    Fantastic but needs wireless

    • Written by from Kalaheo

I've bought about 3-4 of these keyboards over the years because I like them so much. Great quality, easy to clean, look sharp, and have all the key functions I want and the current wireless keyboard lacks. Unfortunately, I see no reason why Apple shouldn't have already released a wireless version of this keyboard while keeping the existing layout and features including the extra USB ports (if possible). For that reason, I'll rate it 4/5 stars. Hopefully Apple will listen.

Best keyboard from Apple so far!

    • Written by from Gateshead

This keyboard is the best keyboard I got from Apple for my mac. I got both mini wired and wireless keyboards but this one with numeric keypad and all extra function keys made my life a lot easier as a programmer. Typing on this keyboard feels great and having 2 USB ports (1 each side) like wired mini keyboard is a very nice touch and very practical too. It would be a dream come true if Apple made a wireless version of this keyboard. So if you are a programmer or some one who types a lot, give this keyboard a try, I promise you gonna love it. The combination of this keyboard and magic mouse is just great. It makes you feel you are in programmers heaven. :)

    Died within a year

    • Written by from brooklyn

It's a nice looking and feeling keyboard but this was my second one in 3yrs. Keys just stopped working. the caps/shift keys are slow to respond which makes it hard to type just about anything. Can't open it to clean/repair since it's glued and doesn't have screws. I like the general feel but the other things are a big bummer. For $50 I don't want to have to buy a new one every year!

Perfect in a universe where liquid doesn't exist.

    • Written by from Louisville

This keyboard feels great, I love it, but my third one just died as a result of coming into contact with literally (really, literally) a single drop of water. The previous two suffered a similar fate, however after being sure that it was such a small amount (a drop of condensation from a can!). I'm not buying another. I have two older Macally IceKeys. In my frustration, I got one of them out and, using a pipette, put 5 mL of water, which is more than it sounds, right into the center of it. I'm typing on it now. It's not as pretty and doesn't feel as nice, but I'm typing on it. I can solve this difficult engineering problem for you, Apple. It'll cost a fraction of a penny on your 50 dollar keyboard. Hire me. If you have one of these, be extremely careful. Use in a room with at least 12 inches of desiccant covering all surfaces. Keep keyboard covered with the plastic from your grandma's sofa.

    Great Keyboard, but Lacking Durability

    • Written by from Bloomington

I really like this keyboard and enjoy using it more than other keyboards I've tried, but I got one drop of a drink under the space bar, and cleaning it with a tiny amount of rubbing alcohol damaged it to the point it is non-operational. I plan to buy another one, but it could be more durable to withstand such a tiny amount of moisture.

    Best Keyboard Ever

    • Written by from Vancouver

I asked the Apple store to substitute this one for the smaller wireless on the 27" iMac and they wouldn't do it at first. After asking to speak to a manager they actually included this keyboard and the wireless one for free!

I have used a lot of different keyboards in my life and for some reason I can type faster and more accurate on this one. I have also found that it doesn't slide all over your desk as you type which has always been annoying with others I have used in the past.

I had to get a new keyboard because I dumped a glass of water on the old one. If I would have known how much I was going to like the new one, I would have dumped water on the old one a long time ago!

    Great keyboard!

This keyboard is amazing...every key you need is here...unlike on the wireless keyboard. Also, this wired keyboard has larger arrow keys, a number pad, and NEVER runs out of power ( no batteries! ).

    Not a great solution

    • Written by from Melbourne

I purchased the wired keyboard for the MAC with the ten key pad. I needed this specifically for Quickbooks and Excel that I use in the Windows environment through VMware Fusion. My problem is the ten key pad does not work when I am in VMware Fusion. That is serious enough to send me back to a PC because that is where I do my work. While I love the MAC, I use it for personal and fun. I am beginning to understand why accounting and financial people strongly advised I not make the switch from the PC to the MAC.

    A Suggestion for Apple

    • Written by from Noblesville

The keys are very responsive and I prefer it over my old and huge Microsoft keyboard I used with my MacBook. It is slim and even though it is wired is portable to fit in a backpack. The only suggestion I have to Apple is to completely eliminate the USB cable like they have done with the smaller one. That way I can free up an extra USB slot on my MacBook (there are only two). If you plan on doing mostly desk work, this is the keyboard for you. Not only will it save you $20.00, but it also has the numeric pad. Do not hesitate buying a wired keyboard in anticipation for this one to be updated as BlueTooth because Apple wants to sell the smaller one at the same time. I know this is the simple accessory everyone quietly hopes for!!!

I cant imagine my normal day without the keypad the right and other keys that the wireless version miss. Please, never take this keyboard off from the store. I wouldnt imagine myself using mac without this keyboard.

I miss my old mac keyboard

    • Written by

This keyboard is slim and elegant. I like the texture of the keys but not the tactile feel. After more than a year, i still have much more typos and have developed wrist pain. I wish my old trusty mac keyboard hadn't broken it was the most comfortable keyboard i've ever used.

