Worst designed mouse I've encountered. The trackball sticks and after a while only works in one direction. The trackball design prevents cleaning and the work arounds such as rubbing on white printer paper etc only gives temporary relief. I am back to using my old Dell mouse which while not as ergonomically pleasing does work as required.

I bought a new iMac and stupidly decided to get the "Magic" Mouse. Go read the reviews for that...I should have. That mouse is complete garbage. I had to swap the wired keyboard and wired mouse from my mini to the new iMac (the wireless keyboard is fine, I guess, if you like the layout which matches the laptops).

As far as this mouse goes, I like it just fine. After a few years the ball got gummed up and I had to take it apart to clean it, but no big deal for me. I would get another one.

I have been using this mouse for almost 7 years and I have LOVED it. Yes, the little scroll ball does get sticky from time to time, but a good cleaning with alcohol and a q-tip works wonders. I've owned 2 Mighty Mouse(s?) and loved those even better because they were wireless. One quit working after several years and the other broke in pieces when it was dropped on a hard floor. Apple replaced these with the Magic Mouse, which is more awkward, too thin and doesn't have the two buttons on the side, which I programmed for Expose. I wish Apple would bring back the WIRELESS Mighty Mouse, I really miss that one!! Guess I'll have to use a hardwired one or get a Magic Mouse...not that magical. :(

This mouse looks slick, I'll give it that. And the scroll nub is pretty nice.

What's terrible is the clicking of the buttons. Without a clear left or right demarcation, the functionality is abysmal. Clicking is always imprecise with this thing. Left clicks are hard to achieve, and right clicks are impossible.

Lastly, the cord is far too short.

This is the most frustrating and infuriating piece of junk I've ever encountered. The stupid thing makes pages fly all over the place zooming in and out and sending out crazy commands and never doing what you want it to do. I work in Logic and Photoshop and need to do precise moves but it always misreads my slightest touch and sends all the pages on a zoom out and then back in and then out again... relentlessly. It does it at the most inopportune moments and basically freaks out constantly, upsetting any kind of flow I have and messing up important info I am trying to click. The sad part is, I bought this to have as a backup to my wireless mouse which constantly gets cut off from my bluetooth and won't reconnect. So, now when that happens, my back up is an even worse piece of garbage. Apple mouses are complete junk. I'm about to chuck them both out the window and try another brand. Sad they can't get their act together on these very basic products. And sadder still that others are doing such a better job.

Depending on the settings, it just scrolls up or down - NOT BOTH ! The left / right scroll works fine. Feel kind of cheated since you pay a premium for quality products from Apple.

Why would you design the mouse with such a short cable when you've also designed the previous Macbook Pro with all the usb ports on the left hand side? really apple, that's your definition of a great design?

Nice design, but i've had to replace the mouse 4 times over a two year period. Why? The scroll wheel stops working after a couple of months, due the the poor design of the small ball. I am a clean person, do not use food, or have dirty hands when using keyboard/mouse, yet even the smallest amount of natural accumulated dirt will render the scroll wheel inoperable.

This mouse has a chronic problem of dirt clogging the scroll ball - there are plenty of reports on the Internet about this poor design problem. While Apple provides official cleaning instructions, they do not work well. Additionally, the mouse cannot be opened to clean without breaking it, since the body is glued together. As beautiful and elegant as it is, this mouse will become dysfunctional within a few months.

My roll ball has not worked for months. I was frustrated and was gonna buy a Logitech since this is my third Mac mouse that has developed the same problem. I use a slightly damp Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Many rolls of the ball on the magic eraser with slight down pressure on the ball and it started to work. I then rolled it vigorously on a clean piece of paper, then the eraser then the paper again. It now once again works like new.

I love the mouse when it works and hate it when it doesn't, so I gave it a pretty low rating, but maybe you can fix yours as well and the rating might increase.
