    Worst Mouse Ever

    • Written by from Belleville

This is the first time I have been gravely disappointed with an Apple product, but this mouse is just awful. I wanted to love this device but found that it became non responsive after a few uses. The scroll ball seems to pic up everything none to man and gets clogged after a few uses and that is with clean hands.

What makes this device poorly designed is that an ordinary consumer can not effectively clean the gunk out of the mouse without taking it apart and having to put it back together again. I really wanted to love the mouse but after several months of owning this device, I feel like a fool for buying it. Apple should give us all who bought this device a regular mouse that just works like it suppose to.

    Great... for awhile

    • Written by from Annapolis

Have only had for about a year or so and the scroll ball is now completely unreliable. I clean it, following the Apple Support page instructions, and it just doesn't work consistently anymore no matter what I do. Now that I'm so used to the scroll ball, it is just a source of frustration that it rarely works as it should.

mouse is good except roller ball dies

    • Written by from McMinnville

I have had my Mac for about 7 months and love everything about it, except now the roller ball on the mouse won't scroll down.

    Agree

This mouse is awful. Scroll ball is completely broken and is now interfering with left click so that it is instead interpreting left clicks as scroll ball clicks.

    Awful.

    Don't Buy

Most things about the mouse are great. But the scroll button will stop working after a few months of use, and you will have to throw the mouse away. And this mouse is super expensive.

    Ready to squash this mouse

    • Written by from Calgary

Maybe it will scroll, maybe it won't. Maybe it will scroll up but not down, maybe it will scroll down but not up.

Maybe I don't have time to constantly be running it upside down on a piece of paper and blowing air into it etc.

C'mon Apple make a decent mouse with a decent sized scroll ball and one that can actually be cleaned without major disassembly.

Mouse needs to be replaced after 8 months

    • Written by from Holly

Boy am I glad the Apple Store Genius recommend I keep my old Apple Pro Mouse when I got my new iMac. The Mighty Mouse that came with my new computer has failed after only 8 months of use. The cord is fraying and splitting where it leaves the front of the mouse (and I don't have animals so there is no possibility of something chewing it). Not to mention the countless problems I have with it sometimes being too responsive, sometimes being unresponsive and sometimes moving clear across the screen on it's own.

WORST APPLE PRODUCT I HAVE EVER OWNED.

    Might mouse STINKS!

    • Written by from san diego

This is my second mighty mouse, and like all negative posts, the track ball stopped working after several months, both of them! I will not be buying another until Apple takes care of this issue. It is, obviously, as serious engineering FLAW! THE MIGHTY MOUSE STINKS!

    Don't bother

    • Written by from Dulles

Just like everyone else here, the scroll ball stopped working properly. At least ours lasted awhile (just until the warranty expired) and then stopped scrolling down. And as much as you think, "...aw, no big deal, I can live with it." It really is a pain. I thought it was a fluke and was going to get another one but I'm glad I looked here first and saw these reviews!! I'm not wasting my money and will get a different one and I hope anyone else will do the same.

Good Aesthetics BAD BAD BAD Functionality and Longevity

    • Written by from Sacramento

Good Design is a balance of aesthetics and functionality. This may look good but is very bad in regards to functionality and longevity. In a normal work environment this mouse will last a maximum of a year. The first thing to go is the scroll ball, simply starts to intermittently work then simply stop working either when you scroll down or scroll up. Its just plain horrible. Apple should have kept this part of the mouse simple and had time tested regular scroll wheel. Get Rid of the Scroll Ball APPLE!!!!

    Scroll ball FTL

    • Written by from Bernardston

This is the 3rd Mighty Mouse I've used which ultimately leads to hair pulling frustration due to the scroll ball becoming useless. Tried cleaning countless times, ways just to be even more frustrated. Also the 2 side buttons randomly click themselves, they're way too sensitive. It's a great design for a mouse, just poor execution. They REALLY need to figure out a way to make these not fail at an alarming rate.

    Short life expectancy

    • Written by from Las Vegas

I bought this mouse about a year ago. I spend most of my waking hours on the computer - thousands of clicks a day. Initially loved the trackball, but then it quit working after about eight months. Using a high-pressure air spray canister, I got the trackball working. Then the ability to click became harder and harder. The mouse required a minimum of two clicks, and as many as four or five just to activate what I was attempting to click. I didn't realize how bad it had gotten until I switched to a stock Apple mouse from another computer today.

