    Ways to modify the keyboard

    • Written by from Berkeley

Very nice keyboard much of the time--I like the shorter key travel, which saves impact wear on one's fingers--but for me, it seems the amount of force needed to actuate the keys varies throughout the day, as if the rubber cups under the keytops are sometimes softer, sometimes harder. But this doesn't seem to follow room temperature variations.

For the reviewer wishing the keyboard sat flat, with no slope: you can install a couple rubber feet under the two front corners.

For the reviewer who finds the spacebar doesn't actuate reliably (as mine doesn't): I’ve had success by making the spacebar thicker, by glueing a thin white strip of plastic, about a half-millimeter thick, to the top of the spacebar, the same size as the top of the spacebar. I used a glue stick so it can be removed if I want. I also rounded the front edge of the plastic strip using a file, so it wouldn't poke my thumb as much. In using this modified spacebar, I haven’t missed one spacebar hit yet. Adding another half-millimeter strip might be the thing to do if this modification starts losing the occasional spacebar keypress.

    Just OK

    • Written by from Hilliard

The feel takes some getting used to but it seems like I can type a bit faster since I don't have to push the keys as hard. I don't like the F10,F11,F12 keys also being the volume keys. In order to use the function keys, you have to use a "fn" key that acts like a "Shift" key. You can change that in the preferences and have the volume keys used with the "fn" key. As with other reviews, the USB dock is useless with my flash drive. However, you could get a USB extention that will work nicely. My daughter started using it and now wants one for Christmas. I think I'll keep mine and buy her her own.

Best keyboard I have ever had except if you have big hands.

    • Written by

Not to sound picky or anything but be warned this key board is very thin and if you have big hands just as I do, your hands get tired of slouching over the keyboard. Other than that this keyboard is great.

    Best keyboard I've used

    • Written by from Cambridge

I can't give it 5 stars because it's not completely flat. That would be ideal. But realistically, you need to put the circuitry somewhere, so I understand why there's a small angle to this thing.

It's worth the money. My wrists rest on my desk as I type. Keys feel good. Typing is easy on this thing. I'm positive that I'm reducing hand strain. And it's small & minimalist, leaving out any stupidity and preserving everything you need. Takes up a minimum space on my desk. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

    Great keyboard.

    • Written by from Vancouver

I upgraded from a little microsoft wireless comfort curve keyboard. I currently use the keyboard as my main keyboard on my Windows Vista Ultimate (64bit) machine and it works flawlessly. It was very easy to remap the F13-F19 keys to do whatever I wanted them to do. The only keys that do not work in windows are the eject key along with the FN toggle. To be honest I was expecting the transition to be ok with a minimal impact on my typing speed, however the transition was almost instant and I could swear that I type 10-20wpm faster. The CAPS LOCK key is fantastic no more accidental presses since I switched keyboards.
My only issue with the keyboard was the absence of windows drivers and software to get the full potential of this keyboard. I fully understand that it is intended to be a Mac keyboard, but windows drivers and software should have been provided. They're missing out on a large chunk of customers who will not try the keyboard as it states that it only works in OSX.

    A new design and layout.

    • Written by from Spring

It's beautiful, but there should be an ergonomic version. If Apple had an ergonomic version, the keyboards might sell more because there are more comfort options. Then there is the two USB ports on the sides of the keyboard. They really come in handy when you want to keep clutter off your desktop. The only thing is they don't produce enough power. So when you are trying to charge your iPod, it won't work because there isn't enough power being produced. The only thing you can plug in there is Apple's Mighty Mouse or something that doesn't have to be charged when plugged in. If those issues where fixed, (those are the only two) there wouldn't be so many bad reviews. I hope you guys read this. It could be the next step up for the Apple Keyboard.

    Nice Keyboard

    • Written by from Madison Heights

I bought this keyboard so I could have a full-size keyboard to use for my Vista Laptop. That being said, it's money well spent. It has a nice, heavy, quality feel to it, and it doesn't slide around. The keys are responsive, and the USB ports on the side let me plug in my mouse without tying up the other USB ports on my laptop. That being said, the only downside to this keyboard is the lack of support for Windows Vista. An official driver that gave me access to the fn and eject keys would have been nice. All in all, I would recommend this keyboard to others.

    Love & Dislike relationship

    • Written by from Oxford

I love the look and feel of the new apple keyboard. But i don't like what was done with the remapping of the F7 - f12 keys.
i like the f16-19 keys as audio and expose and now spaces in the f8-12 area
i know its cohesive with the wireless layout but an unwelcome change in my book. I know i can remap them back but .... Maybe someone will sell replacement keys of NICE stickers.. maybe i should make them....

    Very sevlt!

    • Written by from Nashville

All things considered, this is a great keyboard. I use it mainly for common applications, so my view may not be terribly wide. I have only one complaint, however. This may be my own typing style or touch, but at least 2-3 time in a paragraph, it misses the space bar signal, despite my contacting it, and I get joinedwords.....aggravating!

    Almost Love the Design

I almost will give this a 5. However, WHY did you take off the Apple on the Command Key? That is a staple. Can we get an Apple icon sticker to put on it? That would give it a 5 in my book.

    Ergonomic?

I like my new keyboard, but I'm wondering what effect this has on ergonomics and the future health of my wrists - anyone else have any worries?

    Solid product, minor faults

    • Written by from West Covina

Excellent keyboard, almost identical in keyboard response as the keyboard on the Macbook. This keyboard is excellent for those that prefer a scissor-type response (laptop equivalent keyboard mechanism). The two problems of this keyboard: deep USB ports, hard to access unless you lift the keyboard up; keyboard rubber padding is not enough to prevent the keyboard from sliding around but does not happen if used properly. This keyboard would be perfectly priced at 10$ less.

    Ergonomics

    • Written by from Longueuil

I liked the keyboard fine, but after a few weeks began having trouble with my right shoulder. I think the reason is that this keyboard is longer than my old one and I have to stretch my arm out to the side to move the mouse. If you are concerned about ergonomics, this is something to take into consideration.

    Great feel... but gets dirty!

    • Written by from Philadelphia

I love the feel of this new keyboard! I am a total gamer and i would recommend this to anyone looking for a great feel while gaming. BUT I think that the white keys get dirty too fast. I have had mine for about 2 months now and i have to clean it at least once a week so I don't look homeless... but other than that i love it!

    Apple Keyboard

    • Written by from Markham

Aesthetically exceptional! Finished in high quality, handsome materials incorporating smooth rounded corners. Feel good, responsive keys.Operational quietness pleasing-space bar the only 'key' emitting any sound. Special function keys are helpful as Apple has chosen appropriate items to highlight. I would have accorded 5 stars, however, as reported in another post, the 'caps lock' key is a wee bit dysfunctional.....yes, I know, aren't we all!!!

This kb, simply put, is just another thing that makes me remember why I fell in luvvv with APPLE in the first place!!! APPLE ROCKS-yes, indeed-ROCK ON!!

    Nice Keyboard

    • Written by from Alpharetta

I just got this new keyboard to work with my MacBook and monitor. When I got the box and it said "made in China", I was a bit worried. I kinda vowed not to buy stuff made in China since I have not been impressed. However, this keyboard has been great. It feels well built, looks nice and if you can type.. you can fly on this keyboard.

USB2 port no good for memory stick

    • Written by from Beacon Hill

Beautifully designed keyboard and a delight to use but... I bought it expecting that because it was USB2 (my old Apple keyboard was USB1) I could plug my memory stick into it. No such luck - I received a low poor warning.
