I'm loving this keyboard much more than the wireless one, which I also own. I especially like the additional navigation keys and numeric key pad which is a great advantage if you type numbers frequently, like I do. I also find the two USB ports on the keyboard extremely useful. It allows me to attached my portable scanner and other items right on the keyboard. Highly recommend.

In early 2010 I bought a new iMac to replace my old G5. I had bought the G5 with the extended keyboard. The iMac came with the smaller, wireless keyboard. I really missed the numeric keypad, especially with spreadsheets.

Two things happened recently. I had wireless problems (solved, but requiring the temporary use of a wired keyboard and mouse) and I bought an iPad. I figured that if I bought a wired keyboard, the wireless one could be used with the iPad and the wired one could stay with the iMac (and I would still have the wireless one if preferred). Plus, I would have a wired keyboard (and I also bought the Apple wired Mouse) as a backup in case of future wireless problems.

Well, I was very pleased to find that not only could I buy a reasonably priced wired Apple keyboard, but it had the numeric keypad, too! Perfect. Should have bought it months ago.

It may look simple but it works. I love this keyboard. The keys respond super fast and at the lightest touch, making it easy to type fast. It's sleek, compact and looks great. It also has two usb connectors on the sides and for some people this may be convenient. This is truly the best thing that has happened to me in hardware since my 2009 MacBook Pro

Apple hardware is sexy. We're all aware. This keyboard is no different. Very thin, lightweight, in a shiny silver aluminum shell. The USB ports on both sides are a very nice touch, since Apple put form over function with my 24" iMac, putting the USB ports on the back where they are not easily accessible. The thin, modern key design is pleasant and a nice change from the standard chunky keys that have been around since before disco.

Enough flattery. When I purchased my iMac in 2008, I opted for the bluetooth wireless keyboard and mouse. Aside from the fact that the keyboard had no numerical pad and the mouse is a stupid one button design, I was very happy with their function and form. That was up until a few days ago. My wireless keyboard wasn't working. I assumed the batteries had died, so I charged them all day while I was at work. When I got home, I put in the fresh batteries. To my surprise, the keyboard still wasn't working. Apparently it was only good for 3 years worth of use. Very disappointing. It wouldn't hurt to mention that it was never dropped nor had any liquids spilled on it.

I made the logical decisions to save myself $20 and buy a new wired keyboard this time around. Paying less and getting the numeric pad made a lot more sense to me since I don't NEED wireless. I plugged in the new keyboard, updated the software, and and was faced with yet another keyboard related challenge. NONE OF THE FUNCTION KEYS WORK!!! I had no idea that I needed Mac OS X 10.7 or later, according to the owner's manual that came with the keyboard. So now I'm expected to spend another $30 to upgrade my operating system? What a friggin' rip off. This brings "built-in obsolescence" to a whole new maddening level. Now I have a prematurely dead wireless keyboard and a brand-new one that I can't use to adjust my screen brightness, volume, or use its audio/video player controls. Not a happy customer! It's not like I could buy an older model keyboard that would be compatible with my 10.5 OS. They don't sell them anymore.

I love this keyboard. The size and spacing of the keys fits my hands just right. I don't make a lot of typing mistakes.

My only real complaint is this, I wish the keyboard would light up!!! I use it plugged into my MacBook Pro as my computer sits on a raised platform on my desk. I mean, if it can be done for a laptop keyboard, why can't they have the external keyboard also have back-lit capability? Kinda surprised that Apple hasn't jumped on this.

When I spilled coffee on my original Apple wireless keyword I suffered for a few days with a generic keyboard someone had passed on to me. It was so noisy and clunky. It is with pleasure I write this review on my new quiet and elegant Apple keyboard.

One suggestion- I hope Apple brings back a wireless with a numeric keypad.

I have a wire, but along with that comes two (2) extra USB Ports up close and easy to use. Also, a numeric keypad to make my life much easier when entering numbers. No batteries to change and recharge. That's good for me. As well as no bluetooth dropping problems I had with the wireless one.

The keys in the seamless housing are so smooth to type. What an improvement over the older plastic models! So much easier to keep clean. This was a great choice.

I have never owned a Mac but after typing on one at my school's resource center, the keyboard sold me! I have always been a keyboard person and this keyboard is magnificent. It is even better than my old IBM click keyboard and I didn't think that was possible.

By the way, I am loving my new iMac with this keyboard. Looking forward to a wireless version.

I have been using Apple keyboards for almost 20 years. This is the best, by far. Smooth, fluid and simple, effortless keystrokes at a twitch of the finger, BUT...the decision to make the "extended" keyboard, only in a wired option really stinks. I would really like to see a wireless extended keyboard.
