This is the third "Mighty Mouse" I have tried over the past six months. The scroll button has broken on all three now - two do not scroll down, and one does not scroll up. Obviously there is something wrong.

I love my new Mac, however, the mouse is very frustrating to use. The ball becomes sticky frequently and it only scrolls in one direction. So, I have a cloth close by to clean it. I clean it by putting the mouse upside down and tapping gently the track ball. Then, a few days later it is sticky again!! I can't believe that Apple has not yet created a stand alone pad like it has developed for the laptops.

It is beyond me as to why Apple would create a wired mouse that is unusable to macbook users (unless, of course, you are left-handed.) The cord is so short, and seeing as the usb drive is on the left side, buyers are forced to keep the mouse to the left of their macbooks. This means that we must then spend another $20 upgrading to the wireless version.

I was hoping that Apple's brilliant industrial design would produce a mouse that was insanely great, but what I ended up with was a mouse that was insanely irritating. Between the hard to click "buttons" and the random jerking of the pointer, the Mighty Mouse is just a chore to use. The only thing that I really liked was the micro-sized scroll wheel, but it's so tiny that it just doesn't feel right. As much as I hate to say this, I'm going back to my $10 cheapo LED mouse. It might be ugly, but it works.

If it wasn't for the cord, I would I thrown this device out of my city flat window and down to the busy traffic below, many times by now! Yeah Apple make great computers, great software, I had a Powerbook that lasted for years, but this mouse is useless. It works wonderfully for the first three weeks, then the scroll wheel picks up some dirt and it's useless. I have figured out how to crack the case and clean the insides, but this is a mission and a total waste of my time. And now it seems to jump onto the dashboard whenever it feels like it! Buy this and you'll be coming back to get it replaced in about 6 months (if that).

I thought it was cool @ 1st but then it stopped scroling and i couldnt right click and it got very hard to use!

Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT buy this mouse.

I got tired of my wireless keyboard and wireless mouse losing their connections on a semi-weekly basis, so I threw them out and bought a retrograde hard-wired (imagine that!) keyboard and mouse. No more lost connections, but.....

I never thought of a mouse having an drinking- or drug problem, but I am convinced this little creature is a serious alcoholic or substance abuser! Many, many times an hour it does the equivalent of falling down drunk or stoned: going right when moving left, going left when moving right, or going to far corners of the screen when (I swear!) I have not move my wrist one millimeter! The right-click button is as reliable as a drinker or druggie: sometimes it responds, sometimes not. When it does respond, it's sometimes coherent, but usually not. Don't even ask about the too-hard-to-regularly-use side buttons on its "waist"!

I just talked to two people at Apple who said their mice were similarly unreliable. It's said that, in afterlife's inferno, product designers have to use the products they designed. I think there's a special place reserved for the designer of this mouse.

My first mighty mouse that came with my iMac was great until the scroll wheel stopped working due to dirt. Even after trying to clean it it just wasn't the same.

Now I have a BRAND NEW mighty mouse. Just opened the box this morning. Plugged it in and was excited to use it. It works great EXCEPT the scroll wheel does not scroll UP! This is a brand new mouse so I can't see the issue of dirt around the scroll ball being an issue. I'm highly disappointed with Apple over the design of this mouse.

It's been three years and the Mighty Mouse (wired or wireless, I've got both) still only lasts a month before the ball stops working. Seriously, how can Apple keep selling a defective design for all this time without fixing it? And how can we consumers keep buying it? I'm about ready to send back (under AppleCare) for my 4th Mighty Mouse because they get to the point where you can't even clean them to get them to work anymore. Once AppleCare ends, I'm off to a competitor.

I've been living with three Mighty-Mice for more than a year now. I'm ready to scream.

They're lovely. They are a triumph of elegant industrial design. They feel nice in your hand, and work great! (for a while).

But then your scroll-ball jams. And then you clean it. And then it jams. And then you clean it. And then it jams. And one day: your heart just breaks, and you realize: "I hate this thing. It makes my life miserable."

There are two bad things about this product which sneak up on you and drive you off the edge: One is the scroll-ball. Such a good idea! A real shame it doesn't work.

The other is the "which button" sensor. Usually it works. Which means: It's fun when you first try it, but infuriating after a year of solid use.

I'm going to go buy an ugly mouse with real, physical buttons and a boring old wheel. And it will be a happy day, my friend. A happy day.
