Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic
Nice audio and fit, too bad no iPhone support
Written by MP from Corbera de Llobregat

The headphones sound really good, on par with others I've owned in the $100-$200 range. Good bass combined with a nice fit provide powerful sound, however if you are used to Shure-type audio (less bass) these will sound strange.
The included replacement mesh covers are a nice touch which will come in handy when the built-in ones become dirty (and they will, from my experience with other headphones!). Also, smaller and larger buds are included in a nicely designed case so you can find the best fit for you.
Biggest gripe is lack of volume support for the iPhone (both 2G and 3G), which to me seems like a huge oversight by the hardware designers - did they not know these headphones were coming?195 of 247 people found this useful

I have been waiting for these to become available since October. As a person with a major hearing loss, only big bulky headphone have been my only choice. These headphone are lite, and powerful with full bass response, and super comfortable. Im not disappointed, I highly recommend them as a first choice for performance headphones

Already the best in-ear headphones I've ever owned
Written by CH from Coppell

I had recently bought a set of $99 V-MODA Vibe Duo Noise-Isolating Headset/Headphones but quickly returned them for 2 reasons: 1) they kept shorting out while using the headset for phone calls. 2) Apple finally launched their own in-ears for $20 less.
Apples to (well, excuse the cliche') Apples... I'm always more pleased to be using Apple products that were made to go with other Apple products. Because, like everything else Apple does, these just work, look, feel right. 1st time, everytime.
The one and only set-back: Apple should put these ear-buds on a chord such as the one the V-MODA use - those things NEVER got tangled. I can't say that for Apple's earphones. Which is a frustration that I'd gladly pay an extra $20 to avoid.13 of 26 people found this useful

Not worth $79... $45 Yes......
Written by CG from Alhambra

Let's get right to the point.
Bass wise: It's average I really don't hear that much of a difference with these and the original headphones included with the iPod Touch.
Tweeters: Pretty Good. They are the only thing that make these headphones better. The tweeters actually pick up those sounds that the average headphones can't pick up and it does make the sound much better.
MIC: The MIC is pretty good, it picks up sounds from far away.... And the quality is great as well.
Overall Body/Structure: These $79 headphones are very DELICATE. FRAGILE ! They get dirty very quickly and they really need to be put in their little carrying case each time your done using them or trust me they will get damaged. The Controller and MIC are located towards the upper part. I guess they did it because of the MIC. But it's actually pretty annoying when using the controller. Also the controller is really small and difficult to pause or skip unto the next track.
OVERALL : A little below average I give them a C+. Apple hyped them up too much. I would of expected more with the BASS driver. For $79 you will regret getting them, if you have a chance of listening to them at the APPLE store please do it. And see if they fit your needs, as for me these headphones were defenetely what I was expecting.44 of 74 people found this useful

I was waiting for these since Oct. Now since I 've been using these for about 2 days, the sound is good and mic works well with the iphone. The disappointing part is that the volume control does not work with the iPhone!

It's Okay.....

I am using this product for my 3g... but of course... everybody knows that the volume control does not work for 3g..... but other than that.... its 'Okay' product... I am really looking forward to be surprise with the 'two-driver'... but not really.... I have previously used: SE-310, Ultimate Ears Super.fi 4,CX 300. Like you see..... they were all 'single driver'... but in my preference... I thought UE-fi 4 had better sound quality than the new Apple in-ear headphones.... I wish that I had SE-420 to compare with the apple's one... but I really disliked the SE-310 ... I would prefer the Apple.... (but most others prefer SE-310 much more) CX300... I don't know about this one... I sold mine really long time ago....... but overall.... It's a 'Okay' product... the sound isolation is not quite good as the Shures, but sound is okay..... for the most part..... mid~high is good... but can't get the 'kick' in the base.... I would really hope the Apple would fix the volume control problem with the 3G.....

In-Ear Headphones

As expected the packaging design shows thoughtful consideration and aesthetic sensitivity. I almost lost the extra mesh screens when I was trying to figure out what new surprise awaited me as I slowly took apart the packaged components. Not even the Apple Store employees could tell me what was in the white capsule because it had just arrived that afternoon and hot on the shelves. My question about spare ear tips was answered when I opened the capsule. I love the sound isolation and the quality of sound. The control buttons work well on my Nano 4G. I was told that it would work on my iPhone as well except for the volume controls which I have yet to try. A very good price for a great product which earns it top ratings in my book.

