    Poor design, Poor functioning, Do not buy this product

    A have both wireless and USB versions.

    Beside scrolling issues there are much more:

    The ergonomic is really poor, it is too small and the shape is awful. It feels unnatural and Apple coming back to the stone age with this product. Your hand will get tired working with this mouse really fast.

    The functionality is also really bad. There is no right or left button and mouse is always guessing what button did you really press. I have to lift my fingers to make sure I press the right side... There is also something about clicks - they are dumb slow, some times you click but click never happens... I have to click twice, it drives me nuts!!!

    I'm using Microsoft Ergonomic Wireless mouse with my iMac now, it is sooo much better...

    Expensive junk

    I've just had the third mouse in three years become unusable (will no longer scroll down). Expect clicks to be interpreted wrongly and the scroll ball to work erratically despite all cleaning from just about the first use. It feels good to the hand - that's why I used it instead of the cheap-feeling (but functional) Macally mouse I just plugged in so that I can work - but no amount of good feeling makes up for bad performance.

    If only this mouse worked

    Quite simply this mouse scroll button does not work.
    I have had my new iMac computer with the really big screen for less than a year. A working scroll button is essential to help navigate around this huge screen. I work at a college and others are reporting the same issues and have used, in some cases, 3 mice all with the same issue. I expect more from Apple.

    Scroll wheel stops working

    The scroll wheel stops working way too quickly. Cleaning doesn't seem to work for long if at all. Please fix this Apple!!

    Worst. Mouse. Ever.

    This is most unreliable and undependable mouse I've ever used. It scrolls only occasionally, and has the most annoying habit of bringing up the widgets when I don't want them. I am really, really disappointed with this product--I often feel like taking a hammer to it. YUCK.

    CHEAP

    Worst mouse ever. It lasted all of 3 months and started to die. First it started right-clicking EVERYTHING and now it won't scroll downward. Spend the money and just buy the Magic Mouse instead.

    For all it's engineering prowess....

    Apple could not conceive something as simple and basic as a computer mouse. Someone let the Apple engineers and Steve Jobs know that not everyone has a hand the size of an Oompa Loompa and we prefer our purchases to be functional for AT LEAST a few years before having to replace them. The track ball in this thing is pitiful. And I tried the other touch mouse Apple just released. It seems to work better but it's still TOO SMALL. Your hand/wrist should not be killing you after a half hour of use.

    Useless Junk

    Total piece of garbage. I own 3 of these at home. And work at a school that has a lab with 7 of these mice. 100% of the time they get screwed up within 6-12 months of using them. The track balls stops working and it the mouse it self jumps around on the screen. AVOIDE THIS HARDWARE.

    Scroll ball stuck. I don't care if there is a fix. I shouldn't have to do it... my Logitech and Microsoft mice I have don't have this problem. Hey Apple, next time, don't "reinvent the wheel" when the wheel works just fine how it is.

    Bad mouse

    I thought my mouse was the only one giving me problems, as I see I'm not the only one. I took it back to the apple store to get it clean, but it only worked for a few week. Apple should do something about this.

    I hate you Apple

    I was bidding on an auction on eBay for a thermal shirt so I could play tennis in the cold without freezing in the ~40°F, but right when I went to place the would-have-been-winning-bid, the mouse thought it was going to be funny, and stopped scrolling and tracking, and now I have to play tennis in the freezing cold weather today with any real protection from the cold, thanks to Apple.

    I wish I could meet the person who made this insult to technology.... >:(

    I will only be buying my new MacBook Pro during the 2010 refresh and I'm done with Apple's peripherals.

    Great for a while

    The trackball on the mouse tanks after a couple of month's use. I've swapped mine out a couple of times and the problems always recur.

    Plainly put, this is a pretty package that worked well for 6 months before the ball stuck. No amount of compressed air, blowing cajoling worked. Look elsewhere for a good mouse.

    scroll mouse

    I purchased my first mac in dec./09. Had to replace mouse as scroll wheel did not work after 2 weeks. Now near end of Jan/10 and the wheel is gone again. I am only person using it, so not overuse. any one else have this problem

    have had this mouse for over one year and it does not work any more. I regret I did not return it immediately after i bought it. Since first days of use the mouse scroll ball started to fail, I took it to service with the sleek apple people and they cleaned it, it seemed to work well. i got home and few minutes later it did not work again. This mouse rather than being a tool it has been a real pain, I have spent more time trying to fix it than working with it. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT. It is a shame that apple makes this very poor quality mouse.

    One of the worst Mice ever!

    When I bought my mac in 2008 I got the mighty mouse (wireless) and it worked fine. then, about one week later, the scroll ball stopped working. so I took it to the apple store and they told me to clean it with a Q-tip and alcohol. so I did that and it worked. I had to do that about every week or so. The batteries also stop working in about 2 weeks. over all it is not a good mouse!

    Horrible Mouse

    -The scroll button. I agree with everyone else. Ugh.
    -I also hate the design of the left and right clicker. It is very imprecise. Often, when I want to left click something, it comes up with right click options. I'm not really sure why- I am obviously left-clicking. The design for this could be a lot better. Why do they have to hide the fact that there are two clicking options? Why can't it just be a normal mouse?
    -I've used this mouse for only a few months. First the scroll button went, then-I guess because of dirt- it has started going crazily across the page and selecting things. Too bad cleaning it seems to be impossible.

    Track ball is junk

    Why would Apple put a trackball on top of the mouse and make it non-removeable?
    Hands get naturally oily, and dirt and dust settle ON TOP of things.
    Sealing the ball into the case has to be one of the lamest ideas ever.
    I thought maybe Apple had a new solution here, but it's the same old gunked-up routine I thought was long gone.
    Remember the old trackball mouse? It had a removable ball, for cleaning, and that was a hassle, back then...in the 80's.
    Very dissapointing product.

    scroll ball

    scroll started acting up in about 6 months.my brother bought a new iMAC 3months ago & his is acting up already.love my iMAC but mouse is piece of junk.going to try new wireless bluetooth mouse that scrolls like a laptop(touch not mechanical) but wish it was hard wired & not battery powered but digital camera uses AA rechargeables so that shouldn't be a problem!

    YUGO?

    I'm a big Mac fan. The performance of this mouse is in stark contrast to everything else Mac. It's like Ferrari put a Yugo transmission in it's cars. One uses a mouse much as one uses a trans in a sports car. If the interface is bad, it harshes the whole "mellow" of the experience. It needs to cleaned too frequently. The ball needs a fix. This blows my mind in an ultra negative way. I've bragged about Mac to my friends and on my radio show. I'll still brag, but I'll vent my frustration here. How bout a voucher Steve?
