    Pourous Material attracts dirt...

    • Written by from Idyllwild

I recently had to replace my apple numeric wired keyboard due to my space bar being bad. It's OK though...it lasted a good long time. My new keyboard has a different material that the keys are made out of. It's kind of gritty or porous and it gets dirty really fast. I have to clean it every couple days. The good news is I read somewhere the best way to clean a keyboard was with a "magic eraser" and it's true...it works great. But the keyboard still gets really dirty way too fast. I hope Apple will consider going back to the glossy material they used to use.

    Unbelievable

    • Written by from Portland

I cannot believe that this Apple keyboard gets a five-star rating. I have to order my THIRD keyboard today because they keep crapping out on me. One key goes out and I'm told, "Nope, can't fix it." Wow. They seem to be very cheaply built so it's no wonder they don't last. I think this last one may have lasted 2 years, maybe a little more. Yuk.

    No BACKLIT >_<

    • Written by from Manhattan

Could've rated 5 stars, but minus 1 star for no LED backlit, 1 more for the price (as for every other Apple accessory) =='' On the good side, i gave 3 stars for the thinness/design (still the best keyboard by far), usability (num keys for gaming + usb ports for charging my iPhone and gaming controllers), and compatibility (PC, even PS4)

Make a backlit iMac keyboard please!!!

    • Written by from Rockledge

I have both the new iMac keyboard and the wireless keyboard. Both are superb quality, but I have to wish that Apple had made the wired version backlit like the Mac laptops. My wife's new Mac Pro Air is terrific, and the keyboard is so much nicer to use in dimmed lighting (such as you might use when gaming on your iMac.) Please take this as a suggestion, and not as a complaint--this is the best keyboard I've had in thirty years.

    Good but I wanted a black-key version

    • Written by from Campina Grande

I wonder if Apple would launch a black-keys version of this awesome keyboard... One thing I don't like on the one with white keys is that the keys eventually get dirty. I have a Macbook Pro Retina and its black keys are just what I would like in a keyboard. Please Apple, give us a black-keys keyboard!

    Fantastic Keyboard

    • Written by from Fort Erie

I have used a lot of keyboards, and I have to say this is by far the best and most comfortable keyboard that I've ever used. the only way I could see Apple improve it is by making it backlit like their MacBook Keyboards. Great job Apple.

Just had my second one of these die 12 months and one week after purchase

    • Written by from Clontarf

I've bought two of these. The keyboard looks great but we just had the second one die. Still looks new but has stopped working. Very annoying, particularly as I bought the wired one so I wouldn't have a hassle with batteries running out. The batteries in the wireless probably would have lasted longer than this keyboard.
Will now check legal rights and see if Apple will replace or repair.

Our 2nd Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad

    • Written by from Toronto

This is an excellent keyboard. Its designed really well, built to last. We have 2 of these keyboards, and use them with our Mac Mini's. The keyboard is compact, and has to USB ports at the bottom. They don't take up much space and the keys feel great.
    Love them!

    Keep a good keyboard around

    • Written by from SIDNEY

This lasted almost 3 years. I have an old keyboard from the G5 that still works fine. Granted it does not look as good, but still works; which is more than I can say for the new one. If the new one would have lasted three years I would have given it three stars.

    Low durability

    • Written by from Somerville

Owned this keyboard for three years without issue, until recently when I had my first accident. It's a great keyboard, but never in my life have I had so much trouble keeping a keyboard clean. This keyboard is impossible to clean without destroying it. Keyboards are supposed to be able to handle abuse of all kinds, from crumbs, sticky fingers, and the occasional coffee spill. Don't get me wrong, I love this keyboard, but I was very unhappy that after three years, I accidentally spilled a bit of coffee onto the edge, and the keyboard was permanently broken. All cleaning efforts failed tremendously.

At this point, I would upgrade to the Bluetooth keyboard, but it's lack of a numeric pad is a deal-breaker.

in the end, this is great keyboard that looks nice and fits the aesthetic of the Mac line. Just don't dare ever have an accident with a nearby drink.

    I LOVE THIS KEYBOARD!

    • Written by from Denver

People please, buy this frickin keyboard! It's the frickin best one I have ever used! I bought the wired keyboard over the Magic Keyboard for 3 reasons. 1: It's #20 cheaper than the Magic Keyboard. 2: It has that numeric pad. 3: It has a USB 2.0 port on each side. It also works with Windows, although some special Mac keys (such as brightness adjustment) might not work. To anyone with a Mac Pro, iMac, MacBook, or even a Windows desktop or laptop, I recommend this keyboard!!!!

    Great design and perfect layout

    • Written by from los angeles

I've been working on my Mac Pro with a Windows keyboard, and finally switched over - what a nice change.
Not only are my function keys matching my macbook keyboard now, but the usb ports on the keyboard is a handy feature too.
    Very happy with this purchase.

    The Best Keyboard

    • Written by from Wentzville

The Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad is the best keyboard I have ever used. It is very comfortable to type on due to its slightly angled profile and separated keys. Additionally, this keyboard is one of the best looking keyboards on the market—almost unrealistically thin and light, and made from gorgeous bead-blasted aluminum.

    Apple Keyboard w/Numeric Keypad

    • Written by from Duluth

I used to read these reviews and say "well that is not me" or "what a shame" but now I've been burned....my keyboard works fine but I have had my numeric key pad for exactly a year and today 3/28/14 it has gone bye bye...so sad...I love Apple products and this is the first product that has failed me...sadly disappointed.

Great keyboard at a great price

    • Written by from Venetia

I prefer a wired keyboard over the wireless model for several reasons. First, it has 2 USB connections on it second, it does not need batteries and finally, your Mac never loses it's bluetooth connection.

    Keyboard fail

Cool, but junk. Keyboard worked for less than 9 months.

    • Written by from Ivins

I bought one of these in July of 2013 and yesterday it failed. It's a wired usb keyboard for god sake, how tough can it be to make it last more than 8 months?

How come there is no warranty information on this device? I had a similar issue with a wireless keyboard and it just started acting weird after about 6 months.

    Lacks Durability

    • Written by from San Diego

I've bought at least 10 of these this year alone, multiple computers of course in a computational environment. I'd guess half still work. They break in a few creative ways. One is only recognized after a ritual of (dis)connecting it a few times. A couple of others refuse to work with Cinema Displays. A few others have unresponsive keys.

These keyboards attract a lot of dirt. I recommend cleaning them to our staff, which is probably where I got it wrong. Cleaning seems to break them. Maybe they'd last longer coupled with a cover, but I hate those.

Probably go back to tried and true PC keyboards. Not as sexy, but I've never had one break. Ever.

    JUNK!

    • Written by from Gardnerville

This apple keyboard crapped on me in less than 4 months. Worked when I went to bed, wouldn't work this morning. Poof, gone.

What happened to putting out a quality product? Come on Apple, are you so focused on mobile devices that you're now blowing off us desktop users? Many of us have paid premium prices for many years for apple products which is what got you (apple) to where you are today, and you allow a piece of junk keyboard like this on the market?

I'm typing this on a 10+ year old Dell keyboard I borrowed from my wife.
