    Apple has improved this mouse!

    • Written by from Ann Arbor

I HIGHLY recommend this for GAMERS, but the magic mouse kinda doesn't fit me that much because it will scroll sometimes when I am just clicking the magic mouse.

    Some common sense please

    • Written by from Vancouver

Biggest complaint about it, the track ball stops working. A. maybe wash your hands from time to time. Oil and dust from our skin is unavoidable but 1 month or even 6 months and already having problems is on you. B. If it acts up, flip it over and start doing figure eights on a blank sheet of paper and watch as the eight starts showing color....ewwww. I love these mice (the plural for mouse previous reviewer) and pick them up all the time for next to nothing because of "problems" with the scroll ball. I have a box of more than twenty spares at my office all of which were fixed this way, 100% success rate. You can perform this quick fix or just take it apart and thoroughly clean it which takes all of a whopping three to five minutes. These concepts can't be escaping you people, its' common sense. I would take once of these over the horrific Magic Mouse any day of the week. My only complaint, where is the aluminum?

    perfect

So I purchased this mouse because I have two PowerPc G3 imacs (one slot one tray). My problem was I needed a mouse for my slot loading model because my tray loading was using my puck mouse. I went to best buy and picked it up for $49 and six months later still works. Great product. Good value.

    Have LOVED IT

    • Written by from Danville

I have been using this mouse for almost 7 years and I have LOVED it. Yes, the little scroll ball does get sticky from time to time, but a good cleaning with alcohol and a q-tip works wonders. I've owned 2 Mighty Mouse(s?) and loved those even better because they were wireless. One quit working after several years and the other broke in pieces when it was dropped on a hard floor. Apple replaced these with the Magic Mouse, which is more awkward, too thin and doesn't have the two buttons on the side, which I programmed for Expose. I wish Apple would bring back the WIRELESS Mighty Mouse, I really miss that one!! Guess I'll have to use a hardwired one or get a Magic Mouse...not that magical. :(

    Works Great

    • Written by from Burlington

I have been using my mouse for close to 4 years now. Although I do have both types, the wireless for my laptop and the wired for my desktop, I prefer it to the wireless as it has more of the functions that I want for work. I clean it, and my keyboard, once every few months with a disinfecting wipe and find that to be enough to keep them both working smoothly and effectively. I don't find that the ball gums up as others say, all of my functions continue to work and work well. After 4 years of use 8 hours per day 5 days a week I think this product is well worth the money and beats any other mouse I have used over my extensive office experience.

I love this mouse! Don't know what everyone's problem is

    • Written by from Pleasant Grove

I love this mouse, I'm addicted to using the buttons for expose (desktop, and all windows). I'm having a hard time wanting to switch to the new magic mouse or trackpad.

All you have to do to keep the scroll ball working well is get the mac cleaning cloth, turn it upside down and rub back and forth on the scroll ball to loosen any dirt/dust.

I love this mouse--have used it for over 4 years.

    • Written by from Hixson

I love this mouse. I can scroll up and down between 2 different documents without having to click either one of them... great when I'm working 2 monitors at a time at work with multiple windows and applications. You may want to adjust the mouse movement speed settings like I did, until you find a comfortable pace while getting used to how it moves.

Yes, mouse goes crazy if your mouse pad is dirty or old--my cursor jumped across the screen for awhile, until I got a new mousepad. Keep your work area crumb-free. When the scrolly-ball gets dirty, use a Clorox wipe to rub over the scrolling ball in all directions for about 10 seconds. Then use a paper towel and rub over the ball in all directions. It's worked time and again for me. Also, make sure your lotioned-hands don't touch the ball. Wipe your scrolling finger off because lotion gums up the works. The Clorox removes all the oil and dirt buildup, but eventually you may have to open the mouse to get extreme buildup cleaned out.

When it's clean, this mouse saves my hands a lot of grief. I can move my cursor around with minimal hand effort--which is great because I work long hours on my computer each day. The cord doesn't bother me because this mouse is just that good.

This has been my absolute favorite mouse--and I am extremely picky about my workspace and equipment. I like accuracy and efficiency while being comfortable, so this mouse is my perfect tool. It may not be for everyone, but it's perfect for me.

Great Mouse - Easy cleaning fix when scroll ball doesn't work

    • Written by from New Hope

I have owned this mouse for about two years and just recently the scroll ball didn't work anymore when scrolling "up". Other than that the mouse has been perfect and between this mouse and the mag trackpad (which I also own) - I am not sure which one I like better. The mouse has some benefits that the trackpad doesn't match, but there are advantages of the trackpad as well. Anyway, like so many postings and subsequent bad ratings, I have eventually experienced that the scrolling mechanism failed. I looked up some of the positive reviews here and took a can of spray electronic cleaner (I was out of the compressed air / dust removal spray can stuff) and sprayed the cleaner into the scroll ball area. Within about a minutes the mouse was just fine and everything worked again. Great mouse! I continue to enjoy it and am not planning to replace it. Just needed a few seconds of cleaning.

