I agree about the scroll wheel issue so many have commented on. I just got mine back working (only 6 months old) by using compressed air. Hope it stays fixed. Last time I followed advice I found on-line and tried rolling the wheel back and forth vigorously. That did not work this time.

I wouldn't mind a longer cord either. Also, it is very finicky about the cut and paste right click location. You have to monkey around with it to find a mysterious sweet spot so that pop-up menu with cut and paste options shows.

It's true that when it comes to mice, Apple needs to hire some Logitech engineers. I loved my wireless Logitech mouse with my MacBook. Maybe I will go back to using that instead...

firstly, this mouse has a great design. i love how you can click anywhere on the top of the mouse and i love the the side buttons that you can click to show all your windows. the 360 degree scroll button is a nice design as well.

but, this mouse also has it's flaws. the scroll sometimes doesn't work. maybe about 50% of the time. i'm not sure why but if you roll the ball, it just doesn't scroll. also, sometimes it just goes wacky and the pointer on the screen moves by itself without the mouse moving. maybe the precision optical sensor on the bottom is over sensitive? but this can be really annoying and it makes it very frustrating.

i'm thinking of getting the new wireless mouse as soon as possible and hopefully it will be an improvement from this one.

I have the same problem with the mouse as everyone else. Whenever my ball stops scrolling I take a paper towel with a generous dab of hand sanitizer on it and roll the ball in the hand sanitizer until it starts working again. Sometimes it take a couple of tries but it works for me every time. I only rated it 3 stars because I'm getting sick of having to do it all the time.

I bought this mouse yesterday and when you click it is sometimes squeaky and the trackball gets pushed out of place sometimes. But overall its a decent mouse.

This would be a great mouse except that the scroll wheel gets gunked up easily. I read that you could clean it by flipping it over and rubbing the wheel on a piece of paper. That seems to work but it just broke the last time I did it. Now the buttons don't even work.

This mouse is too expensive to have a flaw like this.

It starts working fine with ease, simplicity & beauty as promoted, but that starts fading away after a while & there's nothing one can do about it. The most annoying problem is the scrolling. Maybe it's because we the Apple customers consider your products to be excellent or flawless, but I went ahead & bought the same mouse even when the first one failed, yet the same happened again. I need a third mouse at this moment.

I like the function of this mouse and it seems to work for me but the real problem is the scroll ball. It gets gunked up and quits working. It is a hassle when it does not work so i disassembled the mouse and cleaned the sensors and now it works great! Just like new! All that you must do is pop off the white piece of plastic around the bottom of the mouse and then pop out the guts. It took like 15 minutes. The only problem is that when you pop off the bottom, it breaks the glue seal so you have to reglue the bottom back on. I also assume that this type of activity probably voids the warranty but it is worth it because it works great afterwards!

While the mouse is aesthetically pleasing and functionally neat, it does cause me a lot of stress. Ever month the scroll ball will stop working and I start wondering if I'll have to replace it.. then after 15 minutes of vigorous attempts at cleaning it starts working again. I have had the product for less than 9 months and I'm not sure how long I can keep dodging the bullet. So buy with caution.

I like it and yet the scroll ball needs constant cleaning to keep working. See Apple's support site for their advice which is just water and a cloth.

The side buttons are a bit flakey. They've spazzed out on me a few times where they 'click' by themselves fairly rapidly.

It's neat how you right click by just pressing the right side of the mouse and yet it's not as reliable as just having a dedicated right mouse button. Sometimes you'll find a finger barely touching the left side of the mouse for instance and a right click won't register. Doesn't happen alot, but enough to annoy.

The short cord is nice for plugging the mouse into your keyboard.

Left clicking is what I like about the mouse the most. It just has a great feel to it and you can use all your fingers. It's why I still use the thing.

A redesign should make the scroll ball require less cleaning. It should better sense when you are right clicking even if your index finger remains touching the left side a bit (if possible.) And the side buttons should be easier to click.
