    Don't buy this mouse!

    • Written by from Garrattsville

This is the most frustrating and infuriating piece of junk I've ever encountered. The stupid thing makes pages fly all over the place zooming in and out and sending out crazy commands and never doing what you want it to do. I work in Logic and Photoshop and need to do precise moves but it always misreads my slightest touch and sends all the pages on a zoom out and then back in and then out again... relentlessly. It does it at the most inopportune moments and basically freaks out constantly, upsetting any kind of flow I have and messing up important info I am trying to click. The sad part is, I bought this to have as a backup to my wireless mouse which constantly gets cut off from my bluetooth and won't reconnect. So, now when that happens, my back up is an even worse piece of garbage. Apple mouses are complete junk. I'm about to chuck them both out the window and try another brand. Sad they can't get their act together on these very basic products. And sadder still that others are doing such a better job.

Terrible - scrolls only one way

    • Written by from Hong Kong

Depending on the settings, it just scrolls up or down - NOT BOTH ! The left / right scroll works fine. Feel kind of cheated since you pay a premium for quality products from Apple.

    Scroll wheel never works properly

    • Written by from SHERMAN OAKS

Nice design, but i've had to replace the mouse 4 times over a two year period. Why? The scroll wheel stops working after a couple of months, due the the poor design of the small ball. I am a clean person, do not use food, or have dirty hands when using keyboard/mouse, yet even the smallest amount of natural accumulated dirt will render the scroll wheel inoperable.

    Beautiful but useless

    • Written by from Brooklyn

This mouse has a chronic problem of dirt clogging the scroll ball - there are plenty of reports on the Internet about this poor design problem. While Apple provides official cleaning instructions, they do not work well. Additionally, the mouse cannot be opened to clean without breaking it, since the body is glued together. As beautiful and elegant as it is, this mouse will become dysfunctional within a few months.

    Not worth the money

    • Written by from Gaucín

Have had one of those for about two years. Worked fine for a while, then the scrolling began to behave erratically (down was OK, up was not). Found some tips on how to clean it (using alcohol, white paper,...). That worked for a while, but eventually, I had to clean it every week or so. Recently, the right-click began to show signs of weakness as well, and today... well, the mouse simply stopped working altogether, with the thing getting confused between right-click, scrolling and left-click. Very disappointing from Apple, especially after I had to buy a new power adapter for a McBookAir not even 2 years old! I have an iMac, 2 McBook Air, 1 mini, one iPod, but seriously, I will think twice before buying Apple again next time.

    clean the button on mouse

    • Written by from Sierraville

I use isopropyl alcohol (basic first aid alcohol 70% solution) and a clean cloth that does not shed lint. Soak the cloth in the alcohol and work it into the button. Keep pressing and moving the button until the alcohol starts cleaning away the grease. This may take a while, but I have found that it's very effective at getting the button to move and scroll again.

    Super Slow Tracking

    • Written by from RALEIGH

I adjusted the tracking speed in system preferences to the fastest speed, and STILL this mouse requires about 4 square feet of physical desktop space to move the cursor an inch or two. I don't understand this.

Wont work on a standard surface (apple magic mouse and other mouses do), cord is ridiculously short and its pricey. Bad combination.

    Abysmal.

    • Written by from Newburyport

The tremendous two feet of cord provided would easily be enough to meet anyone's needs, unless they happen to own a recent Mac laptop. You see, in a stunning display of carelessness, Apple decided to place all USB ports on the left side of their laptops, giving the user about eight inches of usable cord. You can always run the cord under the laptop if you don't mind the inevitable wobble that will occur every time you try to actually use your computer. The scroll ball is an abomination. It's just an awful idea that has been poorly executed. The "touch sensitive shell" only recognizes right clicks when you deliberately take the time to think about where you will placing your fingers, and even then it doesn't always work. I don't even know where to start with unnecessary and, quite frankly, useless side buttons. Anytime I try to use them, I have to squeeze the mouse so hard that it registers as a left-click. Even now, I am now being forced to use a stack of paper as a mouse pad because even the slight discoloration of wood grain throws off the "precision optical sensor", which the website assures me does not require a mouse pad. Overall, a saddening amount of money, resources, time, and labor went into making this travesty.

I Can't Use the Apple Mouse

    • Written by from Delphos

I had to switch to a PC mouse because the Apple mouse has a fat rear that sticks up against the back of your hand. It applies pressure to the base of my thumb that makes it really sore. I really dislike the design of the Apple mouse. If you have small hands, you probably wouldn't like it, either.

    COMPLETELY WORTHLESS!!!!!

    • Written by

I bought a new Apple desktop computer a couple of months ago and found myself going back to the store because the scrolling button on the mouse stopped working. They tested it in the store and it started working again. So, I took it home and it worked for about a month. Now the scrolling ball will not scroll down. It never really scrolled horizontally!!! So, back to the Apple store I go with this WORTHLESS GARBAGE!!! I'm UPSET beyond words, but take some solace in knowing I'm not alone. Apple should take this junk off the market.

    Take it off the market!

    • Written by from Orrs Island

Judging by the echoes in these reviews of my own experience with this mouse I think it is time for Apple to admit they have a less-than-acceptable product here and should do a favor for all of us who prefer a wired mouse to the wireless and pull this one off the market and design and build a better mouse (trap, unnecessary).

    Smashed Mine Against A Wall

    • Written by from San Luis Obispo

this mouse is a total piece of garbage. The scroll ball inevitably gets gunked up and is not possible to clean. Unofficially, you can pry the mouse open and clean it, but you void your warranty and stand a good chance of destroying the mouse in the process.

Way to make me pay $75 for the "magic" mouse after wasting $55 on this one.