Great Sound, Great Value
Written by TL from Chapel Hill
Dec 10, 2008
These sound is phenomenal for the price. The cord is the perfect length (not too short so as to be constricting, not too long that it gets caught on everything) and the buds fit very snugly in the ear.
3 complaints I have that kept it from getting 5 stars, however. First, for whatever reason, when you are walking around and the chord bounces against your shirt you really hear each impact travel up into the buds and it muffles out the sound of the music. It's pretty annoying at first but you get used to it. Second, these things get really dirty, so make sure you clean out your ears well first, and dont share them with other people. Finally, the volume controls don't work with either iPhone, which is just ridiculous. Apple should release a patch for this in their next firmware update.9 of 14 people found this useful

Better listening experience! But the volume and mic controls are worthless.
Written by NT from Sammamish

PROS
- Snug, secure fit! Unlike those black fuzzy things that keep falling off and getting lost on the original iPod headphones.
- Better sound! Deeper bass (mildly deep, not super deep), and crisper highs (mild highs, not too high). With the snug fit closer to my ear, the sound is just cleaner and crisper.
- $79 is expensive for headphones when the originals are $29, BUT the competition is at or above this price, and Bose are still like $299 or more. Since I use my headphones just about most of the day everyday, it was worth it to me to pay more for quality headphones. I was tired of the original headphones, and one ear piece was kind of broken, so instead of a replacement, I got an upgrade!
- Three sizes of ear pieces to fit a wider range of people. Better than one size as with the originals.
CONS
- The remote volume adjuster (a clicker on the wire of the headphones) and mic does NOT work with any Mac computer or older iPods! They only with 3 new iPods:
1. Nano 4th gen
2. Classic 120GB
3. Touch 2nd gen. This is quite deceptive as that's not listed clearly on anything I saw until I opened the box and opened the first page of the user manual. So because I am using these headphones with my MacBook Pro and 40GB iPod, the volume adjuster and mic are WORTHLESS to me, and you if you don't have any of those three listed above. But these are built in to the devices anyway, so it's not a big deal. BUT, I did pay for those two things, and I would have rather paid less money and not have them. I just feel a bit ripped off.
OVERALL
The better listening experience from the better sound and snug fit are worth it to me since I listen to music, watch TV, and videos online often. This far outweighs the cons of the volume adjuster and mic not working for the MacBook or older iPods, as those are built in to the device anyway. So go ahead and get these! You'll be happy you did when you experience the difference.

Absolute Wonder

I did a test drive on this pair of awesomely engineered earphones and all I can say is that I love it. The fit of the earbuds is really precise and is definitely more comfortable compared to the previous generation in-ears. The sound is sharp and clear and well balanced. It also comes with a very useful and attractive carrying case to protect the earphones when you're not using it! 5 stars!

New In-ear headphones
Written by JF from Bay Shore
Dec 11, 2008
I just got these new headphones by apple. I previously had the etymotic 6i's for the past 3 years and loved them. After getting the iPhone I wanted something with a microphone. The headphones that came with the iPhone are terrible and didnt stay in my ear.
After 1 day with the headphones I can say this. They sound excellent. Very happy with the sound and the fit in my ear. They are comfortable and block out much of the outside sound as good as any other headphones do.
The things I dont like about the headphones have nothing to do with sound or performance. It is the rather small case they come with and the short length of the cord. Other than that, so far so good.25 of 32 people found this useful

Better than previous but still...
Written by JT from Fredericksburg

If you spend more than 30 bucks on ear bud headphones you need your head examined, ear buds are simply to small to create the sound of an over the earphone.
The bass here is better, but the treble again is still way overbearing and at any increased volume will hurt your ears. If ear buds are what you want do yourself a favor and stick with what came with your iPod, you'll save yourself a lot of money.19 of 71 people found this useful

Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic
Very Impressed!
Written by SB from Raleigh
Dec 11, 2008
As a self described Audiophile, I have tried just about every brand of in-ear headphones. I bought these because I was intrigued that Apple could sell a dual-driver headphone for $80. I was very impressed. They honestly sound as good as my Ultimate Ears Super.Fi 5's. The only pair of IEM's that I have heard that beat the overall sound quality of these are the UE Triple.Fi's. Noise Isolation could be slightly better, but the sound is rich, crisp and very balanced. Great bass response without losing a tight low-end. If you rip your music in 256kbps or higher, then these will make a huge difference. If all of your songs are 128kbps, then they will probably make your music sound terrible. The bottom line is, if you are a true music lover, you won't be dissapointed.
