    Lasts Forever!!!!

    • Written by

I got this mouse when it first came out it shipped with my iMac G5. First of all it lasts forever i have had it for almost three years and it still works like new. EXCEPT the scroll ball nevr went down. This mouse has been through all sorts of things but it still works. I haven't even had ant trouble with the right and left clip part. All around it is a good looking mouse that will last a long time but if you need to use the scroll bar then don't get this.

Sleek, good programming, but scroll ball lacking

    • Written by from Wheaton

I love how the Mighty Mouse's sleek design fits in with the rest of Apple's hardware. It especially looks great next to the new keyboard. However, as with lots of other users, I have had significant problems with the scroll wheel. I have gone through two Mighty Mouse's so far, and each time, the reason for getting another one is the scroll wheel not scrolling in one or multiple directions. Cleaning it sometimes works, but most of the time doesn't.

Why did the manufacturer not supply us with a way into the mouse

    • Written by

I got my iMac last year and was very pleased with the Mighty Mouse at first. Then the inevitable happened with the scroll ball. Apple should note that reliablity of their products is equally important as great looks. I am sure who ever designed this little rascal would have thought to incorporate some way of getting into it for cleaning, but then whose to know if they initially did and it was quashed.......!!!!! There is no way I would pay out $49 for a new Mighty Mouse, knowing that within a year the scroll ball would be useless. I have learned to use the keyboard for scrolling around websites and other than the scroll ball it works fine. I will keep this mouse until a more reliable one comes from Apple.

    Scroll ball!!!

    • Written by from Columbus

I really would like to buy another Mighty Mouse, but until the scroll ball problem gets fixed, I'm not going to shell out $50 for a 4-month product. Like so many others, my Mouse worked mightily for about 4 months then stopped scrolling up and down. It has been so long since its worked correctly that I have forgotten how convenient it must have been when it was fully operational.

Only if there was some way to keep all dust, debris, and oil out of the little ball area! Unfortunately, in the real world, dust, small debris, and sometimes oily fingers are a part of life. A redesign needs to consider this - and until it happens, I'll still be using my part-functional Mighty Mouse.

    Nit-Picking!

    • Written by from Clinton

Like I said the cord for it is way too short for those whom don't use it with the keyboard! If your going to get one of these to use separate from the keyboard, then look at the Razer. I also don't like it doesn't do ctrl-clicks either, this is a hassle when using it to open menus. Other then these nit-picks this is an all around great mouse, I really love the scroll ball on it, though it could be a bit bigger IMHO. I love how it feels in my hand and how light it is.

    Apple Mouse, not so Mighty.

    • Written by from Miramichi

The apple mouse or (Mighty Mouse) as some have called it, is a great little mouse. I enjoy the features it does have, the 360 scroll ball, the pressure sensors on the side really come in handy, and it just overall has a good feel.

The downside to this mouse is the high maintenance, you need to clean it every day or the ball will stop scrolling, and the bottom will collect a lot of dust.

If you don't mind high maintenance than you should get it for the features it does have. However I don't believe it's worth the price they ask (as with any apple product).

NICE BUT THE SCROLL BALL DOES NOT WORK

    • Written by from Chicago

Nice, small and gorgeous mouse, but the scroll ball does not work properly, and it´s really a headache when you most need it.
Apple needs to work in the scroll ball.

It works just need some help

    • Written by from KITCHENER

Like most of the reviewers, I agree the ball does stop working now and again. I have used the same mighty mouse for close to 5 years almost daily and I would say I need to flip it over and spin it on paper or a mouse pad at least twice a month. If they ever made this mouse with the magic mouse scroll capabilities or that pad they have on the new blackberry's apple would by far have the best mouse on the market.

Pros: touch sensitive left AND right click, being able to click down on the scroll ball (great for expose) and additional side buttons

Cons: Scroll ball issues, 2 side buttons must be clicked together to work would be good if each side button could have its own control.

I will be greatly looking forword to an updated mighty mouse as the magic mouse lacks some of the mighty mouse features ie. ball click ann side buttons

    I like it but...

    • Written by from Altadena

When I bought my iMac I was expecting to replace the mighty mouse because I have high standards for mouse ergonomics. I was surprised that I liked the mighty mouse's low profile, which took the strain off my mouse hand. Over the year I had it, I had to clean the scroll ball a couple of times when it got dirty, but it was not hard to clean.

