Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad
flat, keys = cool look and cheap to make i guess...>

It's like trying to type on a scrabble board.
if you touch type even to a small degree, you'll find it a real pain (i'm no secretary - but get by without looking at the board %100 of the time).
I can type way quicker and more accurately on my old powerbook, which has the nice scissor keys, but they are larger, and curved to suit you fingers so you naturally find the middle of the keys. this problem means you fingers also bump in to other keys if you go to far to the edge of one.
they really need to re-think what has clearly been a bit too much style over content for the only part of the mac you really touch rather than look at.
and while you're at it apple, how about some backlighting for all us late night dingy room lovers?14 of 22 people found this useful

Just a GREAT Keyboard!!!
Written by AA from huntington

I was very hesitant on purchasing this keyboard, but after much personal debate...I got it. And I have to say that I AM EXTREMELY PLEASED!!! I mean it's only a keyboard but it works great and I have had none of the problems that have been listed. Maybe beginners luck. It started out without any problems and I happen to like the 2 USB ports. I plugged my mouse into it and off I went.
If you're debating between this keyboard and another, you should really give this one a try. It's also very comfortable if you have Carpal Tunnel due to the low profile of the unit.
Maybe a lttle pricey for a keyboard, BUT WORTH EVERY PENNY!15 of 16 people found this useful

I purchased the French keyboard and couldn't be happier with it. I had been accustomed to working directly on my laptop keyboard and was wondering if I'd handle the switch well... Have no fear, it rocks.

first of all this is very sleek. the keys are very responsive, and also it doesn't make that annoying loud click that other plastic keyboards make. although maybe not the best keyboard for the workplace. the keys are a little spread out than other keyboards so it will take getting used to. overall its a very nice keyboard.

Great accessory to the MacBook
Written by LW from Toronto
Mar 29, 2009
Smooth transition from using the MacBook keyboard to this external keyboard. I find it's much easier to type on with the angle. Takes a little adjustment to get used to the different function keys but it didn't take long to figure them out. The keyboard has a really low profile so it doesn't take up too much space and the price is reasonable for what you get.

Great keyboard, even with the problems

- manufacturing problems
Unfortunately, the keyboard has some manufacturing issues (as described below) so you're better off to buy somewhere local and reduce your turnaround time in case you have to get a replacement.
Problems:
I recently bought this keyboard from a local store and unfortunately the '[' key wouldn't respond most of the time (i.e. you had to press directly on the center to get it to register -- not reasonable when you're hitting a key with your pinky finger).
This is unlike the other keys where it doesn't really matter where/how I press them. I returned this keyboard and that store was out of stock so I went to another store and purchased another keyboard (obviously from a different batch).
The new keyboard had the same problem, except now it's the left arrow key! I'm going to keep returning the keyboard until I get one that works for me.
Bottom line: if you can get a properly manufactured keyboard, you will love it!32 of 36 people found this useful

Slick keyboard
Written by AM
Mar 23, 2009
Got a new iMac at work a couple of weeks ago (moving from a PC) & when I first saw this keyboard, I thought there was no way I'd be able to type on it. Took to it immediately! Now, when I have to use a PC, the old school keyboad feels really clunky. Have not had any problems with the Apple keyboard (as one use described in regards to delays when pressing keys, etc.--might be because he's using it on old Macs?). Anyway, I'll be replacing my PC keyboard at home with one of these. Good job, Apple!

Form over function?
Written by DL from Salt Lake City

This keyboard is beautiful, has a slick slow profile, and consistent feedback. That said, if you're a touch typist that has to switch back and forth from a more traditional keyboard, you're probably going to hate it. I suspect if I had the option to have one at work, I would learn to use it more effectively. But I don't and after months of use, my fingers still stumble over the keys and my error rate is unacceptable. Also, my wrists and hands tire under the strain of using such a low profile design.
If you're a "hunt and peck" typist or plan on using this as your primary keyboard where you rarely find yourself using another of a more traditional design, please disregard my feedback.5 of 8 people found this useful