BEST MOUSE EVER-SCROLLBALL ISSUE EASY FIX TOO

    • Written by from GLEN BURNIE

First let me address the scrollball issue. I too got angry and freaked out about the scrollball stopping all downward scrolling one day. I found the review here about using a dust-off compressed air on it and it worked with the first tiny puff inside the crack around the ball.

With that aside, this mouse is unbelievable. I do graphic design and web design and I always need to scroll horizontal and vertical and CONSTANTLY switch between both windows and open applications frequently. The best part about this mouse for me aside from no batteries is the side buttons which I set to expose and the scrollball click button which I set to application switcher. I like this mouse better than the magic mouse and cant use anything else. Being able to jump to different windows and applications with a push of my thumb saves so much time. Nothing else Ive found can compete.

    Second Day Use, Awesome Mouse..

    • Written by from Calgary

I've used Logitech, Microsoft, Razer, & Apple Mice in the past, and I have to say this is the best one I've come across, especially for Mac OS users..

I'm a Web Designer, so I rely on pixel accuracy, and this mouse delivers in that area.. Not only that - it's much better then the Magic Mouse & it's certainly more ergonomic then the Magic Mouse..

Now I've only had the opportunity to use it for 2 days, and I suspect based on a lot of the comments is that eventually It will loose some functionality.. But because I haven't experienced any issues just yet I'm going to give it a 5 star..

I got this mouse for $35 Brand new sealed, so In my case I think it was worth it at that price..

If it does end up failing, there is 1 year warranty, so I'm guessing after replacing it you could potentially use it up to 1 1/2 years.. Which is not too bad IMO..

    Easy Scroll Ball fix. Really!

    • Written by from Concord

Yes, when it works it desearves five stars. But I don't know why Apple, after all these years, doesn't include this simple, effective solution to "clean" the malfunctioning Scroll Ball that eventually may get clogged with even invisible particles (skin cells?) in even the cleanest operating environments. Just get any can of "air," a compressed-gas duster that is typically used for camera lenses, etc., and attach the thin tube nozzle extension. Position the tip straight down onto the side of the Scroll Ball and gently depress it (the center click function) to open the small crack around the ball and usually just one gentle puff of air will dislodge the dirt from any of the tiny stuck wheels inside. Your wonderful Apple Mouse Scroll Ball will start working again. If Apple was smart, they would sell a small can of air as a recommended maintenance accessory for this terrifically-designed mouse.

    Works Perfectly, Great Mouse

    • Written by from Tucson

I took two different electives at my middle school, with the same teacher and classroom. The class used iMac G5's with the Apple Mouse (formally Mighty Mouse). These computers and mice saw about 170 students everyday. Even being used by 170 different abusive middle school students, the mouse worked perfectly. The scroll ball is a great idea for scrolling all over the screen easily. I loved using it far better than any other mouse I've ever used.

    I love this mouse!

    • Written by from Calipatria

I purchased my iMac in 2006 and this is the mouse it came with. I use it very often and still love it. I really love the multi directional scroll ball, and use the side squeezy buttons a lot more than I thought I would.

Have I found a few quirks? Sure. Sometimes the scroll ball stops tracking up (much better than losing down), but another reviewer gave a tip of rubbing the scroll ball on a clean piece of paper (with the mouse upside down)-- it works every time. The optics do not like the white laminate surface of my desk, nor anything shiny, but it works on most everything else, including my pant leg.

The click function is easy to work, and I haven't had any problems with over clicking. I really love this mouse and dislike using other ones.

    Awesome!

    • Written by from Woodland Hills

I LOVE this mouse! I'm writing this review because I've seen negative reviews that are clearly PEBMAC (Problem Exist Between MOUSE and Chair)!

The people who say the scroll ball gets dirty too fast must not wash their hands... or maybe they wash their hands with sand, either way, if your hands are clean the scroll ball will be too! Also, if it gets dusty (assuming your hands are clean but you live in a saw mill) you can simply use a a can of compressed air to clean it our (hint: spray air while you scroll for a few seconds).

And for the people who say it randomly clicks for no reason... are you fat? Do you have fat hands? Don't keep your hand resting on the device... duh. Some people have said "it's not ergonomic", look, I use my mouse a lot... A LOT, and its only tough on your hand if you sit all funny and leave your wrist in at a funny angle.

Stop hating on the mouse, probably the best I've used!
