. But after reading discussions in the support area, I am bummed to learn that you cannot connect xbox or wii to airport. :( So I am re-thinking my purchase there.

I'm going to play with it a bit more and see if it gets any easier. My other router happens to be on the fritz, so I can't even see if the AE will work with streaming music on it. Who knows, I may return it.

    piece of cake

    Written by PO from Foxboro

    Jul 30, 2009

ive never set up any network myself. my dad always did that. this is just as they say. it only takes a few minutes & you'll have wireless network running. the password makes it nice so other people cant steal your connection & slow you down. i havent tested the range but im sure its good. the only problem is that i cant connect to the internet through my ipod touch because of the password i set, but im sure thats an easy fix.

this is a great product if anyones looking for a low priced, easy, wireless connection.

    Great Product, however...

    Written by RR from Pooler

    Jul 28, 2009

The Good: The product worked exactly as advertised. I have enjoyed connecting it to a home stereo and using it wirelessly with my itunes, all controlled by my iPhone.

The Bad: It just died. I've had it for 2 1/2 or so years, and I expected an Apple product (through past experience) to last longer.

I am still ordering another one just because of how nice of a commodity it is however.

So, I restarted my cable modem and voila everything was tip-top :)

It's super fast and has awesome range. AirTunes is pretty cool too, makes me want to go buy some nice speakers so I can really enjoy my music. Also like the USB port for wireless printing, etc.

Amazing Sound Quality, Worth Every Penny

    Written by JM from Chicago

    Jul 24, 2009

I hate reviewing items, but I love reading reviews from people that know how to use the product.

Previously I was playing the music from my iMac via my networked PS3 using HDMI outputs to my Marantz SR6001 (frontstage speakers are Monitor Audio Silver 8i). The PS3 sounded horrible, couldn't stand it, and the control through third party apps was sporadic to say the least. I was ready to sell most of my equipment and start over until I was recommended the Airport Express by a local HiFi shop.

Best money I have spent to date on getting my digital music server setup.

The Airport Express has solved all of my server sound quality problems thanks to the digital optical out that can be used (a mini to toslink optical cable is required for this). The difference is night and day. Sound quality is as expected from a high quality transport, open/ lively/ colorful/ imaging is now exceptional. My CD collection is ripped in apple lossless, but surprisingly my music that has been purchased via the iTunes store sounds quite good.

Initially I was torn between Logeitech's Squeezebox and the Airport Express due to control, but after realizing that I could use Remote via my iPhone, I was sold. Playlist showup, Radio stations are accessible, search albums, artist, etc. Everything available in my iTunes is there. And it just plain works like it is supposed to. No DLNA errors, no timing out errors. Exceptional.

I may consider an external DAC in the future to see what it can add vs the Marantz internal, but at this point I'm not sure I will see the value on my investment as I currently have.

Did I mention how good the sound quality is?
