    Not so mighty after all

    • Written by from Usquert

Very nice looking mouse but far from the level I expect from Apple and far from what I would expect from this price level.

The cool stuff: supernormal design, simple shape, just as beautiful on bottom as on top, very sophisticated, left+right hand, short USB cable perfect for plugging into Apple keyboard, unobtrusive embossed logo, nice quality material (but hope next model will be in aluminum).

The irritations: shape is too low causing strain in arm and shoulder, very slow tracking (far too slow on 24" iMac with tracking set to fastest), too much friction when moving mouse over table caused by large soft edge on bottom, side 'squeeze' buttons far too easy to accidentally initiate besides why make a perfectly simple product complicated? Hope they will be removed from next version. All I need is 2 button mouse + scroll ball, that's it. By far most irritating is the right mouse click which 3 out of 10 times turns into left mouse click. Scroll ball easy to get dirty and then starts to stutter. Mouse cable not very flexible, during cold winter mine stood up (gravity not able to hold it down to the desk).

In conclusion a very nice looking mouse that fits perfectly with design of iMac but for me it is a love-hate relationship. Have been switching back and forth between A4-tech laser mouse and mighty mouse. Must say I'm getting used to it after persistently trying to master it but can't compare to any 'normal' entry level mice from Logitech or others who at least get the basics right.

Mighty Mouse is not up to it

    • Written by from CARDIGAN

Whilst I love my Mac and the keyboard is great I've had two Mighty Mouse(s) and both have been faulty. The first one stopped right clicking after a couple of days. The second was OK for a while but now the scroll wheel doesn't work. I've gone back to my Creative mouse which still works great after five years.

i have been a an Apple user going on 3 years now w/ no means of going back. i got my iMac last summer and it came w/ the mighty mouse. i only started using it in november of 2006 but notcied the great functionality it has especially since i'm a moviemaker. to scroll in the timeline of iMovie, Final Cut, and Soundtrack makes things so easy w/ this mouse. but like ever else i started noticing problems a few months later, february. the scroll ball crapped out on me. my mom had just bout a mac too and gave me her mighty mouse. i switched the unused one in march and here it is august, i'm having the same problem again. i've tried cleaning it w/ alcohol, peroxide, water but it only works for a day after that. i will not buy another one until they fix this. that thing is way too much money to have it work for a few month~!!! apple will have to completely redesign this thing for me to buy a new one~!!!

    Unremarkable/Unspecial

After giving it several weeks to grow on me, I find that this mouse is actually continued irritating me. Even after adjusting the preferences I find the mouse to be non responsive. The scroll button works only in one direction. I am a fan of all thing s Apple, this is my first exception. The expectation was way higher than the actual product revived. Save your money buy something else.

    scrolling problems

I am on my 2nd mouse in 1 1/2 yr of having my computer. The scroll button does not always work. There is no making sense out of when it will decide to work or not.

    Pretty flawed mouse

I know it looks good and cool, but I would rather have the Pro Mouse that used to sell because it just had 3 steps to use 1. Unbox 2. Plug in 3. USE!!!

    Great features, but won't last

    • Written by from Tucson

I think Apple may be setting itself up for a customer satisfaction reckoning. New MacBook power blocks fail & light on fire sometimes, and this mouse -- with some really great features -- doesn't last. I got one with my iMac in June '07, and by the end of the year the track ball would periodically stop scrolling. If I picked at it enough it would work again, and now it's failed...again.

I think Apple's QA & QC is failing these days...maybe that's what happens when you seem like you're the "it" thing...that the thing is more important than the people who buy it. Wrongo, Steve.
