The Mighty Mouse is Sure Mighty!

    • Written by from Panorama Village

I bought this mouse 4 months ago and never had a problem with it. It is comfortable to me and never I had a problem with it. Its tiny trackball may be a little uncomfortable for some, but its fine with me. The price seems a little high but its worth the money.

    Mighty Mouse Solution

    • Written by from springfield

Thank you, thank you, thank you to the reviewer who said to roll the ball on a piece of paper on a hard surface to clean out the dirt/lint/whatever else is in there. I did just that and it did seem a bit abusive to the ball at first. However, my Mighty Mouse is once again Mighty! Works like new again and I just saved myself $50 since I didn't have to get a new one. TRY IT...IT REALLY DOES WORK!

    Great Mouse

    • Written by from Riverside

This mouse works just great. I've had the wired and wireless versions of this mouse and both of them are just great. The wireless sometimes takes more than expected to connect to the Mac but other than that, it's great. From time to time, the scroll ball stops working, but nothing that a soft cloth and alcohol can't fix! I put a bit of rubbing alcohol on a cloth and turn the mouse upside down and scrub it up/down, left/right and it becomes fully functional again! Clean your Mouse, people! Don't return the mouse... It's uniform shape and size makes it very easy to hold and isn't awkward at all! Buy it!

    Great advice...

    • Written by from Saratoga Springs

I've worked with the mighty mouse for sometime, and one of my cohorts taught me a neat trick. Place an ordinary piece of paper on a hard, flat surface. Press the ball against the paper and roll it around. It seems abusive at first, but all of the gross little chunks of dirt and such spew out on the paper. Thus making your mouse mighty once again.

excellent mouse - best on market

    • Written by from Fayetteville

I've been using 2 different Mighty Mouse (Mice) for a couple of years now. One with my MacBok and one with my PC at work. Both are great.

I think they are the most ergonomic and comfortable mice and they improved my wrist pain dramatically, they look great, they are very accurate at tracking, and they do not get dirty inside.

I do not know why people are finding the ball getting so dirty? Maybe their hands are not clean when they are using it?

I used to use Logitech and Intellimouse and I bought the first Mighty Mouse for one for my PCs at work after testing a lot of mice at a store. I love it and my co-workers are envious. Try it out at Best Buy, Apple Store, or anywhere else that sells it. They usually have one on display and you can get a feel for how smooth it feels and operates. PLUS, on a Mac (sorry PC users) you can scroll SIDEWAYS with the ball as it moves in all directions! Great design and great product and I am not just trying to push Apple products at all.

    Nearly perfect!

    • Written by from ARLINGTON

Sure, the trackball needs periodic cleaning, but the whole mouse is so subtle I often forget I'm using it. When I touch a mouse without 360 degree scrolling, I'm completely lost and totally annoyed. Now, Apple, just do one in aluminum, willya?

    Scroller malfunction fix

    • Written by

I had similar problems with the scroller failing within a few months of buying the mouse. Really frustrated me till I read this review that a good citizen wrote for the wireless mouse. Try it...it works!

This is not a review - it's a fix for the scroller.

I went to the Apple store by my house today and talked to a guy about sending this mouse in for repair since I have only had it a few months. He said I needed an appointment, but he also said it was easily fixed. He advised me to clean the roller ball on the top with alcohol wipes or a q-tip soaked in alcohol.
I thought it wouldn't work but since I had to wait for my appointment to send it in to apple I tried it and cleaned it thoroughly with alcohol and a q-tip. I let it dry for five minutes and it works like new.
I am very pleased with the advice I got and just wanted to share with some of you who might be having the same problem.

    Works great.

    • Written by from Toronto

Thinking of buying one as a gift since my 18 month old my mouse has been perfect. After reading some of the poor reviews I thought I would add my experience. I carry it back and forth to work everyday, it is beat up, scratched, covered in pencil dust and works like new.

    Love it!

    • Written by from cornelius

I have 3, 2 at home and 1 at work. Occasionally the scroll ball will stop working in one direction or another, but all that is needed is an alcohol swab. Rub over the ball in random directions until it starts working again. This cleaning usually has to be done maybe every 6 months.

I received this mouse as a gift about a week ago, and so far I absolutely love it! It has a very sturdy feeling in my hand, and is an absolute joy to use. The 360º scroll ball is amazing, and the pressure pads on the side are extremely useful for access Expose.

    Don't use alchohol !

    • Written by from Lachine

Don't use alchohol to clean the track ball assembly, alchohol is corrosive and the improvement would be short-lived, use WB40 or similar, you don't really want that alcohol getting anywhere near metal connections/contacts, I know Apple recommends alcohol for this job, what, are they drunk? Just make sure you wipe the ball dry, petroleum products are not really good for rubber.
Othewise it's the best mouse I have ever had (I own the wired version).

    Excellent Mouse

    • Written by from EAST ISLIP

Very nice mouse, The scroll wheel is the best feature. I don't know what everyone is complaining about, yes it gets dirty on the scroll wheel sometimes, but so did the ball that used to be on the bottom. What makes you think it wont get dirty? Cleaning it is easy once you know how, just turn it over, put some rubbing alcohol on a paper towel to get the ball wet, and the rub it vigorously on your jeans or something to clean. Other than that, it is great.

    Love it....!

    • Written by

Okay, so I have read a lot of bad reviews on this site and many others. Quite frankly, I don't understand what the problem is. I love this mouse. It is designed for Mac OS X and is a joy to use. I easily was able to get started. You literally just plug it in and voila! Also, I had no problem switching the primary and secondary functions to make it a left-handed mouse.
I guess the biggest complaint people have is with the scroller ball. Honestly, if you keep it clean by cleaning it once a month, you'll be more than A okay...

    Great!!!

    • Written by from Rancho Santa Margarita

THis mouse is great. I love it! All these people who give it bad are idiots that don't even try to fix something when it's broken. When my scroll ball started sticking I just went online and found that all I needed to do was turn it upside down and roll it around! I just do that ant time I have a problem with it (which is very rare).

    Best mouse ever

    • Written by from Baltimore

Despite what most people say in the other reviews, I consider this mouse to be the best one I've worked with. I work in architecture and other fields of design. It is the most accurate and precise mouse you can find in the market now-a-days. People working with Design software might realize this just by using it a little bit. Just like everything, it takes a couple of days to get used to, but in the end it's worth it. You might come across with scrolling problems, but that is something completely fixable. It's all about keeping your mouse clean. It only took me 3 seconds to fix the scroll on my mouse

I purchased the Mighty Mouse over a year ago and thus far, have encountered zero problems. It functions the way it is supposed to and never sticks or gets sluggish. I prefer the tail rather than the wireless because there are fewer problems that can occur. I'm planning on buying a second one for my other computer. Stay away from wireless and you should be OK.