I also experienced the jumping cursor that others have described. Very annoying when it activates the hot corners unintentionally.

Also, can't use it to click and drag emails to mailboxes. They open in a separate window almost every time. It usually takes three or four tries to just drag an email to a mailbox. Very annoying.

I wouldn't buy this one again.

    one word: Frustrating

    • Written by from Garden Grove

There are so many things wrong with this mouse. Unless you're getting it with your Mac purchase, stay away! I'll start with some mild positives. The scroll wheel idea is a good one and works well. Unfortunately like others have said there's no way to clean it out if it gets clogged. Luckily the scroll wheel is the least of my worries as far as this mouse goes.

There are a lot of negatives here. First of all it doesn't track well on my desk or on a mouse pad. I find my cursor frequently jumping around all over the screen for no reason. Sometimes it even jumps to the bottom right of my screen which triggers the screen saver. Brutal... Another problem is that the buttons sometimes want to click themselves it seems. It can be ultra sensitive or ultra unresponsive. Sometimes clicks just won't do anything and other times i'm just laying my hand on the mouse and it clicks. The side buttons are even more sensitive. I know this isn't a gaming mouse but this doesn't even serve as a bad substitute. I'm not talking about playing Call of Duty or anything, i'm referring to my experience playing Zuma!

Bottom line is this mouse is pretty awful and all should stay away. Look at getting a Logitech instead. I wish i could drag this mouse from my desktop and toss it in the recycle bin.

Scrolling Ball not so good after a few months

    • Written by from New York

At first, this was the greatest mouse.. BUT after a few months, the scrolling ball started to fail... it would scroll up but not down... I bought 1 more after throwing the first in the garbage...

The second and the final one I've got also went to the garbage after a few months of usage....

unfortunately, this is not a good product considering Apple's reputation of making everything state of the art.... well... not EVERYTHING....

    The worst mouse out there.

    • Written by from Ottawa

So, today i just received my first mighty mouse and lets just say this will be my LAST mighty mouse. I hooked up my mouse to the new keyboard which I bought as well (which I adore) only to start surfing the internet on my PC in which I have windows XP (part of the requirements for the mouse) only to find out after surfing the internet and taking my hand off the mouse the scroll button simultaneously started clicking on its own all the way back to the very first web page I visited all day. It got worse. I then tried to write this review using this mouse only to be sent 7 pages back to where I first started off, at my home page again! The cycle just kept happening over and over again. After having my mighty mouse for only 2 hours i wanted to throw it out a window. I have now hooked up my old mouse, and lets just say I have found a better appreciation for it than I have ever before lol. Please take these reviews seriously and save your money, cause I sure didn't and now I wish I did.

Forget gaming with macintosh, forget gaming with this mouse! The right click is "wishy washy" and you have to get it just right. Have had it for half of a semester and scroll wheel broke. Design is ridden with flaws. APPLE, TAKE THIS MOUSE OFF THE MARKET AND RETHINK WHAT YOUR CUSTOMERS MAY WANT, at the very least a little reliability!

    Could be better

    • Written by from WIllsboro

Not reliable in the least. Trackball mechanism constantly fails, cannot simultaneously right and left click. The outboard buttons are cumbersome to use. After two years of light use the USB cable fraying where it exits the mouse. I replaced my Mighty Mouse with the original Apple USB mouse.

Whatever you do, don't buy this!!!

    • Written by from New Orleans

I was given this as a gift about 6 months ago. About 3 months later, the function that occurs when you mash both the sides together (dashboard) would happen every time I barely touched the mouse. I had to disable that in order to get anything done. Shortly after that, the mouse started to confuse the left and right clicks. About a month ago the scrolling button stopped working. What a piece of junk this thing is. My friends have had the exact same problems. 1 had to disable the dashboard function within a month of buying. Don't buy, you are wasting your money.

Everyday office dirt and grime becomes Kryptonite

    • Written by from Reading

The rigors of the real world leave the Mighty Mouse wanting -- especially the scroll ball. Yes you can clean it and it may work fine (and maybe not), but I never had to clean the wheel of my old mouse, which I now use once again!
