    Okay, but not great

I got a mighty mouse with my new imac, looking at it out of the box it's very cool and appears to have cool features. Here are the ups and the downs -

    Ups
    - Looks great
    - matches other apple gear
    - scroll ball nice to use (though see below)

    Downs
    - Cord is way too short. It won't even reach across my desk, which is not all that wide. I've had to pull the imac in the be able to reach the mouse.
    - the scroll ball went screwy within my first week of using it.
    - way too sensitive - I ended up with it continuously clicking this morning over in a corner, and my hot corners appear suddenly if I even nudge the mouse slightly in the wrong direction

Overall, there are much better mice out there, I wouldn't buy this mouse and i'm getting a different mouse to use with my imac - one that the cord reaches all the way across my desk....

The scroll problem can be fixed!! but Im still not impressed!

I find this mouse unreliable in just 1 MONTH the scroll stopped working up and down.
I fixed it as good as new by rubbing the roller ball quite hard up and down and in a circular mothion for a good couple of minutes with a cloth and some cleaning fluid and its now working again. I do think the design is un reliable though! Ive had problems with the mouse getting stuck so I cant click and I find the spaces feature helpful but also irritating at the same time as it seems to go to spaces even when I havnt touched the sides.
Ive never owned a mac mouse that hasnt broke. This one came with my new mac but I have a feeling its not going to last long.

    Shoddy Cord Frays Easily

While in general I've liked this mouse, since I carry it back and forth to school in my backpack the cord has begun to fray where it meets the mouse. This is highly annoying and Apple should have known better because they had the same problem with flimsy cords on their laptop power adapters. Simply putting some stronger rubber around where the cord comes out would have solved this problem, but oh well Apple has to be stylish. I won't buy this mouse again.

I really wanted to like this mouse. Came with my new iMac along with the new silver flat keyboard (which is amazing) and I gave it a try. I probably used it longer then I would another mouse just because I liked the way it looked and wanted to to be for me. But alas, this mouse is not very user-friendly. The scroll wheel is nice in theory, but in reality it is too small and too sensitive. Having only a single click that registers which finger is being used and then appropriately respondes with a left or right click just doesn't work. Too often I have my right finger still slightly resting on the mouse and it doesn't register my left click, which gets really frusturating when working Excel.

    Garbage

I have been a Mac faithful for many years. I have recently purchased this mouse and I have to say that it is, without a doubt, the worst mouse I have ever used. The side buttons are too easily clicked while trying to right click is a lesson in futility. Even the simple left click sometimes takes more than one click to do the job. I do like the scroll button, though. The ability to scroll left and right without holding a key is very nice.

But, this mouse will be going back. There are better out there.

Apple trying too hard to be Innovative

I really hate this mouse. I strongly prefer the pro mouse that came before because it was quite simple to use. The left and right clicking needs to be enabled in system preferences, leaving new Mac users crying for left/right clicking off the bat. Sorry Apple, this mouse was a failure.

I love the design of the mouse, however, for first time mac users, it might be difficult to know that it actually has 2 buttons. Anyways... As I've read, a LOT of people (including myself!) have had problems with the scroll wheel. Mine broke. I got used to page down after a while. Then, I had another problem. I had to click 5 - 10 times, for the computer to register 1 click! I phoned up Apple about this, they made sure it wasn't my Mac problem, it wasn't, and then since I purchased AppleCare, I got a free replacement. However, if the replacement wasn't free, I wouldn't have bought another Mighty Mouse, until the next edition comes out.

I really want to like this mouse. I have two major gripes with this mouse. The scroll ball stops working for me only when scrolling down. I can clean it with an alcohol pad and it's ok for a few days, but it doesn't stay working for very long. Rumor has it that if you keep your hands clean, you won't have any problems! Good luck! The second problem for me is the side buttons. This is just not a good design for editing photos in Photoshop (at least for me.) By default these buttons activate Exposé. They are on the sensitive side so quite often when I am working on a picture I must lightly squeeze the buttons and the windows explode. The work around to this is to just turn the buttons off. The problem is, I do like them occasionally, just not in Photoshop! I guess the real solution for me is to get a Wacom tablet, but I would like a mouse that wasn't so much trouble!

    Mouse is pretty but ...

The design of the mouse precludes resting one's hand/wrist on it for support thus ones wrist and hand gets sore after a while. Right clicking to work, requires no pressure on the mouse itself other than for right click.

