Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic
Decent
Written by SL from columbus
Dec 7, 2009
I was pleasantly surprised by the sound quality of these earphones, the
mids & highs are sweet the bass however leaves something else to be desired, granted they don't even come close to my monster turbines but then it also depends on what you're listening to. Overall this is a pretty decent in ear speaker system but they are a little pricy.4 of 7 people found this useful

Pretty Good . . .
Written by MS from ASHBURN
Dec 6, 2009
Sound quality is better than normal headphones, biggest difference to me is that these headphones cancel out other sounds much better. As for electric shocks, its true every once in a long while it will shock you, I don't think its a problem though. My biggest complaint is that they aren't recognized as a headset when using Bootcamp Windows XP on my Macbook Pro. Mac OSX will recognize and use them as a headset though. Also, cord is a little short, and I haven't been able to find an extender with all 4 pins so I can use it as a headset on my Macbook Pro.

electro shocks
Written by HR from Victoria
Dec 3, 2009
Thought this was just me, but after reading the review of "MM from Ventura" I am almost relieved to find out that these things are in fact giving little electro shocks. My first reaction was, since it sounds a bit like a speck of dust on a vinyl record, that it was an error in the audio file, but then I realized, I don't just hear this, I *feel* it too. Even happier to hear that this seems to be related to -- dry weather...? Not so sure about that, but definitely noticed that it is either happening a lot (i.e. every 10 seconds), or not at all.
Soundwise okay, though not great, and the mic is good enough to use skype on my ipod touch, and that, in the end, is what I wanted.13 of 20 people found this useful

Shocking Sound
Written by SK from Phoenix
Dec 2, 2009
Apple In-Ears have a nice, clean, robust sound! Very pleased with the quality!
However... when your environment (or you) starts to build static, the In-Ears happy discharge the build right in your ear. Via the metal cap inside the plugs (Shocking the inside of your ears, it hurts). Again... that only happens when given the right environment for static.8 of 8 people found this useful

Excellent Sound but...
Written by IC from Rockport
Nov 22, 2009
I have a discerning ear - excellent music reproduction for headphones in the "in ear" category. I also enjoy how well they isolate you from the outside noise. My only objection is that they don't stay in your ears when you are moving about. It's an all or nothing proposition. I like to use my Ipod while I'm working and these are amongst the worst headphones I've ever experienced in this regard. It's frustrating. If you are relatively stationary I'd give these headphones 5 STARS. I went back to the headphones that come with the Ipod. There sound quality is a level or two below the In-Ear but they stay in my ears sufficiently enough for my needs. I love the built in Remote and Mic on both products.

It could be better
Written by SB from Tallahassee

Most people agree that headphones come with package is not really good. I choosed to buy these, because I trust Apple. I believe it worths every penny I pay to Apple. But this was a little bit dissapointing.
I was expecting much much more sound quality. Especially for basses. It was the real dissapointment to me.
But i like the controls, quality of the product and packaging, design. Since I like the controls of my 3G ipod touch, I am kinda stuck with this headphones. My new headphones should suppot remote and voice conttoling.

Sound quality doesn't justify the price
Written by KY from WP
Nov 2, 2009
Just bought it yesterday. Although the sound is so much better than original iPhone's earphone, it still can't beat my Sony MDR-EX71 bought many years ago, which cost not even half of the price of Apple In-ear ear headphone. Here are the summary of sound quality:
Good:
Good mid range and treble. Double coils per earpiece definitely makes distinguishable improvement in terms of clarity from mid/low and treble. Sound is sweet when listening to music with lots of details in mid such as vocals and musical instrument.
Bad:
Mediocre bass. The low frequency just isn't deep enough. It even sounds terribly bad when listening to house/electronic. You'll get hard, 'plasticky' sound, knowing the coil diameter is relatively small in there. Even though the clarity is quite good, the 'openness' or the 'field' is not satisfying.
Conclusion:
Every headphone/speaker will need some time to break in. Hopefully I'll get some improvement later.5 of 5 people found this useful

Lacking in bass and refuse to stay in my ears
Written by RR from Keewatin
Oct 20, 2009
I was excited for my first pair of dual-driver headphones, and overall the sound quality is very good, most noticeably in the mid-high range. The low range however, is disappointingly absent. The sound is mostly in the higher range, with very little bass response. This leaves the sound feeling somewhat cold. Other than this, sound quality is excellent. The only other issue with these headphones I've encountered is that they refuse to stay in my ears. I've tried every size of the silicone ear tips, and every single one pops out after only minutes of listening, and even faster if I'm moving. The only solution I've found to this is to DRY my ears with kleenex before using these headphones.

great sound, but not formed for my ears
Written by SH from Tawas City

I love the sound these headphones put out; you can very much tell the difference between them and cheap headphones. However I'm not a fan of the cusion inserts. Even the smallest one was too bulky for me. If they had a an insert like the cheaper headphones with built-in mic, they would be great. As for me, I have to go back to the cheaper pair because they feel so much better in my ear (I'll have to deal with the worse sound quality).

