    A SOLID KEYBOARD

This Keyboard is smooth, and sleek. The keys are easy to push down with little travel. This increased my keyboarding speed. Not to mention; it's one of the best looking Keyboards with a Numeric Keypad. The USB inputs on each side of the Keyboard are tucked under nice and neat. Apple design and innovation is why this Keyboard is under my fingers right now.

This keyboard is much better that on the Macbook Pro, but the 'documentation is worse than useless - misleading, vague and intended for other keyboards, as is Apple's online information. There are 19 function keys, but what the last 6 are for or how to program, them is probably buried under some rock. The placement of the keys is easier to use than other Apple keyboards, and having page up and down, home and end keys is a relief for a professional writer. These work differently in different programs, Wish I didn't have to get the Numeric Keypad with it, but nothing's perfect. There are third party keyboards designed like that - with the middle row of keys - for the Mac, but they all work differently and most vendors won't let you try them out.

    Couldn't be happier!

To sum everything up; this keyboard is amazing. It has a great feel to it. It has made typing a pleasure again, if not a little fun. The keys are easy to depress, and since they are low profile I've actually added about 15-20 wpm to my typing speed. You kind of glide more than type with this thing. The only thing you might want to look out for, is the edges are a little "sharp", for lack of a better word.

Would love to see this in an ergonomic version. But it's amazing! Buy it!

    No backlighting

This is an excellent keyboard, the nicest touch of any keyboard I've ever used. The only drawback is no lighted keys, which have been available on Mac notebooks for years, which is a great feature for those of us who prefer to - or are able to only - work by the computer screen's light. Backlit keys would make this the perfect keyboard.

The best keyboard I have ever used!

I originally purchased this keyboard (over a year ago) to go with my MacBook as I prefer not to use the laptop keyboard. I have used it on windows xp and more recently windows 7 in addition to Leopard and Snow Leopard. No problems with it ever. It is super comfortable to type on and very easy to keep clean. I have used loads of different keyboards in nearly every price range and this one beats them all. (If they sold them at office max so I could get one to use at work, that would be great.)

    Great keyboard but flawed.

The keyboard itself is brilliant- a great size and very nice to type on. However, the cable is too short and the USB ports on the back are NOT a real USB hub. You can only really use a low-power device like a mouse with it and usually only one at a time.

I purchased this keyboard when it was first released, I think about 2 years ago now. Not a single problem with it so far. I clean it periodically with iKlear and a microfiber towel. Some of the commonly used keys and the space bar have developed a bit of a shine from constant use. The keys "feel" great - very easy to use, the spring pressure feels very natural for me. The super thin design means less stress on your hands and wrists, and easier all day use. If you are looking for a really great replacement keyboard at a reasonable price, this is a solid choice.

    Two small requests...

I think it would be great to have 2 USB ports on the front to each side of the cable, like the previous generation keyboard. Perhaps even a total of 4 USB ports. That being said, I rarely use the USB ports because they are a bit difficult to access on the side.

I would really LOVE to have this keyboard in black and silver to match my iMac better, and to have the option for back lit keys like the Macbook Pro's have. Black and silver would be nice, with selectable back lighting would be super. On/off, adjustable brightness - maybe a few LED color choices like white, blue, red, green - depending on your conditions or mood. White for general purpose, red for stealthy operations, blue for that cool electric modern feel, green because geniuses pick green :-)

Great keyboard and designed to the standard you would expect from Apple. Now thanks to the review column it also allows me the opportunity to laugh at all the no0bs who actually expected the usb ports to support high powered devices, do some research first.

......I wish it was wireless, I use the number pad a lot and don't like being tethered. Maybe Mr. Jobs. will help us out with a wireless version of the full keypad real soon.

A wireless keyboard great....no numeric keypad....what? If you want business customers to use your products, you may want to make products we can use. The store tried to sell me a separate blue tooth calculator for more money. Apple missed the boat again. Think!

NICE AND MODERN KEYBOARD BUT THE USB PORTS ARE NOT WHAT THEY SEEM

    • Written by from Chicago

23 of 24 people found this useful

Excellent keyboard, the keys have great and crisp feel,it has great design, but one of the reasons i bought this product was because apple told us it has 2 2.0 usb built in ports so i can plug in any device i want.
You simply can´t plug any usb flash drive or an ipod, because the system tells you that the usb ports are low powered.
So that´s a big disappointment for me, other than that, it´s all good!!

20 years of programming, my favorite so far

I wouldn't mind a wireless version with the extended key set, but wired is fine for me. Also, some may prefer a keyboard that works a little better with wrist supports. For me, however, this is the finest keyboard I've used so far. The keys feel solid and respond excellently, it's quiet, and minimally designed. No extra junk keys plastered about, no bright LEDs, no software drivers or configuration, just a great feeling keyboard!

I truly enjoy this keyboard but after a few months the "6^" key went nuts and randomly types sixes. The key "7&" has failed. I can't attest to the quality of this product as I can to my other Apple products. I don't have an Apple store locally and our Apple products seller here only warrants for 10 days. Maybe you'll have better luck than I did.

Wireless with Numeric would be better...

This is a great keyboard, it is beautiful and sleek-looking, but works really well also. The function keys are very useful, and since it is an Apple Keyboard I know I can expect the best from it. The USB ports on it are handy as well. However, I wish it was Wireless. The only thing that kept me from buying the Wireless Keyboard is that it doesn't have a Numeric Keyboard, which I use very often. But overall this is a great keyboard, it is thin and durable, and I love it. This is a good buy for anyone with a Mac, but if you don't need the Numeric Keypad I suggest buying without it to save the money. The Bluetooth Keyboard is the best way to go in my opinion if you don't need the Numeric Keypad and your Mac is Bluetooth-enabled.