Great keyboard!
Written by LA from Brooklyn Center

Keyboard is elegantly designed. Small and compact and totally cool! Response is amazing. It's paired with my G5 and it makes you feel like the El Capitan of the Mothership. 2 USB ports right on opposite ends. very responsive keys, plug n play set up, no fuss. Just a fabulous keyboard and it gave me a happy feeling for my $49 bucks.
It works perfectly with my editing in Final Cut Pro. It would be great to also have the keyboard overlay, but most of the shortcuts are already built into the keyboard.
If you spend a lot of time on your computer, the $49 will be an excellent investment.5 of 6 people found this useful

Apple Quality Assurance: Please check this out!
Written by RZ from O'Brien
Mar 20, 2009
Having just recently purchased two of these keyboards for our older Macs. I have a better understanding of why so many people seem to either love them or hate them.
It seems that there are no two of these new keyboards that behave alike. One works great. I had to return the other because of a strange time delay with the up arrow and especially the right arrow key. Not a computer or software problem, it has been isolated the individual keyboard. The replacement has the same intermittent delay on the arrow keys, plus a space bar that only works about half the time. Pressing the lower half of the bar usually gets no response, even though you feel and hear the click of the key.
Apple has designed the Caps Lock key with a long delay in its response, requiring the typist to lean on that key for an abnormal period of time in order to get it to lock or unlock. Apple is compensating for poor typing technique at the expense good typists.
To test your keyboards response , Open Keyboard Viewer (under the flag on the Menu Bar; if the flag isnt there, go to System Preferences / International / Input Menu, and check Show input menu in menu bar). The Keyboard Viewer will give you a visual indication of the response for each keystroke, easily displaying flaky key contacts or strange time delays. If you end up with one of these new Aluminum keyboards that doesnt work properly, my advice is to have it replaced immediately (and repeat if necessary, until you get a GOOD one). There seems to be a high percentage that truly are defective. Its time for the Quality Assurance folks at Apple to get a handle on this problem!44 of 52 people found this useful

This is one of the best keyboards I have ever had. It has a nice feel and a very positive response. The design is super and very easy to look at. Would have liked to get this keyboard with num keypad as a wireless kb but it is not to be. I wish the cord was longer but my board shipped with a short extension cable that worked for me.

Apple sure has improved the keyboard. I love the low profile keys, and it actually feels great to type! One of the main reasons I love this keyboard is because on the older one it was a pain to clean, but with this one its extremely easy! All in all, I love this product!

Functionally very well designed. The only thing I think it is lacking is the function button on the lower left as is the case on the MacBook. Might be nice to have backlight feature too. Other than these iI would recommend this item.

Needed an excuse to use my new keyboard...
Written by JL from ASTORIA
Mar 10, 2009
...so I decided to write a review on the Apple Store. That's how much I like it.
I had a wireless Apple Keyboard (the old transparent model) and it got RIDICULOUSLY dirty. There's not really a good way to clean it, so I just got this from the Apple Store. It works great. The keys feel great and I think it actually increases my WPM, since the keys have a shorter distance to travel. It also looks great and I don't think it will be nearly as easy to get this one dirty.
I am just really disappointed that Apple doesn't offer a wireless keyboard with the numeric keypad! That was a deal-breaker for me on the new Apple wireless keyboard. Either way, I'm much happier with this.9 of 13 people found this useful

Excellent and Beautiful Keyboard
Written by AD from Cambridge

At first, I had to get used to this keyboard because of its design (i.e. the calculator-type keys). After getting used to it (about a couple of minutes), I realized I could type faster on it.
The keyboard is quiet and pleasant to the touch. It is easy to clean.
It looks pretty good from a design point of view.1 of 3 people found this useful

I love Apple's New Slimline Keyboard
Written by SY from Ormond Beach
Mar 8, 2009
This keyboard is awesome. I replaced it with the clear type that Apple used to have. I like the fact that it is silver--completed closed and is not even a 1/4 inch thick. Yes...just about a 1/4 inch!! It's so user friendly...the keyboard is quiet too. They moved the eject, volume up and down, brightness buttons all to the very top of the keyboard, along with it's own keys to access the widgets and another key to place all of your files that are open on screen for viewing at once. Being a graphic designer, I am lovin this. I highly recommend this new keyboard to everyone!!