Not what I hoped...
Written by JS from Lake Stevens

I give 3 stars because they are better than the stock ones, but nothing like the Bose ones I had before or the Etymotic ones I have now. I like the looks, but the sound quality and clarity is just not there. After using the Bose for over a year I just wasn't able to deal with the lack of spacial, clear, awe-inspiring audio from these headphones. The Bose and Etymotic headphones have an even/balanced range that these just don't have even with the two drivers. They just need to have higher quality components to make the sound better. Decent price, but not for the quality. I'd just get some Sony in ear headphones for like $30 bucks (had some before my Bose, they were pretty good, lots of bass). Either spend less for some Sony's or a little more for the Bose, or just spend another $100 and get the Etymotic ER-4P's I just picked up.

Just receive and make the tests
Written by GT from Pallini
Sep 27, 2009
Hi,
I receive mine 2 days ago and make tests between old 3G iPhone earphones, the 3G S earphones and the new inEar Headphones.
There is no sound quality difference between 3G and 3G S earphones but in the new 2 way, the sound is Crystal Clear and the instruments are easily distinguishable better than the old ones.. the sound is NOT flat any more and there is depth.
What only made me unhappy is the LOSS of BASS.
I was expecting deeper bass from these 2 way headphones than the old ones wich are way better...
All in all the quality is good as expected, the design is excellent and the sound is very good, but NOT the best due to loss of bass..

Nice, but fragile
Written by RC from San Francisco
Sep 26, 2009
Great sound. Ear sizes don't quite fit me and the material isn't very grippy so they tend to fall out of the ear easily. The only reason I bought them was for the remote so I could use it with my iPhone. They're also extremely fragile. If you commute on crowded transit or go to the gym, don't buy these earbuds. I'm getting mine replaced because they've come apart. This is the last set of Apple earbuds I'm buying. Great sound quality, but you need to baby them.

Not for use working out
Written by BB from Blacksburg
Sep 24, 2009
Fantastic headphones. Don't even think of using them for any type of extended cardio activity though. Sweat gets in the mic port and makes the remote sporadic/non-responsive. After my third pair I ended up using tape to seal up the port. Again, they sound great, just not a good pairing for the iPod Shuffle if you need a reliable product in moist scenarios. I originally bought to use for marathon training, but now use them predominantly for weight training.

replacement earbuds?
Written by LM from New York
Sep 23, 2009
I liked the first Apple in-ear headphones because they were $40 and eventhough it is a little steep for headphones, they had great sound, they stayed in my ear when I jogged, and they were light and fit better than the ones that came with my ipod. I bought the new in-ear phones with the mic for my old ipod eventhough I only because I like the way they fit. the only problem I have is that once the rubber ear buds stretch a little they get stuck in my ear when I take them out and then it's easy to lose them.
I was lucky that someone at the apple store, one of the employees, was nice enought to give me a spare but otherwise Apple doesn't make replacement ear buds and I would've been stuck with $80 headphones with no replacement.14 of 16 people found this useful

Great sound for the price--but don't sweat on em.
Written by JW from New York
Sep 3, 2009
I really love these headphones. They sound great, they're pretty comfy, they look nice, and the cords have a springiness to them that makes em resistant to tangling in your pocket. They sound much better and cost less than my previous v-moda earphones (those were unbelievably unbalanced--stay away from v-moda).
The only flaw is that you CAN'T EXERCISE WHILE WEARING THEM. All it took was a little sweat to render them silent. They'll still work fine a little later, after the moisture has evaporated, but that's a pretty major problem.
Another issue that I had with these (and all earbuds, for that matter) is that they are a bit fragile. The first pair had a tiny part come loose, so I walked over to the Apple Store and they gave me a free replacement. The replacement has now died out on me. I'm hoping they'll replace those too. It's a minor inconvenience if you're near an Apple Store and can get a replacement, but a major problem otherwise.29 of 35 people found this useful

Good But not Great Sound Quality
Written by MR from Winnetka
Sep 1, 2009
I bought these thinking they would have incredible sound quality and what I got was semi decent ear buds. They stay in my ear nicely and the mic works great but the sound just isn't as good as my old headphones. I have the $30 Smokin' Skullcandy Earbuds and they are far away better than these headphones. Apple usually does a great job with the little accesories but this just isnt that good. I hope Apple makes a higher sound quality headphone because i really like the mic feature and the change song feature but not good enough sound

These headphones are great. But there is the fact that I only had them for about 4 months yet they already broke on me. I treated these headphones with great respect but they still just randomly broke so yes good headphones but they should be cheaper just make sure that you take care of them so they won't break on you.

Don't Lose Earbuds
Written by NF from Burbank
Aug 27, 2009
I could not fault the audio quality in the slightest, but I will say that I lost the rubber earbuds and there is no way to replace them. Yes they do provide spares, but I cannot use the larger size as it gives me a headache.
Apple reccommended that I buy the headphones again, but $79 is steep for a few pieces of rubber.26 of 32 people found this useful