I think the ballistics could be improved as well. I am currently using MS Mouse 6000.

I would prefer to use Apples mouse but ...

    Disappointed

At first, I loved the mouse.
    Now, not so much.

    1) The cord has gotten stiff and always has twists in it. How it gets twisted, I have no idea as it remains on its mousepad.

    2) The left click works. Too well. As it also counts as a left click even if I use the right button. I have to click very far on the right, nearly at the underside to register as a right click.

    3) Scroll ball works for up and across, but down, not so much. Yes I have tried cleaning it via the methods described but they only work for a few minutes. Like now; just before I started writing this review I cleaned the scroll ball and already it has stopped being able to scroll down. I really hate having to always scroll down via the page markers on the right instead of using the mouse.

It's either time for a new mouse or prozac. :P

    Great mouse with huge flaws.

This is a great mouse in a lot of ways. The design is nice and the features are useful.

However, there are deal-breaker flaws that prevent me from using it at all.

The scroll ball constantly gets too dirty to be responsive enough. I have to clean it multiple times each day. This is insane. There's a reason we moved to optical mice over ball ones---mechanical parts get dirty and stop working.

Plus, the middle click function stopped working (not software, the hardware button isn't engaging properly).

And, the pressure side-buttons are in a terrible spot, and I can't leave any action enabled for this "button" without accidentally activating it every couple of seconds, just by holding the mouse.

All in all, if they could fix the problems, it'd be a good mouse, but as it stands it's unusable.

Scroll ball is destined to die on you quickly

This is a fantastically designed mouse. Potentially, this mouse operates like a dream. I purchased the magic mouse and got rid of it because my macpro had to be within 20 inches for it to work properly so I went back to this mouse. It worked for a short time until the ball got dirty. Then I had about a month of intermittent function. After that month the mouse was useless so I ponies up the $50 for another one. Now THIS ONE is going bad on me. I wouldn't be so upset it's just $50 is no joke! That's alot of money for a freaking mouse Apple. And I do not keep a dirty workplace. REGULAR wear gives this mouse a 1 year maximum shelf life. Terrible.

Just when we got rid of the ball

I really don't care if it looks like it has one button or not. I am just glad it works like it has 2 (actually 4). But they lose major benefit of optical mice by bringing back the ball. It gets dirty and stops scrolling within a couple months. Better yet, you can only fix it by taking it apart in a destructive manner and supergluing it together again! The trick with the monitor cleaning cloth does NOT work to clean the mouse. If vertical scrolling is not enough, use a joystick like pad on top instead of a ball (like the pointer think pads used to use).

    Mighty Mouse Has Poor Reliability

I love the flexibility of this mouse but the scroll wheel has failed over and over. I tried cleaning it and that works for a short time but now it has finally completely failed. Too bad because I really like this mouse but without the scroll feature, it's useless.

Got 2, both defective within 3 days of light use.

I got a wired mouse for Christmas to take the place of my wireless mouse. The wireless has worked flawlessly for 2 years, but chews up a lot of batteries which is why I wanted a corded one. The corded one worked great for a few days then became defective. The main problem is that when I’m using it to move the cursor or otherwise applying very light pressure to the top of the mouse it will activate the side buttons. The side buttons were set to show the desktop when activated. I deactivated the side buttons which made the error quit happening. So basically the side buttons are useless. The second problem, and what finally made me want to return it, is that the right click button gradually became more and more difficult to activate until it was nearly impossible to activate unless I pressed down on a certain small spot next to the scroll ball.

I returned it and got another one. The same thing happened to the second one. I got the first one from the Apple store and the second one from Best Buy in a different city, so I'm sure it wasn't just a bad batch. I think this mouse is a piece of junk by design. I'll keep returning the things until they fix the problem with the design.

Alcohol does help some when cleaning the mouse button.

My main complaint is that I use this with an Apple MacBook and it has to run behind or under the iLap to be usable. The cord is simply TOO SHORT !! Where the cord meets up with the mouse itself it is breaking and also where the cord meets up with the usb plug it is doing the same. Reason why? The cord is about 5-6 inches too short. This should be corrected with future designs for the Apple Mouse. Has anyone else not discovered this problem? It is huge. I would rather deal with an irritating mouse button than to have my mouse wire coming apart because of the bend just to get it to be usable due to the shortness of the cord.