I just sold my iMac and bought a unibody Macbook, keyboard, mouse, and 24" cinema display. My complaint about the mighty mouse: The length of the cord is not listed in the specs for the product, and I find this inexcusable. I had to read many reviews to find out the cord was "short". It is not as short as the cord on the mouse shipped with the iMac. For those who need to know, the cord is about 28 inches long: too short to use with the notebooks having USB ports on the left, and about a foot too long to use with the wired keyboard.

    Just broke.

    • Written by

Well I have had my iMac for about a year now. And the mouse came with the computer. But the mouse finally broke. It didn't come as a shock because the reviews that I read said that the scroller on the mouse would become unresponsive. But anyway, I would think that a mouse could last longer than just one year. That is why I gave it a 3 out of 5. But I got a lot of use out of this mouse so it is not a terrible product. Just expect it to last about a year or so.

    Nice, while it lasted

    • Written by from Larchmont

My scroll ball is dead. I have cleaned it and cleaned, and nothing. I have had the mouse for about four months I think. That is unfortunately so often the case with Apple produts - they just don't last.

    Mighty "Dissapointment"

    • Written by from FPO

Any person who knows the feeling of falling in love with Apple creations also must agree that when everything works together it is even better. I bought an iMac last year for my wife to use and to work with my Macbook Pro. The Mighty Mouse was an obvious choice to buy to go with the iMac, but has only been mediocre at best.

While the design is fantastic if you are desiring simplicity, it primarily has to work. Within the first three months of normal use, the scroll ball will no longer scroll down, only up. Not only is that frustrating but it's annoying as well because it makes me not want to purchase another mouse to to replace it.

My advice, spend $20-30 on a different mouse that will undoubtedly last much much longer than this one will.

    Great mouse but has issues

    • Written by from Asheville

overall the mighty mouse looks like it should be flawless.
it scrolls good the 2 sides buttons are good too.
but the wheel has allot of problems most of the time it doesn't want to scroll up or down.
i'm on my second mighty mouse since I bought my imac
apple didn't wastle no time in getting me a new one though.
however my second one is already acting up I think it's a design flaw.
this is the only thing I have had from apple that wasn't great.
    keep trying apple.

Engineering issues need to be addressed

    • Written by from Orlando

I'm on my third one in two years. And the one I have now has also succumbed to lousy engineering. It's the infamous trackball issue. So I will now need to replace it as well. This time the ball won't even move forward. That makes four in two years. Surely, an innovative company like Apple is capable of designing a piece of hardware that lasts more than six months. If I could figure out how to disassemble the thing I would fix it myself.

so, i got an imac for my birthday when i turned 16, it's less than a month from my 18th birthday now, and the scroll ball on my mouse is giving out and has been for a few months. it doesn't seem to like to scroll down anymore. big problem since clearly every page i basically have to scroll down on. but overall it's pretty good, just needs a new way to not have the scroll break.. aka the newest mouse!

Not great, but not as bad as indicated here

    • Written by from Lincoln

This mouse is alright, but the new magic mouse is better. It is true that the wheel often gets dirty, but this is an easy fix (albeit a pain in the rear). All you need to do is turn the mouse over and press down firmly while rolling the wheel against the paper to clean it; this will restore the wheel's functionality. I feel kinda bad for the people that just tossed their mice out when a simple google search would have yielded a solution.

Ehhh... Worked okay for a while and then KABOOM!

    • Written by from PETALUMA

I really, really wanted to like my Mighty Mouse. When I got my iMac in the mail, the mouse was the first thing I wanted to try out - not the computer. And it was fabulous for that first week - I was just in love with that scroll ball; it was so helpful in Photoshop, among other things. Then I started noticing that the side buttons were super, super sensitive. I figured I could live without them, so I turned them off in Sys Prefs. Then the scroll ball started clogging up. No biggie, I could turn the mouse upside down and roll it around until it started working again.... right?
Anyways, long story short, seven months later... the scroll ball WILL NOT unclog. No matter how I try, it's just stuck. I'm scared to take it apart, so I'm using an old Microsoft mouse now. I wonder if the Magic Mouse will be any better?
