I want to listen to my whole jazz collection again!
Written by AJ from San Diego
Nov 30, 2009
My brother gave them to me as an early xmas gift, and these headphones are making me rediscover one of my favorite jazz albums: Kind of Blue... I have been listening to it for many years (never on vinyl, sadly) and I have to say it sounds all the more exquisite through these headphones. The double bass now has texture! It feels like the drummer is right next to me, caressing the snare drum with the metal brushes...
The only reason I didn't give these a 5 star rating is because they don't seem like they are going to last too long unless I treat them with lots of TLC. My recommendations: get a cable extension if you can so you won't be yanking on them too much, hold on to the included case, and don't wind them up too tight.

Really Great earbuds
Written by RM from Whittier
Nov 29, 2009
At $79 these are really the best at that price point. Some people may have disappointment in hearing music as it was recorded. I think we are all used to speakers and headsets tuned to set a particualr range of sound. These are neutral. They produce bass when it is really there not just to create it. The separation of instruments is excellent. Overall tonal quality from low to high is the best I have heard at this price range. I do have SE420s and about 8 other types of earbuds, but for the money these really do a great job. Great sounding earbuds and controls that work with my iPhone 3GS is the best I could have hoped for. Try listening to the sound track to the movie 2001: Also Sprach Zarathustra; you won't say they don't go down to subwoofer frequencies after that. One thing about these is really true; they reproduce the sound quality of the mp3 recording. If the recording is not high qualtiy the phones sound bad. These work best with mp3 recorded at higher rates than 120. Try using 250 or 320hz.

pleasant surprise
Written by JZ from Forest Hills
Nov 27, 2009
The price may be a little discouraging, but these earphones are DEFINITELY WORTH IT. They work like a charm, canceling out most ambient noises and fitting perfectly into your ears (earpiece even comes in 3 sizes!) Plus, the design is so simple and clean cut, no bulkiness at all. This one should be a no-brainer!! buy them!

Terrible
Written by AH from Co. Kildare
Nov 27, 2009
I stumped up for these after the earphones that came with my iPhone 3GS developed a buzzing in the left earpiece after 2 months. I had hoped that forking out a little more might improve the quality of the sound I was getting from the iPod function for all sorts of music from classical to Chemical Brothers.
I couldn't have been more disappointed. The sound quality is pathetic, it sounds like two mosquitoes buzzing in my ears when the music is on and making/taking a phone call is out of the question as it is impossible to hear what the caller is saying . I have tried them with all 3 sizes that came with it, and it still sounds like a tiny little old transistor radio heard from very far away.
I immediately abandoned them and went back to buy a new set of the original earphones, one third of the price and a million times better.4 of 6 people found this useful

Shuffle
Written by TH from NEW YORK

Love the Shuffle--- hate the pods. They're cheap and they break. MIne only lasted 3 months, with very careful use. Since you can't change tunes without their pods, you're stuck buying again...

Do not buy
Written by CT from FLUSHING
Nov 27, 2009
I purchased the headphones expected superior quality and was very disappointing. The sound quality is no better than the original headphones and the insulation is terrible. Every time you take a step or move, the sound of your body rubbing on the wire travels to your ears. Only buy these headphones to use while you are MOTIONLESS. I returned them for a refund. Save you money, please!

Weak Buds
Written by LC from Brooklyn
Nov 25, 2009
Apple, I was sure I was getting a superior product, I was so wrong. They were not a cheap pair of ear buds coming from apple. But they sure sound cheap. The out-put is weak. the bass is very disappointing and the trebble just sounds bad. not worth the money. Do better with a less expensive (a lot less expensive) pair of buds. Not to mention the Mic and remote didn't work on my ipod.

When I first got these I thought they were uncomfortable, then I realized it's just the nature of in-ear headphone to feel very different at first. Now they feel amazing in my ears and I love the quality and the case they come with is great.

Perfect sound... unfrtunatly
Written by MK from Glen Williams
Nov 24, 2009
These must be the best head phones I have ever used! They have amazing sound and i must say the remote was very useful. i bought them for my 120 gb classic and loved them till the left one started buzzing persistantly. thi was so annoying i bought a pair of Skullcandy FMJ's and they were almost as good not as comfotable but still souded ok, after having them completely die on me i went back to these. the left headphone had stopped it's annoying buzzing noise, or so it seemed as it started again around a week ago. as of now the left is completely dead and the right is starting to do the same i bought them last Feb and got the sk's in june, went back to these midway through september. I will be buying another pair for the amazing sound and hoping they last longer then my first did.
pro's : beautiful rich full sound, amazing fit and comfort, handy remote, surprisingly high quality mic, spare mesh caps
con's : didn't last long sounding the way they were supposed to, and the ear tips are smooth not grooved underneath so they easily fall off the unit if yanked or pulled hard.11 of 12 people found this useful

Well, the remote works...
Written by MM from Ventura
Nov 24, 2009
I was immediately disappointed with the lack of bass. I got used to that eventually, but when I put my old Sonys on I am reminded of all that beautiful bass I have been missing.
The worst thing I hate about these headphones are the tiny electric shocks to my ears on a dry day. I returned these once because of this and the second pair did the same thing, but on the other ear. This is intermittent but the every-ten seconds-or-so shocks destroy my ability to enjoy the music.
And the rubber ferrules where the wire attaches to the bud have become unattached and disintegrated. I reattached them with a dab of silicon glue, but the rubber continues to disintegrate.
Good try Apple, but these headphones are not good.15 of 20 people found this useful

Silicone ear pieces go missing...
Written by GL from Worthington
Nov 24, 2009
I love these in-ear head phones & remote mic... but they do constantly fall out of my ears and then the worst thing happens... a siiicone ear piece goes missing. Many times we've been lucky & found them in the washer, on the gravel, under the car seat, & even on our much treaded path in our woods. I've already lost both size small ear pieces, so now my ear buds probably fall out because the medium size is too big? Point is: it is too easy for the ear pieces to come off, and get lost and there does not seem to be an easy way to replace them.

Not up to expectation...
Written by AB from EVANSTON
Nov 23, 2009
I thought In-Ear would provide the comfort I was looking for. Unfortunately, they should provide beautiful sound quality, but I didn't feel comfortable at all with them. They don't fit firmly on ear, and so I had to very frequently plug them back into my ears...I very much like the standard iPhone headphones, they're great.

Excellent Sound but...
Written by IC from Rockport
Nov 22, 2009
I have a discerning ear - excellent music reproduction for headphones in the "in ear" category. I also enjoy how well they isolate you from the outside noise. My only objection is that they don't stay in your ears when you are moving about. It's an all or nothing proposition. I like to use my Ipod while I'm working and these are amongst the worst headphones I've ever experienced in this regard. It's frustrating. If you are relatively stationary I'd give these headphones 5 STARS. I went back to the headphones that come with the Ipod. There sound quality is a level or two below the In-Ear but they stay in my ears sufficiently enough for my needs. I love the built in Remote and Mic on both products.
