Waiting for the next step...

I have been using this keyboard now for 6 months and from the day I got it I loved it BUT I'd upgrade in a New York minute if I could just find a comparable illuminated keyboard.

Great!!
Written by RC from Silver Spring

I found this particular keyboard to be great. The slimness of the keys allows for easy movement across the board and the addition of the numberpad allows for easy mathematical calculations. My only complaint is that there isn't a wireless keyboard with a numberpad.

Great keyboard.

I've been using this keyboard for just under 2 yrs. My typing skills are lousy. But the feel and design of this keyboard is nice. It has a small footprint, and the spacing between the keys makes typing on it easier. If Apple made this keyboard in a Bluetooth wireless version, I would own it tomorrow.

works

Works nicely with auto hotkey and windows vista and windows 7. Using it to replace my gaming keyboard because it takes up less space and just looks freaking slick. Only complaint is there is no driver from apple to make it work with a windows pc native. But auto hotkey fixes this for the most part by mapping the keys to w/e functions you want.

Nothing too exciting, but no doubt Solid

USB ports and a keypad were a must have, and in Apple's lineup, this is the only option and its up to the task. If they were to make a bluetooth wireless version w/KP they would have to ditch the USB ports. Easy to type quickly. I don't like how I can't use F13/F14 to adjust the iMac screen brightness (by default) anymore. Nothing really innovative, its a keyboard that works quite well, yes you may like some 3rd party ones better, but this ones good enough to keep me happy.
My only real gripe (which I didn't deduct for) is that my "N" key was smudged during Apples printing and a streak runs along the whole key and somehow this slipped by Apple's QC dept. Hopefully they will send out a new one, its a bit of an eyesore with such an otherwise great looking keyboard.9 of 15 people found this useful

This is an excellent keyboard. My only 2 regrets are:
- No wireless keyboard with numeric keypad available
- No keyboard with extended characters printed on the keys available4 of 6 people found this useful

Not just another pretty face...
Written by RD from San Diego

This keyboard does more than make people go "Ooooooh!" I was able to "test drive" this keyboard for a week about a year ago an fell in love with it after about an hour of use. I'm no speed typist, but adjusting to the lower profile made typing easier. As a PC user it's refreshing to have something that so slim compared to most standard factory issued keyboards. After my brief trial I switched back to my conventional keyboard and was quickly disappointed by how clunky it felt. Most importantly, however, I noticed that I was experiencing increased amounts of discomfort in my wrist, which eventually became quite severe, especially after a particularly busy summer. I made the decision to switch to Mac keyboard and over the course of a week my pain lessened considerably and now, two months later, I am pain free and as comfortable as ever.
There is a downside to using this on a PC, however, as some of my more frequently used keyboard shortcuts don't translate, but this is more an issue of me learning to use it properly than Apple not providing these features. It's a slight learning curve, but shouldn't be enough to deter anyone looking to make the switch. Help can easily be found on-line for users facing the same issue.6 of 7 people found this useful

Great Keyboard but want Wireless
Written by KL from VICTORIA
Nov 6, 2009
Great Keyboard, i bought one for all my computers, PC and Mac's in the studio, love them so much but wish i could have a wireless option with numeric keypad, the wireless options are useless to me with out the keypad so i sent it back and bought another wired keyboard with numeric keypad. In the Audio recording i need the options of markers and edits and having the keypad makes that much simpler.

I like it.

Overall this is a slick keyboard. Though the keys require a firm stroke, no more force is required than with any other keyboard, and the typing feels nice. Wireless and back lit keys would be a sweet option for this keyboard.

Pros:
I love the slim profile of the keyboard and the aluminum structure.
It takes up way less desk space.
Cons:
You really have to strike the keys firmly to make sure they register.
I would like to the keys back lit for night typing.
The full size keyboard needs to be wireless.27 of 32 people found this useful

Beautiful Design
Written by JV from Bieldside

of course a keyboard is just a keyboard, the big difference is that this one looks pretty, and its not as bulky as other keyboards. The only thing that Mac could do to make this better is to offer a wireless version of their keyboard with the numeric keypad. I would have got the wireless one, but i need the numeric keypad, i use it alot. Other than that, this keyboard works perfectly and looks good.

Best I've used
Written by SS from Sacramento

I bought the imac a while back with the keyboard and i have to say it is super thin and really really quiet unlike those fat keyboards that make those loud clicks when you type with them. Im really impressed. the only problem is that if you have really dirty fingers and then start typing on it the keys will get really dirty and its almost impossible to clean. other than that i love it!

Full Keyboard should have just come with the iMac
Written by RL from Burnaby
Sep 18, 2009
I bought my iMac two weeks ago and really gave the mini keyboard a try but, as a PC convert, there are some things that I just need, like my home and end keys, a backspace and a full size keypad. It should have just come with the system I bought but there was no swaying the sales person to swap it out for me. Oh well I ended up having to spend another $60 to get the full keyboard. I also ended up using the KeyFixer utility to remap the Home and End keys so that they operated like I expected them to. Overall I am very happy with my system and full keyboard.

GREAT...but...
Written by BF from Kissimmee

Ok...Ok.. This is a truly beautiful thing, well done. I have used my MacBook Pro 17" as my main computer (95% of the time) for the past 3 years. Recently (last week) I updated my Pro to the new unibody 15" pro and added a 24" led screen (waw again)... So with the new 24" led well I needed a keyboard and hence this one. It works great with well placed keys and handy controls for a variety of functions. Full numeric keys and arrows. My only real surprise is that there is no backlight... hmmmm.... I just cannot understand why Apple did not put backlit keys... I use my system for a variety of things and often operate in a no light room.

Awesome keyboard with one minor problem
Written by FM from LONDON
Sep 7, 2009
As the other reviews state, and I endorse, the keyboard is great, the keys feel great and all, but there is one minor issue, and it has to do with apple USB connectors.
The connectors in the keyboard are very strong and tight, but given the type of USB plugs from, say, an iPod touch, or a mighty mouse, it is VERY hard to pluck them out of the keyboard since they are square and smooth. If you never have to remove apple stuff from the keyboard, there is no problem, but if you do, you'd better have very strong fingers.27 of 34 people found this useful

Great, except for the DVORAK conversion
Written by AB from Goderich
Aug 30, 2009
This keyboard is great, especially if you like the QWERTY layout.
I use the DVORAK layout though, and figured switching would be trivial as it was with all other Apple keyboards I've had, including macbooks and the old style desktop keyboard. This keyboard, however, has all the tabs but two (J and F) in vertical positions. The J and F keys' tabs are horizontal. This means that if you switch the keys, you have to put four back in sideways (J, F, U and H). It's not a big deal, but I'd prefer if all my keys were in the same orientation. I also can't see any reason to put two key tabs in sideways.21 of 36 people found this useful
