Best mouse on the market... but with quality issues

    • Written by from Växjö

The apple mouse is intuitive, simple and has many different functions without having buttons crammed onto every available space. The scrollweel is somehing I can't live without nowadays, especially when doing more advanced editing. Brilliantly simple in design and looks really good as well.
The only downside, as many have pointed out before me, is that the scrollweel has a strong tendency to stop working. Most people I know who owns a mac has had the same problem with this mouse. Some have been able to fix it and some havn't. The glitch seems pretty ramdom and I don't really know what causes this error.
I've had my mouse for 3 years now and the scrollweel has quit on me several times, though I managed to fix it without any major problems. Now however it seems to have given up for good. Anyway, 3 years is a pretty OK lifespan for a mouse so for me this hasn't been a big issue.

    Don't be Haters, It's great!

I got this mouse right when it came out and loved it. It was the first mouse Apple released that had right click capability. I love the dashboard shortcut and the side pressure buttons. When I heard the wireless version was coming out, I dashed to the Apple store. Its a great mouse, but like any other piece of electronics, you must take care of it. So, all you people who say it breaks, I have two of them and haven't had any problems.

    Nice mouse!

I have reviewed a lot of products and up until now, never offered a commentary on other reviewers. Allow me this observation about the whiners complaining about the scroll ball sticking: Try washing your hands before using your computer and don't eat and type on your keyboard at the same time . . . You could also try dusting your desk once in awhile! Now that being said, we have three iMacs with users ranging from 10 to 54 in the house and have had absolutely NO problems with this mouse. It is a great design with simple to use features, perfectly matched to the Mac OS interface. So, if you can manage not to eat and use your computer at the same time (step away from the Cheetos!), you are probably going to love this mouse. If you can't steal yourself away from your computer long enough to make and eat a proper meal while sitting at the dining room table, then you're liable to have sticky computer peripherals and accessories and this mouse is no exception.

    Works fine

    • Written by from Lake Forest Park

I bought this mouse after we replaced an old Mac with a new one which came with this mouse, and I liked the new capabilities. I've wanted right clicks on Mac for years. I thought I would put some mileage on it before reviewing it. I've now used it for 1 1/2 years nearly every day in an office environment. Occasionally it has the scrolling problem, but if I turn it over and roll the ball around (like the instructions say to), it restores operation. I like to rest two fingers on the mouse and that will confuse it on right and left clicks, so I need to lift a finger off to make sure I get the correct click. With these two adaptations, I'm very happy with it.

I would not consider going back to my old mouse.

    Mighty Mouse, Mighty Fine.

    • Written by from Woodville

I have recently purchased the mighty mouse. I use it for design purposes and find its roller ball precise and much easier to work with than the traditional scroll wheel. I have read numerous reviews of it and had noted that other have had issues with the roller ball getting dirty. I would like to point out that other models also have the same issue, all that is necessary is a good cleaning. Not to mention the fact that there is a one year warranty, most people have had issues before this has expires so apple is replacing it for no charge... what's to complain about there?
Also, the comments regarding the issues with right-clicking and the squeeze feature. I find right-clicking very easy and haven't had any issues with it. As for the squeeze feature, I will admit that I have a hard time squeezing it right. But a small issue as I don't really use that feature too often.
    Overall a great product!

    Mighty!

I've used this mouse for several months now, and primarily because of the "Scroll Ball", it has offically become my favorite. The scroll ball enables me to be more efficient than ever before with my mouse hand, allowing very small movements instead of the constant back and forth motion to the scroll bars that old mice forced me to do. Tack on that you can configure the mouse to have a "Right Click" and it has quickly become my fave. Sleek design too. Bravo!

    BEST MOUSE EVER!!!!!!!!

    • Written by

This is the best mouse ever!!! I am typing on it right now!!! Yes, this mouse is really great. It has perfect feedback and I tend to make less typos! I would recomment this mouse to everybody! It is a two button mouse with a one button look. To program it to use two buttons, you have to go to System Preferances. It is really great! The only thing is that the scroll ball gets dirty and malfucntions after about 2 months but if you get some alcohol pads and wipe the ball with them a few times then it is as good as new. This is way better than the Apple Pro Mouse before it! Do not beleive in what everybody else says! They probably just want you to go and get a lesser quality keyboard! I give this 5-stars for truly being the MIGHTY MOUSE!!!!!!!!

    Wow Really Good Mouse!

    • Written by from Staten Island

I was using M$ mice since I liked the smooth scrolling. But after upgrading to leopard I've had issues with it so I figured lets try the apple mouse and after configuring it in systems preferences to the way I want the buttons to work I'm very happy. All works, I have right-click as this is one main feature I needed since I develop code. A++ highly recommend. On a personal note I like how its one button but the mouse has pressure sensor to know if I hit right click.

    Nearly flawless

    • Written by from Mesa

The Mighty Mouse has gotten some words said about it, both either very positive or very negative, and I see extremely little negative. I have had this same mouse for a year and a half and aside from having to clean the scroll bar a few times, it has worked FLAWLESSLY. The 360 degree scroll is perfect, the sensitivity is amazing, and the fact that whether you are right or left handed, it feels the same, is a prime example of planning ahead. Major criticisms have been that it is uncomfortable and the scroll bar dies. To those I say that I honestly don't see the problem in adjusting, and I figured that since Apple designed OS X and the Mighty Mouse that they would flow together (which they due with incredible precision).

    Apple Mouse

    • Written by

I got to say, this mouse works perfectly. I love the 360 degree scroll. Actually, I got an iMac, keyboard, and this mouse for free! (thanks to my awesome uncle, it came with Windows Vista!!! LOL!) This machine is a white Intel 2006 iMac... so that must mean this mouse is almost 5 years old! This mouse still is really good, and even the track ball works great. I recomend this mouse, although I do not like the pricing on this... it should be $20... but still deserves 5 stars.

    Oily Bricks for Paws

    • Written by from Saint Paul

I 've seen some bad reviews on this Mouse. I have been satisfied with mine. it was a little tricky getting used to now i love it. Some people must have poor touch or really oily fingers. or are eating too much around the Mouse. Both of the mice that i have work just as they are supposed to. Love the little scroll ball for Surfing. just have to get used to it. Some of us don't like to change. I call those folks Stuck in the 20th Century.
