There is no point to repeat what many have noted what a beautiful piece of work this is, and how light and small it is in foot print. However, in order to reduce its overall profile, the keyboard is nearly flat on the desk and this forces you to raise your wrist during typing. Thus it is more tiring to type on this than on the older design. I need to put a stack of cards under the keyboard to raise it. This is one good example of forms over-take functions in the design.

This is the best keyboard I've ever used over the last 25 years. It did require a little adjustment, but, once adjusted, I'm not going back to the old big key style. One thing Apple: please please please make a usb small version (like the bluetooth model). I use the bluetooth model at home ... and love the small form factor. But, bluetooth is not permitted at work, so i have to use the large one.

I'd give five stars for a small form factor usb model.

I was forced to get a new one when my other Apple Keyboard (white iMac ca. 2006) unexpectedly stopped working. The buttons from the "tab" key straight down and to the space bar simply didn't work anymore.

I tried everything then made an appointment with a Mac Genius at the Apple Store. He tested it and said it was broken. Mind you, I'd never spilled anything on it, my cat didn't have an accident on it, it never slid off the desk onto a bed of nails. It was simply used for...keyboarding! Less than two years? I thought Apple was all about quality.

So I resigned myself to the fact that this one was kaput. Then, get this, the Mac Genius said I could get a replacement ordered for $69. Hold on there big fella, the redesigned newer one is $49. I informed/reminded him of this and he said, "Yeah."

Anyway, the new one is quiet, easier to push each key (more shallow), and sleek. Two issues: (1) the USB ports are on the side making it function wider than the physical width of the platform (the old one had the USB ports next to the front-center where the out-going cord is; makes sense that way) and making it a tighter squeeze on the sliding drawer that houses my keyboard and (2) will this one break in less than two years? Email me in December '09.

I couldn't be happier about the style and performance of my new Apple Keyboard. It is sleek, easy to use, has 19 function keys, everything that I want from my keyboard, with one exception. It comes equipped with 2 USB ports (adding one overall because it uses up one), but the USB ports don't have enough power to support an iPod or my iPhone. I suppose this is not a huge problem, just my one complaint. The keyboard is a great investment. I am extremely happy with my purchase.

I love this keyboard! It makes typing so much easier than the original Apple keyboard that came with my iMac, which had such sticky keys that my hands ached after only a few minutes of having to pound on the keys.

This one is responsive to my light touch, but seems durable enough to stand up to a harder typist. I haven't had any problems with the flat keys, though I know my husband is still adapting to them on his new MacBook.

Lovely, easy, quiet. Finally, my fingers can keep up with my thoughts.

I am not a power user--I pretty much just type, and have never need the function keys or the capability to program. So I cannot comment on those higher-end features.

This is the best keyboard Apple has ever produced. The Pro keyboard from a few years ago was OK, and everything else has been incredibly difficult to type on. There is just one thing that annoys me - the USB power limit. I have a flash drive that gives me a low power notice when I plug it into one of the USB ports. However, I can use both the keyboard and the flash drive when I plug them both into an unpowered USB hub, and apparently this keyboard can deliver the power when connected to an aluminum iMac, so I don't understand where the disconnect is. Other than that, it's a superb keyboard.

The keyboard is nicely engineered slim and heavy weight sturdy.
The keys seem to get dirty easy on the left & is hard to clean if you would have put a finish on it, wouldn't get dirty so easy over all its been good over the few months, but I hear that the keys tend to break but that is if you mistreat it. SO overall I give it a 4/5.

This is, yet another, fantastic product from Apple. The wired keyboard is fast, silent, accurate, and a pleasure to use. While I was in Germany for five months I used, and got used to the keyboard from my MacBook, and when I returned home to my Windows based PC (Which I am very displeased now that I used the Mac OS for Five Moths) the Keyboard was just not doing the trick, so I took the next logical step and purchased this fine example of a Human Interface Device. My one complaint, and the reason the Keyboard only got four stars, It is not backlit. So in conclusion, if you are used to, or like the keyboards from your or other MacBooks, I highly recommend this keyboard, and if you are bugged by backlights, then this keyboard should be perfect for you.

I love the feel of this keyboard and don't regret buying it.

But... none of the boot shortcuts work, so I can't boot with the install DVD or in Firewire Target Disk mode.

I've done some reading on various forums and this seems to be a problem with many Macs that did not come with this keyboard as original equipment.

I'm using an Intel core duo iMac, the first model of Intel iMacs.