This rubbish isn't the slightest big ergonomic and a lot of people i know hate it. I wish apple would just swallow their pride and add one similar to the old one to the lineup. The Logitech Wave is better but not as good as my old white mac keyboard and i hear great things about the Matias Tactile Pro Keyboard 3.0. I do hear that it is not as good as the old mac with the clear sides that took two hours for people with mild ocd to clean. You know who you are.

    Love this thing

    • Written by from Everett

I really love this keyboard and as a recent convert to Mac computers I find the longer keystrokes on non-Apple keyboards very noticeable now when I'm out and about and have to use them (the fatigue happens quickly). My only suggestion is to make a wireless version of the full keyboard PLEASE!! Then it would get a 5-star rating from me.

    A big surprise.

    • Written by from Corona

Keyboards are fairly personal items, and what I like others may not. I was use to a keyboard with standard-type key structure and feel, so when I took a look at this slab of aluminum with flat, chicklet keys, I said a silent, "oh oh". Within 5 minutes of using it, my "oh oh" became "wow!"

For me, the test of any keyboard is how well I can type on it. There is no doubt that I type much, much faster with far less mistakes than I did on any keyboard previous to this one. It's almost effortless, and I do a tremendous amount of writing.

There is only one thing I found that was a minor annoyance. I find that the USB ports are much harder to get to than on the older standard-type Apple keyboards. I sometimes pop in a flash drive, but to do so regularly is cumbersome (I need to pick up the keyboard and turn it over to accomplish this simple task). This really isn't a big deal, but I thought I'd mention it. And since I've added a USB hub, I now only use the keyboard USB ports for the mouse.

    Amzing Product - 100 pros, 2 cons

    • Written by from Houston

Amazing keyboard, works perfectly with everythng, even in windows, it's so easy and feels so nice to type with this keyboard compared to common keyboards. Seriously there's no better keyboard in the world.

    However there are 2 cons,

    1) There's not a Wireless version of a keyboard with numbad like this one

    2) The USB power doesn't support many USB devices that don't have a DC current adaptor.

Since Electronics is my area of expertice, I know this is a hard issue to solve without have to, you know, plug the keyboard in a wall or waste 2 USB ports in the computer because there's not enough Watts in the +vcc and -vcc built in a USB port to support 3 unpowered devices that consume a lot of energy, but I don't know, either just make one built-in USB port that works with the majority of the devices or make USB port in the Macs with a higher current capacity.

Works great w/ Late 2008 Macbook

    • Written by from Lawrence

This wired keyboard works great with my Late 2008 Macbook. Plugged it in and was immediately able to use it; no problems whatsoever.

I was even able to charge/sync my 2nd Gen iPod Touch with the USB ports on the keyboard. Before buying this, I had read reviews of people having issues with that. Works with mine with no problems.

I went back and forth between the wired and the bluetooth keyboard, before finally buying this. I'd recommend this is any Macbook/Pro/Air user. If you aren't planning on projecting the screen image onto a screen that is far away (TV?) then the bluetooth keyboard isn't worth the extra money IMO. Especially since the wired keyboard has a number pad.

    Sleek, stylish... professional

    • Written by from UPPER COOMERA

This is an amazing keyboard. The design is excellent as you would expect from any Apple product. The two USB 2.0 peripherals are very useful for plugging in USB thumb drives and headphones without having to reach behind my iMac. The short travel keys are excellent and have a good, crisp feel. My keyboard does not have the launchpad icon on F4 but using keyboard preferences, I have made F5 open launchpad. I then printed out a launchpad icon and stuck it on F5.

The full size numeric keypad is excellent and works amazingly well with Calculator.app, "/" pressing the divide button, "clear" pressing the C button etc. One problem is that the numeric keypad does not work with Bootcamp. probably because I haven't pressed Number Lock but I don't know which button is the equivalent of that on this keyboard.

As always… backlit keys would have been amazing especially since you don't have the limit of battery life on a wired keyboard.

There are better keyboards for less.

    • Written by from Menlo Park

I have been a touch typist for over 25 years. My Mom has been a touch typist for over 50 years. We both agree -- the keys on this new model have no natural weight to them and this causes us to make more errors.

Apple, please bring back the previous model with normal sized keys and spring tension. That was an excellent, inexpensive keyboard.

    superb

    • Written by from Leawood

a great keyboard. i wish they made the full size model wireless, but its still great. This slim profile makes it easily portable and easy on the wrists. The laptop-like keys are quiet, and the labeled function keys make using dashboard and expose a whole lot easier. well done, apple. one warning i will give: if you're banking on the usb ports to use an external hard drive or jumpdrive, think again. the keyboard doesn't have enough power running through it, so you can only use devices that have a power source of their own (like a digital camera or printer.)

    A Must Have

    • Written by from Ronkonkoma

I know this my sound Odd. But I like the feel of a Laptop keyboard with that medium drop and nice reflex back.

The sound is great and there is no mushy feeling at all. You KNOW when you hit a key. I type faster on this than any other keyboard I have ever used.

My NEW Mac Pro came with the old one (I hated) and they told me it would have this. I went back to Apple store and they did the right thing. I felt like a 6 year old... I was so happy.

Everyone that sees it in my office is soooo jealous!

    Winner!
