    Great Invention

    Written by BZ from Elizabeth

Thought I was buying this keyboard because I needed a numeric keypad for my new 17" MacBook Pro. The price was less than $20 more than a plain numeric keypad that didn't even do the job correctly. Took it back and bought this keyboard. I love it! I had no idea how convenient it would be for not just typing numerics, but sitting with my feet propped up, this keyboard on my lap typing away . It is incredibly light and easy to use. The touch is light and easy. It is worth every penny. I give it a 5 out of 5 rating.

Great keyboard with great design features

    Written by JB from Arnold

I find this a wonderful upgrade from the older style keyboards (clear body w/white keys). The other was find as well, but I always hated the fact, with any keyboard, that dirt, dust, crumbs, etc would always find their way down under the keys and the hassle of tearing the keyboard apart to clean it, etc. was a real pain and it left the keyboard unsightly, in general.

This keyboard does away with that issue. It is thin and the clearance between body and keys is very small, so it definitely minimizes small particles from falling into the body. Easy to clean with just a few wipes of a damp cleaning cloth, too.

Typing on the new design for some reason, rather it be the height change, etc. took a few days to stop making typing errors, but once I got used to it, it's fine and types very smoothly. I like the numeric keypad on the right side, but have noticed that they have removed that on the new keyboards. I hope they continue to offer the extended version for those that want/need that numeric ability.

Overall, I love the design and overall user-friendliness of this keyboard and will be using it for a long time coming.

Good keyboard, takes some time getting use to

    Written by MQ from Gainesville

    May 2, 2009

This is a great keyboard. I spend at least 10 -12 hours a day typing on this keyboard and I don't have many problems with it. The only problems that I have with the keyboard is that the number pad is slightly different that the keypad on the standard PC keyboard, but I know that I will get use to that and it is WELL worth the slightest bit of "trouble" (if I would even go that far to call it that) that it has caused.
As to the issues with the height of the keyboard-i haven't had any trouble with that as I simply use a Keyboard drawer that allows me to adjust the height of my keyboard. I have been using this for years (even before this keyboard) so it was never an issue.

    Superb!

There aren't many products that earn a five star rating from me. But this keyboard is the exception. For me it has excellent feel which has improved my typing. Its low profile prevents my wrists from getting sore. And it's super easy to keep clean. I can understand how people with long finger nails may have difficulty with it, but my nails are trimmed short, so that's not an issue.

    Back to my old keyboard

    Written by GS from Dexter

    May 1, 2009

I find it extremely uncomfortable to use. It is 1 inch lower at the top than my old one. In less than 24 hours I've gone back.

I wanted to give it no stars, but the system won't let me.

Old ones are great, new ones are noisy!

    Written by MH from Gilbert

Sometime in 2009 Apple made a poor revision of this keyboard and the spacebar is really noisy! My wife bought one in September 2008 and it's awesome. I just purchased a Unibody MacBook Pro and picked up one of these keyboards, but the keys now feel different and the spacebar is super noisy! A side by side comparison to my wife's keyboard makes it very obvious. Too bad!

    Amazing

Written by JF from Las Cruces

Amazing keyboard. So amazing in fact that I bought one to take to work to use on their PC's. The keyboard allows me to type a lot faster, and effortlessly. Going back to a regular keyboard is a pain. You realize how much better you can glide over the Apple "Flatboard" than you can with a conventional keyboard.

It's ultra quiet, extremely solid, has the USB ports on either side (great for quick camera or flash drive connectivity) and best of all, it looks amazing. I get so many compliments at work on how cool it looks. I just hope they eventually come out with an illuminated version with black keys. Call it the "Flatboard Pro" if you will.

It looks great, but that's pretty much it...

At first, I found this keyboard to be eye-pleasing. It's slim design and nice white keys struck me as nice. However, after taking it home, I found that the keys are very similar to those of a laptop (by that I mean that it feels like it's going to break in the near future). This presents as a problem to me because as I'm typing, I feel as if I'm typing too hard. It feels as if over time, the keys will just give out due to my typing style (I tend to have heavy fingers). The only reason why I'll probably keep this keyboard because there's not much of an alternative to a nice Mac keyboard out there. Like another reviewer had stated, it seems as if Apple has chosen form over function once again. Ideally, I would like someone to come out with a keyboard that's comfortable, provides nice feedback from the keys and, being the student that I am, ergonomic. And oh, it'd also be nice if the keys felt as if they were sturdy and could withstand my typing.

    Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad

    Written by PM from Brighton

    Apr 22, 2009

In the beginning I was a fan of this keyboard. Slim, stylish and it doesn't take up much room.

However style soon gave way to function and this is where this keyboard starts to show a darker side.
The metal frame especially around the lower section is very sharp. Prolonged use of this keyboard will cause a nasty RSI problem. I tried to fix it the ole fashion way, with a grinder, smoothed the edge off, but alas the damage to my overworked fingers is too great and I had to switch to a logitech.
Form over function, not a good compromise, it's like a good looking girlfriend who is lazy, the good looks soon wear off.

    No Problem...

Written by RS from North York

Lots of people complain about the flatness of the keys, but it takes a day or so to adapt to it. If you used a laptop like I did before, it will be no problem at all. Unless your keys on your laptop were curved. Then it would take a day or so like I said.

I bought this product from the apple store and it has been great so far. Then one day the brightness kept going down.. When I pressed brightness up id went down again. I recommend not getting this product to those who have an intel core 2 duo white iMac 24".

Very nice! Good performance/feel, looks kill!

My wife spilled something on my 1st gen Mac Pro keyboard which I was actually quite fond of. Much to my disappointment Apple no longer produces those and the only replacement was a third-party clone. Thought I'd give the slim one a chance and after a brief adjustment of an hour or so I can honestly say that this keyboard kills! So sick! I'm a programmer and feel is a huge factor. The key response is nice and hand placement is comfortable. And wow, the aesthetics. Can't look any nicer than this. Definitely recommended.

I can type about 30% faster with this keyboard since the keys have such good response. It sucked for about a day then was awesome ever since. Don't go by the very first time you use it.

    Excellent keyboard

    Written by SB from Plano

I have had no difficulty at all adapting to the flat design. In fact, the keys have an ideal amount of sensitivity for me and typing is more comfortable than any other keyboard I have used in the last nineteen years.

I am puzzled by many of the online complaints in this forum. I type by touch and view my monitor while typing, having being taught in high school to type on an IBM Typewriter. I wonder if a dependency on looking at the keyboard or not knowing how to type without looking at the keyboard poses problems for some of the dissatisfied buyers. From my experience, I can recommend the keyboard highly.

The best keyboard I've every had

Written by KK from New York

Looks a little funky but but it has the best typing experience. I've never been a fan of the standard keyboard keys. They've always been a bit flimsy. But this keyboard is incredible for typing. The keys are solid and don't press down too deep or bounce. It has a great tactile feel. I wish they would release the extended keyboard in the wireless version.

flat, keys = cool look and cheap to make i guess...>

It's like trying to type on a scrabble board.
if you touch type even to a small degree, you'll find it a real pain (i'm no secretary - but get by without looking at the board %100 of the time).

I can type way quicker and more accurately on my old powerbook, which has the nice scissor keys, but they are larger, and curved to suit you fingers so you naturally find the middle of the keys. this problem means you fingers also bump in to other keys if you go to far to the edge of one.

they really need to re-think what has clearly been a bit too much style over content for the only part of the mac you really touch rather than look at.

and while you're at it apple, how about some backlighting for all us late night dingy room lovers?

    Just a GREAT Keyboard!!!

    Written by AA from huntington

I was very hesitant on purchasing this keyboard, but after much personal debate...I got it. And I have to say that I AM EXTREMELY PLEASED!!! I mean it's only a keyboard but it works great and I have had none of the problems that have been listed. Maybe beginners luck. It started out without any problems and I happen to like the 2 USB ports. I plugged my mouse into it and off I went.
If you're debating between this keyboard and another, you should really give this one a try. It's also very comfortable if you have Carpal Tunnel due to the low profile of the unit.
Maybe a lttle pricey for a keyboard, BUT WORTH EVERY PENNY!
