Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad 2.0

    • Written by from BARRIGADA

Very comfortable keyboard. And this - the only option for people who work with numbers. For example, in accounting or communications. What I expect from Apple?
First, the new interface USB 3.0.
Second, backlit (!) keyboard with numeric keypad like Macbook keyboard.

    It's alright

    • Written by from la mirada

Okay, I'll admit, the keyboard looks nice, but if anyone is planning on using this keyboard for typing keyboards then do not get this. I would recommend going with a mechanical keyboard instead since they give you a nice satisfying tactile feel whenever you press down a key.

    Useless--Unreliable

    • Written by from 中頭郡中城村

I've had two of these keyboards fail so far this year. The second one lasted less that six months. I bought a mini with a fusion drive, so everything is open on my desktop in seconds, but then I spend two or three minutes trying to get this stupid keyboard to work. The latest problem is in the USB connector. It is cheap and flimsy and does't fit tightly. I was initially able to shift to different slots to finally get one to work, but today none of them worked. Fortunately, I had a wireless keyboard available and already set up. When the previous one failed, I couldn't log into my computer to set up the wireless keyboard, so I ended up borrowing a Windows keyboard from a colleague. I later found by testing the key function with a word processing program that some keys were producing two different characters with each keystroke. Complete junk. I bought this because I want the number pad and had had trouble on a regular basis with my wireless keyboards being able to connect on startup. I've been solely a Mac user for more than 20 years. I love the computers, but the peripherals are just increasingly bad.

    My Most Favorite Keyboard--EVER!!

    • Written by from Kansas City

I loved this keyboard from the first touch. I have typed professionally doing medical transcription since 1975. I love the touch. It is extremely quiet. I have long gel fingernails and I have not scratched or dented these keys. I have literally worn off the letters on many other keyboards. I will never use anything but this one! It is clean and sleek, and hands down the best I have ever used.

    Not reliable

    • Written by from San Diego

I have had 3 keyboard failures. All less than 2 yrs old, one less than one year. I've got a MS keyboard that's 15 years old and still works perfectly. For 50 bucks, I expected a lot more reliability. And no, they haven't been abused or drenched or anything beyond typing and the occasional wipe clean.

Apple wireless keyboard only 2 years old but failed

    • Written by from Newbury

Our keyboard failed today-the "m, backspace, space bar and shift" keys all stopped working and the keyboard is only 2 years old. Is it worth the money?

Going wrong after less than a month

    • Written by from Whitehouse

Keyboard feels solid with nice low profile keys. Two USB connectors on the underside. BUT, I've had this keyboard just under a month, and the 7,8,9, and - keys on the keypad are no longer working.
Between this and my MBP, I'm having serious concerns about Apple quality control. Going to opt for returning this one rather than replacing it.

    Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad

    • Written by from PORT COLBORNE

I bought this keyboard in early january of this year along with a monitor and mouse for my macbook pro. I opted into the wired model because I didn't need the range of the wireless one, and the number pad at the side is a nice addition for a student. I was skeptical as to weather or not I was going to like the keyboard, and it turned out to be an incredible investment. In my experience, the keys have just enough resistance to give a solid, undeniable "click" when pressed, but not so much as to make typing a chore. The inclusion of the OSX keys nested along with the function keys along the top is an invaluable feature in my opinion. I do have a few complaints however; first off, the key board is not backlit, which while it would be a nice feature, can be compensated for by turning a light on. Second, the builtin USB ports haven't had enough juice to operate anything I own, besides my iPod shuffle. Finally, the keys (being the white matte plastic) get dirty, I have never eaten at the keyboard, and all the keys are getting to the point where they wont come completely clean anymore. All in all, however, it is a nice keyboard

    What a miserable piece!

    • Written by from los angeles

On my former PC, I had a Logitech keyboard that outlasted 2 computers -- six years! this miserable keyboard died after 9 months. NEVER wet or abused.

I could not get into my iMac after restarting! Why? regardless of the state of the caps lock key, it was feeding ALL CAPS -- all the time. Whichg does NOT work with my all lower case master password.

