Needs to be functional and has to stand-up

    • Written by from Pittsburg

I bought my first I mac about one to two yrs ago. Everything seemed to work flawlessly.
Then the mouse believe it or not shattered. I had to get some other mouse which technically is inferior. I now have to get a new one since apple does not cover this under the warranty. So the review of the mouse is ok but not perfect but you guys need to make the mouse more sturdy and built like other manufactures.
    Thanks

    Cool looking but deeply flawed...

    • Written by from Ancramdale

Right. It looks cool and its wireless! But then it stops there...The scroll ball is a failure. I do a lot of work on PS and need to be able to scroll around easily. This kills my skills. It has stopped working on the down scroll and barely works on the up. I've even cleaned it. If I could get inside I could really clean it well...But alas, no dice, er...I mean "no mice".

I've been through 3 of these mice now. Poor poor design. Thumbs way down.

    cheesy mouse

    • Written by

It just never worked. Well maybe for a week. If they trusted the consumer to open it up and clean it... Maybe, but I did everything they said to and it just doesn't work. Don't buy it unless you like having to move the mouse around on your own. The ball is worthless.

    Mighty Mouse...not so mighty

    • Written by from Duncanville

I'm on my 3rd Mighty Mouse in two years and the trackball has failed each time, including yesterday. Very poor quality in my opinion. Was going to check out the Magic Mouse, but I don't think I will. Apple never was a leader in the mouse department (remember the "puck"?) Logitech, Microsoft, IOgear seem to have better alternatives.

    Not the best mouse ever....

    • Written by from alameda

After owning this mouse for only 6 months the scroll died. You don't realize how much you use it until it's gone. The battery life is a bit shorter than I'd expect as well....bummer. I like the design...I should have listened to the reviews, but I didn't. So, if you like the design and don't use the scroll, then you will love this mouse. It just doesn't pass the test of time...

Works, but not exemplary of Apple quality design

    • Written by from Seattle

The Mighty Mouse is my least favorite Apple product that I own.
I appreciate the simplicity of it and the fact that it has multiple buttons and an all-direction scroll ball.
However, the scroll ball hangs up quite often, limiting scroll functionality. This must be remedied by dislodging trapped particles in the mouse using various techniques like rubbing the ball firmly and swiftly on a hard surface. That is not Applesque design quality. I expect better from them. It is also very easy to accidently click the wrong button.
With the touch technology incorporated into other Apple products, a touch/gesture-based scroll and/or click surface would greatly improve this product. It would bring it up to par technologically with other Apple products.
I give the Mighty Mouse two out of five stars, because the product is better than low-end mice on the market, but far from what you'd normally expect from Apple. This, in my opinion, is Apple's worst product.

    Wire TOO SHORT

I love the way the mouse works but I think it needs at least 6 more inches on the cable to be useful.

    DRIVES ME NUTS!

    • Written by

well this is a review from someone who is so passionate about MAC that he/she usually NEVER allows something to find!
    but the mouse is CRAB!!
not only that the balls dies nearly immediately and i hardly can use it but the WORST is that this mouse seems to have something magnetic in it that it jumps wherever it wants. annoys if you want to click somewhere and it becomes alive and jumps all around the screen!

    APPLE DO SOMETHING!!!

    A bit disappointed....

    • Written by

Those of you who own or use a macbook with this mouse will instantly understand my frustration (those who are right handed). The mouse usb cable is WAY TOO SHORT because the only usb ports are on the back left side of the macbook. I suppose this is fine for left handed people or those who can use both hands for functions. Two demerits...one for the macbook not having usb connections on the right side and the other for mighty mouse not having a decent length usb plug. Shame on you mac...

    Nice Idea - Bad Design

    • Written by from Marysville

The one thing I really, really liked about it was the 360 scroll wheel - that's very handy.

But it didn't take long for the scroll wheel to stop working because it's exactly like an old-fashioned ball-type mouse, except it's on top... and you can't take it out and clean the dirty rollers. So, once it stops working, it's hosed.

I wasn't fond of the right-click function. It's TOUCH-sensitive and not PRESSURE-sensitive, so it was unpredictable for me (normally, both of my fingers are TOUCHING the mouse when I PRESS the right button). But I tolerated it because of the handy 360 scroll.

The minimalist look was sort of nice too, but it doesn't look as fancy now... broken in pieces in my garbage can.

BTW, it cannot be disassembled, cleaned, and put back together because it's glued together (forget screws or snap-together parts). Making it completely unrepairable is what really kills it for me.

    nothing but problems

    • Written by from philadelphia

I have had some issues as well with this mouse..1 was the short cord but I believe it was designed to plug right onto the new keyboard so if you do not have the keyboard with the usb plug then you are out of luck. 2. the pointer seems to go where it wants and I see I am not the first with this issue. I have called and sent fro a new one since I am under warranty. I have not had the scroller issue yet, i will watch out for it when the new one arrives.

Worst mouse I have ever had.

    • Written by from MISSOURI CITY

This mouse is horrible. The scroll ball will cease to work if any, and I mean ANY impurities touch it. Sweat from your fingertip, any kind of dirt, no workie. The side buttons on the side are handy, but they're only so redeeming. You're better off getting a logitech wireless laser mouse for half the money.

Yet another scroll ball goes out

    • Written by from Hot Springs

Like a lot of other reviewers here, my scroll ball stopped working--mine was six months old. Get a new one while your warranty lasts, but don't buy a Mighty Mouse if you want to use the scroll ball.

    Not Impressed

    • Written by from STOCKPORT

I like the styling of this product, but I think Apple should go back to the drawing board (or CAD package!) for this one.

I've had it for about 3 weeks now, and am just about to throw it away and buy something else. I find it uncomfortable to use, but by far its most annoying feature is the Right 'button'.

I frequently need to run Windows applications from my Mac, which need both buttons. Unfortunately, most of the time when I try to Right click, the mouse performs a Left click, which causes the application to do something totally inappropriate.

So far I have been lucky with the scroll wheel, which I quite like. Otherwise I would have only given 1 star.

    Great at first

    • Written by from Eureka

I loved this mouse for a few months, then the scroll ball started going wonky. I read through a bunch of reviews and it turned out everyone apparently had been having issues with this.

So I followed other reviewers' suggestions and regularly cleaned it etc. and that helped but eventually (this week) the scroll ball has completely stopped working no matter what I do. That's six months with the mouse, three months frustration.

The ball is a great idea, and when I'm on other computers I wish I had it, but the idea was poorly executed. Come on, Apple. You really expect people to buy a fifty dollar mouse with only a few redeeming qualities that break after six months? Please, please, please fix this mouse.

Bottom line: If you're looking for a high-quality mouse that'll last, skip this one.

    lost downscroll

    • Written by

I am new to mac, having started with a new intel imac at the beginning of sept. I have been very happy with the whole package up to now and still am...but a week after i set up the imac the downscroll on my mighty mouse wouldn't work so I cleaned it according to instructions after which it worked fine for just over a month. Now it has stopped working again and I can't fix it. I am greatly impressed with the imac itself, the keyboard, and the fantastic software, but this mouse seems flimsy and judging by reviews it is. Given the reputation of apple products I had really hoped to be trouble free for more than 2 months.

    Mighty mouse??

    • Written by from Highlands Ranch

I bought this mouse a little over a year ago and it no longer scrolls and it "clicks" at random times. It was a good mouse for the first year. I'm disappointed that Apple can't come up with a better mouse that doesn't need to be replaced every year.