    So I was DOWN!

    get something -- anything else!!

    Pourous Material attracts dirt...

    • Written by from Idyllwild

I recently had to replace my apple numeric wired keyboard due to my space bar being bad. It's OK though...it lasted a good long time. My new keyboard has a different material that the keys are made out of. It's kind of gritty or porous and it gets dirty really fast. I have to clean it every couple days. The good news is I read somewhere the best way to clean a keyboard was with a "magic eraser" and it's true...it works great. But the keyboard still gets really dirty way too fast. I hope Apple will consider going back to the glossy material they used to use.

    Unbelievable

    • Written by from Portland

I cannot believe that this Apple keyboard gets a five-star rating. I have to order my THIRD keyboard today because they keep crapping out on me. One key goes out and I'm told, "Nope, can't fix it." Wow. They seem to be very cheaply built so it's no wonder they don't last. I think this last one may have lasted 2 years, maybe a little more. Yuk.

    No BACKLIT >_<

    • Written by from Manhattan

Could've rated 5 stars, but minus 1 star for no LED backlit, 1 more for the price (as for every other Apple accessory) =='' On the good side, i gave 3 stars for the thinness/design (still the best keyboard by far), usability (num keys for gaming + usb ports for charging my iPhone and gaming controllers), and compatibility (PC, even PS4)

Make a backlit iMac keyboard please!!!

    • Written by from Rockledge

I have both the new iMac keyboard and the wireless keyboard. Both are superb quality, but I have to wish that Apple had made the wired version backlit like the Mac laptops. My wife's new Mac Pro Air is terrific, and the keyboard is so much nicer to use in dimmed lighting (such as you might use when gaming on your iMac.) Please take this as a suggestion, and not as a complaint--this is the best keyboard I've had in thirty years.

    Good but I wanted a black-key version

    • Written by from Campina Grande

I wonder if Apple would launch a black-keys version of this awesome keyboard... One thing I don't like on the one with white keys is that the keys eventually get dirty. I have a Macbook Pro Retina and its black keys are just what I would like in a keyboard. Please Apple, give us a black-keys keyboard!

    Fantastic Keyboard

    • Written by from Fort Erie

I have used a lot of keyboards, and I have to say this is by far the best and most comfortable keyboard that I've ever used. the only way I could see Apple improve it is by making it backlit like their MacBook Keyboards. Great job Apple.

Just had my second one of these die 12 months and one week after purchase

    • Written by from Clontarf

I've bought two of these. The keyboard looks great but we just had the second one die. Still looks new but has stopped working. Very annoying, particularly as I bought the wired one so I wouldn't have a hassle with batteries running out. The batteries in the wireless probably would have lasted longer than this keyboard.
Will now check legal rights and see if Apple will replace or repair.

Our 2nd Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad

    • Written by from Toronto

This is an excellent keyboard. Its designed really well, built to last. We have 2 of these keyboards, and use them with our Mac Mini's. The keyboard is compact, and has to USB ports at the bottom. They don't take up much space and the keys feel great.
    Love them!

    Keep a good keyboard around

    • Written by from SIDNEY

This lasted almost 3 years. I have an old keyboard from the G5 that still works fine. Granted it does not look as good, but still works; which is more than I can say for the new one. If the new one would have lasted three years I would have given it three stars.

    Low durability

    • Written by from Somerville

Owned this keyboard for three years without issue, until recently when I had my first accident. It's a great keyboard, but never in my life have I had so much trouble keeping a keyboard clean. This keyboard is impossible to clean without destroying it. Keyboards are supposed to be able to handle abuse of all kinds, from crumbs, sticky fingers, and the occasional coffee spill. Don't get me wrong, I love this keyboard, but I was very unhappy that after three years, I accidentally spilled a bit of coffee onto the edge, and the keyboard was permanently broken. All cleaning efforts failed tremendously.

At this point, I would upgrade to the Bluetooth keyboard, but it's lack of a numeric pad is a deal-breaker.

in the end, this is great keyboard that looks nice and fits the aesthetic of the Mac line. Just don't dare ever have an accident with a nearby drink.
